This week sees Konami storming in to a commanding lead in the All Formats Top 40 as ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 6’ (PS2, XB360, PC) kicks everyone into touch with the biggest week 1 figure on this chart since the PS2 phenomenon ‘GTA: San Andreas’ way back in November 2004.
Compared to the week 1 of ‘FIFA 07’ five weeks ago, ‘PES 6’ sell-through is almost 23% higher – not bad considering ‘FIFA 07’ launched on 7 formats. ‘PES 6’ on PS2 is slightly under the equivalent PS2 ‘PES 5’ launch for last year (down 14K) but more than makes up for this on Xbox 360, the new de facto standard in terms of highest first week sales for this format, beating the previous record holder (Capcom’s ‘Dead Rising’) by quite a margin.
