Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - FA Cup Final Week!!

Alex Notman testimonial for our former player who was forced to retire, Denis Irwin played at Norwich, and our wonderkid Rossi scored a goal in his own half which Irwin described as "unbelievable".....

I heard that on MUTV too. If theres a clip shown, I'll cap it and post it here if you like.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - FA Cup Final Week!!

Asked why he signed for Man United, he added: "I don't know, something happened, you know? I don't want to play for them." When pushed on why he signed for United, Mikel said: 'I never wanted to play for United. I was forced to.' And when quizzed on who forced him, he said: "Some people."Mikel attitude to Chelsea was very different and when asked if he wanted to play for the London club he said: 'Yeah, because I love Chelsea and I am going to be happy when I am there. They (Chelsea) know.'

I got this off soccernet, hope this isnt true but if it is,damn,he can bloody well fcuk off to london. We carry no passengers in this team.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - FA Cup Final Week!!

no one can compete with chelseas spending power, if the kid wants to go there than sweet, it wont be the first time we've missed out on a player and im sure it wont be the last....

it's a bit fucked up that the kid signed for us then had his head turned but if chelsea can get to established players like ashley cole then its no suprise they've done this...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - FA Cup Final Week!!

His interview was on the Radio this morning, he clearly said "I want to play for Chelsea not United". Its another case of Chelsea throwing their financial weight around and it won't be the last...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - FA Cup Final Week!!

But the thing is that we OFFICIAL signed the player so he belongs to us regardless of what happened, unless of course FIFA or some other higher power interfere. Chelsea dont have an official deal done with Lyn Oslo so they cant really do much other than wave money at people.
Its just a matter of whether Man Utd and Lyn Oslo agree to break the deal cuz both have confirmed that a deal was done perfectly under FIFA rules which means having both clubs' and player's signatures on the contract.

It would really suck if we lost this guy cuz I've seen bits of him playing and he definately looks like a great player.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - FA Cup Final Week!!

If we have officially signed him then we must be able to sell him.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - FA Cup Final Week!!

Feckin quality!!!

Seems as though another succesful manager doesnt like Wenger..

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has thrown his backing behind Manchester United for their FA Cup final against Arsenal.
Mourinho wishes Portuguese countrymen Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Queiroz to shine but also enthused on his relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson.

"I respect him, but not just respect, I like him," Mourinho told BBC Sport in a documentary to be televised on Monday.

"He is a person to fight with but a person that when a game ends we share a glass of wine and speak openly."

He added: "He is a very correct person and he teaches me a few things.

When Wenger says he likes other Chelsea teams much more than our team I know why - because we are the champions

Jose Mourinho

"I also have a strong relationship with Sir Alex. I think a man like him deserves silverware year after year.

"I would like Manchester United to win. I have no problem to say that."

Mourinho led Chelsea to the Premiership title and a Carling Cup win this season in his first campaign in English football.

And while he has bonded with Ferguson his rapport with Wenger remains distant.

"I don't know him well, so I think it's not fair to speak about someone I don't know personally," added Mourinho.

"When he says he likes other Chelsea teams much more than our team I know why - because we are the champions. He preferred the other way when they were the champions.

"I didn't like Arsenal at the start of the season when they smashed everybody and I don't like them now when they beat Everton 7-0 and they win.

"But I liked them very much in the middle of the season when every weekend they lost points.

"I was in love with them then, so I can understand why Arsene doesn't like us."

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - FA Cup Final Week!!

I think he's going to the arse bandits myself but there's still links:

Sportinglife on Owen link
Friday, May 20, 2005

'Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson wants to partner Wayne Rooney with England colleague Michael Owen at Old Trafford next season.
Ferguson has seen his Red Devils finish the season a massive 18 points adrift of new champions Chelsea in the Premiership.
And one of the main reasons for their failure on both the domestic and European front has been a dearth of goals - with United scoring just 58 goals in 38 league games compared to the Blues' 72 and Arsenal's 87.
Ferguson has pinpointed Owen as the man he wants to spend Malcolm Glazer's cash on, with the former Liverpool hitman having failed to nail down a regular starting role in Madrid, where he is behind Raul and Ronaldo in the striker pecking order.
The United boss has always believed in having four world-class strikers to call upon, and having seen Louis Saha and Alan Smith fail to really make their mark, will chance his arm with a £10m bid for Owen.
Real are likely to want nearer to £15m for the 25-year-old, who cost £8m when he moved from Anfield and is only one year into a four-year deal.
Owen has spent most of the Primera Liga season on the bench but still managed to score an impressive 12 goals for the Galacticos.'

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - FA Cup Final Week!!

How many strikers does SAF plan to have?
is he gonna trow RvN to the bench!? maybe he will use Owen and RvN upfront and Rooney on the left! (bad idea imo)
Still have Saha and Smith.

theres rumours that he wants to make smith into a midfielder..

we'll see, theres gonna be tons of stuff like this during the summer.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - FA Cup Final Week!!

Wait a minute. So lets assume we do sign him.
That would mean we have, Ruud, Saha, Smith, Rooney, Owen, Solskjaer all for next season? Well maybe Smith and Ole can play in midfield so we're still left with 4 strikers.
But what are the chances of Owen joining us? His position at United wouldnt be any better than what it is at Real.

well Rooney is gonna take scholseys place, ole/smith plays RMF, if anything maybe saha is gonna go..

Ruud - Owen upfront with Rooney behind them, sounds pretty good to me...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - FA Cup Final Week!!

Lets be realistic.I cant see Ole playing again,he wouldnt be the same player he was.Smith could be a great defensive midfielder for all his tenacity and aggression,he just needs to learn more about the role,he has time though. This would then leave us with only Ruud,Rooney and Saha(if he's still around.)I'd welcome another striker at OT,and having Owen, wouldnt hurt.

yeah it'd be nice to see Ole again but him coming back after so long, its gonna be hard for him..

if we can just see him once more in a red shirt, even better for him to score, then i'll be happy...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - FA Cup Final Week!!

I dont want to lose Saha. Out of our 4 strikers, he's probably the best in the air. And he's like a faster alternative for Ruud. Rooney and Smith drop off too much so we need someone fast waiting up front and Saha is definately a lot faster than Ruud here although his finishing isnt as good.
Obviously if we have Owen, it would be much better than having Saha. But having both wouldnt hurt. And another thing is, what are the chances of an ex-liverpool player have of joining our club? I'm sure if Owen came back to the premiership, he'd surely go back to Liverpool.
As for Ole, he himself knows he doesnt have many years left in him but he has given so much for the club that he deserves to stay even as a midfielder where he plays well anyway. Sir Alex actually said on MUTV this year that out of the whole squad, Ole would make the best manager in the future cuz of his ability to analyse the game like how he used to do before being subbed on in a game. So maybe he'll always have a future here...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - FA Cup Final Week!!

Today I hope you guys beat Arsenal. But Arsenal I think will win, after the victory over Everton 7-0 showed how determind they are.

But come on Sir Alex Shot who's boss.

I also wouldn't want to see Saha leave. If he could only get a semi-full season I'm sure he'd do great, remember he was one of the top scorers last season.
I think it might be generally unfair to judge both Saha and Smith or even Ruud this season, since they've all had more than a little time out injured. I remember at the beginning of the season how ppl said that we have too many strikers and all of first team quality, but imagine what it would've been like with any less stikers.

As for that Owen story, sounds like BS to me.
