I like Rooney as he does represent what Man Utd are, in the sense that England's best player playing for the biggest club in England and without him, we don't really have that "star" representation on the world stage (again, if you understand what i mean)
But i also agree that Fergie is a great manager, and I'm sure he has his reasons in having his way, but sometimes because he won't back down, the team gets hurt in the overall view of things (and our current financial situation doesn't help) and if Rooney goes, i don't see Fergie being able to pull us back to the heights of the world...
I also have to say that how the two major clubs that slash cash as if its nothing doesn't help the case where everyone wants to play for them now because they get that crazy amount of money. Its as if the players don't care about the traditions or prides of representing a club with such history and culture...
but with that said, i'm not a fan of Rooney as I really do think that he's not that bright and isn't as focused on the pitch as he should/could be...
