PC Lag, slowndown online

Hello

I've read on all the forums that there are slowndowns and lags online on PC. But I've read that for some people it's perfect (not many). That refrains me from buying the game, as I'll only play online. So what's your experience with the online this year on PC? Is it playable? (I talk about Euro servers) Thank you

I've only played about 6 matches. So far when I play MOL games it seems very laggy. Quick matches seem a bit better, but I need to play more before I can say.

But overall, it seems they haven't really made any improvements compared to PES2010.

no improvements from pes 2010?!?!? lol i won't play the game then! hate it when my net is green and i play with a guy whose net is red and I am the one who gets screwed and loose a match ... and a lot of weird stuff happened to me when playing online ... strange and surreal plays that ended in goals for the other user ... couldn't stand it! luckily, messi, ronaldo, eto'o and others are not as invincible as they were in pes 2010

online gamin will always be laggy, beacuse your connecting with others, and others must have a perfect connection it's that simple, why bother online i don't get it when you can explore the game in itself

When every connection is red during matches the problem is not the players, it's Konami.

PES 2010 was hit and miss. Most matches great, others with button-lag, but at least you could tell according to the connection colour.
They're all red in this game.

Having played quite a few more matches...

For many players like myself, competing online is the main reason for buying the game.

I've played almost every kind of multiplayer game you can imagine. There are many games which use a peer to peer model for online matchmaking, the best example I can think of is Modern Warfare 2. Imagine that, a game which is hosted on someone's PC with 12 players charging around shooting and throwing bombs at each other.... and it's generally pretty lag free.

Yet a 2 player game of football, which shouldn't be too taxing on your bandwidth or computer power is often unplayably laggy. Or at least laggy enough to take a lot of the fun out of it.

There is obviously a design fault at work here which Konami continues to fail to address. Perhaps the situation will improve with time as things settle down with the new game, but I'm not holding my breath and I'm starting to wish I hadn't bothered with PES at all this year.

I applaud the gameplay improvements, but I wish they would actually make improving the online experience a priority like they claimed they would. It seems like they just want to get their product out with some good press, and then focus on the next game.

If I can play a MW2 match against 12 people scattered all over Europe without a problem, why the hell can't I have a decent 1v1 game of PES against a guy in Germany?

thats wrong, u have the players physix, the ball physix, the ai for every player, how they interact with each other and more
a football game is a lot of work for the cpu
and for its grafix i wonder why it runs so smoothly and why the gpu isnt much under pressure

its a lot of more work to get a pes run good online than a simple shooter

Yea why bother online lets all play against the CPU it's so much fun
for many its just got boring
its predictable

A 'simple' shooter also has to calculate a lot of object physics, object positions, material properties like bullet penetration, usually include a lot of in-game voice chat.

Just check the cpu load, gpu load and bandwidth usage while playing the PES online. It really isn't taxing for any kind of reasonably up to date hardware. The question is, why can't the two clients sync properly without an absolutely perfect connection? Bad netcoding I suppose.

Who knows if there could be any connection, but have you tried to load a Konami webpage? The online 'portal' or the KonamiID page? They are amazingly slow and shit too.

I've just played my first 10 matches online (pc) and I'm loosing my f*cking mind!! I'm furious with Konami! I like playing Pes offline but online is where it's at for me as I live away from my friends.
I mean, it's just inexcusable how bad the lag is. I've never experienced such lag with any other online game.

I've been such a strong supporter of Konami - been giving my money since 1998. Now I think I'll look elsewhere.

The online ineptitude beggars belief! I seem to remember PES6 being almost perfect online. So how is it that in 2010 we've regressed!

Sorry for the rant - was just so much looking forward to playing online.

After even more matches online, I'm also furious with the state of the lag. They have definitely taken a step backwards here compared to PES2010. At least in last year's game there was a 50/50 chance for an enjoyable game.

Has anyone played FIFA11 online on PC and can make a comparison? Sure, the gameplay of FIFA11 is inferior but... As far as I'm concerned PES2011 is unplayable online.

thats coz this pages are hosted over in japan :)
and the gaming servers aswell
game itself is running client-client but stats and lobby are still over this crap server in japan i think (havent playd 011 online yet)
on the consoles the servers are from MS/Sony but i dont know where, on pc i think its still konami(no mlo beta on pc etc..)

so the problem is less in the netcode but more in the transmission with the server
and btw the netcode is done for the japanese infrastructure so its not optimised for eu (that well)

Young players prefere to compete online, older players prefere the offline experience.

I would take a comment like 'online is for billy no mates' but your comment is utter rubbish. I'm an oldie (34) and find offline Pes a bit predicable after a while. I win every tournament on top player 90% of the time. If you've got nothing productive to say I suggest you keep it to yourself.

The world is full of people (on youtube especially) writing pointless, sometimes abusive sh!t on forums - had enough of it to be honest.

It wasn't meant as any sort of insult or abuse, it's just my opinion and the fact that you are 34 years old and that you are an avid online player may be simply an exception that proves the rule.

I find the vast majority of online players are youngens. You can find older players too, but mostly they play in their own small community maybe because it's too stressful to compete against Barcelona/Brazil kids.

Most of the players offline or not and in any game are young, that's no news. And yes offline against CPU is too predictable and boring, playing against a human is incomprable. And I notice Konami have bungled their task with the online ;-(

When I say "play offline" I don't mean playing against CPU only, you get the most fun out of PES by playing games against family/friends/collegues.

Once again, when I say young players prefere online, elder prefere offline I do not make any allusions about the lack of skill of elder players or that they can have fun only against CPU because they can't compete against the young studs online or what so ever.

Yea sure, I did that for previous PES but this one is harder to play for casual players. And consoles are more suited for multiplayer offline, I doubt many people have 2 controllers on PC ;-)

And yes younger players tend to be more competitive, but you can play online for fun too

You can try and play for fun against randoms but at the end if you want to play cultivated football you end up searching for a small community with like-mided people.

this lagging makes me fucking angry because of these lags i pass the ball out and the opposite makes a goal due to a corner

me too!!!!so slow!!why????in one match, somtimes it is very very very slow,
sometimes it is normal.

Fucking angry!!!until now i have no play a smooth game online.

RAM:4G(3.25G)
Nvdia GTX260

help!!!!! if not, i will give up PES!

so disappointed. Fucking K!

first off dont play wlan, good set up wlan is almost on par with lan but its easier w/o

make sure ur comp got a static ip adress from ur router(if u have one)

turn off os firewall and win defender(vista/7)
make exceptions to ur anti virus softwares or try turn them off

play the native resolution of your screen with its native screen refresh rate
no aa or af via nvidia/ati

turn on upnp in router
make a dmz in router, if no option turn off firewall in router(not nat) and make free ports in nat

edit
try around with pre redner frames(0,1,2) and turn off vsync for testing purposes
disable windows aero for the pes-exe

With FIFA, online works great. All my mates play the FIFA club matches which allows for up to 20 different players, they have thier own 'team', and playing thier league matches against other groups of friends from around the country amounts to a very active social scene. All my mates find FIFA online to be a great buzz and indeed is the only reason many of them even own an X-box or game full stop.

That is why people bother with online, which it seems that Konami have made another bollocks off.

On the plus side of things, thanks to forums like this one where I can come and read about how bad PES online is yet again, I dont have to waste any of my own money on the game.

Once again, PES = No Sale!
