Kuijt or kuyt?

Its van Nistelrooy here in England but it says van Nistelrooij on the UEFA website. I think only the players themselves would know the correct way of spelling it.
 
Unless im mistaken the dutch use ij for y. Im not completly sure how it works but both are correct.
 
I've read somewhere sometime ago that Kuijt had to change his name to Kuyt to play for the dutch NT or whatever, since they said he was born in Yugoslavia.

I've also read that van Nistelrooy is van Nistelrooij's commercial name, that's why that appears on his shirt.
 
It depends on the family. In Holland, 'ij' is the same as 'y' although 'ij' is more traditional and 'y' more modern seemingly.
 
Well, in South America are called Kuyt, Van Nistelrooy or Van Hooijdonk definitely, hehehe; sounds better to the language.
 
Actually I believe he is actually called 'Kunt'.
