Kinect

the one i got was online only and only for boxing day (apparently)

but in the past i have done similar things in store with game. for example i bought an xbox360 bundle which came with certain games.

i took the games back and got the full money back on them at a later date. not sure if that has been stopped now though

Just ordered a kinect bundle from game.se

Kinect inkl.
33127 Kinect inkl. Kinect Adventures (360)
33599 Dance Central Kinect (360)
33464 Kinect Sports (360)

1799Sek (£170) seems a pretty good price including the three games, really don't think we'll like Dance Central so will probably put it up for sale, they have Ubisoft's Fitness Evolved for only £30 but it's out of stock so we can't order it, gutted as it's a really good price, want that and the EA Sports Active one ASAP.

I ordered the boxing day deal from Game aswell for £154.99 :DD

hopefully it all comes soon!

They say something about things being split up in the post, so hopefully the other two games don't get posted seperately?

Can't wait to play on it.

Just ordered EA Sports Active 2, Fitness Evolved and Fallout New Vegas for £95 inc delivery to Sweden from Game.co.uk :) found a £3 off voucher online as well!

Got the three games today, Sports has completely tired me out!

We had four of us doing the mini games and I'd done all of the main modes seperately and really enjoyed them. The volleyball game where you avoid the objects, the paddle panic one and the super saver game had me exhausted!

Best game would be the football, better than I thought it'd be. Worst is probably the volleyball or boxing. Table tennis was alright but not a patch on the Move version. Bowling is alright, works well enough but not sure I'll do much good in any league as I finished our game with 186 or so? Best minigame for me though is between the super saver and the football target game.

TONS of fun though, far better than I anticipated and will get plenty of use.

Nice one dags, think everyone has been surprised how good it actually is and as you say, how well football actually works. Can see FIFA having some sort of kinect tag on, but that's 11 months away!

Do you all live in houses or anyone have neighbours underneath? Bit worried about how much noise we'll create, have a spare foam mattress so thinking of doing all the running and jumping about on that :) Just finally got around to putting my projector on the ceiling so we're all ready for Kinect to arrive :)

Yeah that is a point, we have a little old fella living in the downstairs flat (maisonette). So might need to put a mat down or something. I can't wait to play it.

Hopefully they send it soon.

Hurdles especially, but most games have you moving around quite a lot and you won't really be thinking to move softly as you'll be concentrating too much.

Kinect arrived today, so far we only played a couple of the sports games but it seems really fun, annoying that the sensor doesn't work wirelessly, seems a quite ridiculous oversight, because we will be using the Kinect on our projector and the Xboxes are on a shelf behind us we'll need to buy a 10-15m USB extension cable so that the sensor can connect to the 360 despite being sat underneath the projector.

Oh that's pretty cheap, 15m is an estimate, need to actually measure properly and the cable that comes with it is reasonably long, so maybe only 10m or so.

Completely knackered my left knee up doing a fitness test in Fitness Evolved :CURSE:

It had me doing lunges, and I know my knees aren't great but I thought I could at least get away with those. I was wrong. My knee is fucked now and it kills me when it bends, just tried to sit down on the chair and curled up in agony when my leg bent to sit down :(

bad luck mate. thats the problem with these games and it also means you wont be able to play any more of them for now :S

mine has arrived today. i will try it out later maybe after the liverpool game

My superhuman powers have healed it a bit, enough to give me the ability to have a cracking game of bowling against PBoreham :) Good game there mate, that was some finish by you!

By the way, me putting my arms up was me trying to say "What a I supposed to do against that?!"

i tried playing it before and went a bit nuts..

it was doing my head in, couldn't get it to respond to my movements. probably due to lack of space in the room.

Got mine today, tried to play it in my bedroom but it is all bed. Tried to play ontop of the bed and it wasn't having it.

My folks are living with us at the moment and they sit in the front room all the fucking time. So the only way I can play it is later and get them to play it with me

Managed to play a bit of Adventures on the raft and it was fun, but only had a tiny go.

just threw 105.85 in the javelin is that good?

i have played boxing which is a bit of a let down. it seems it is pretty much throw your arms at any angle.

played someone online and the way there arms were moving was stupid but it was affective

I did the fitness test and it set me at moderate, I'm currently 182cm and 108kg, told it I want to get down to 90kg and it set me a 12 week plan to do that, exercising for 30 minutes 4 times a week and eating 1800 calories per day, pretty doable :) The body scan was pretty inaccurate all round (it said I was 178cm tall for example) but the technology of doing the workouts works really, really well, instant feedback both visually and audibly if you're not doing the exercises right with verbal encouragement, will be interesting to use my EA Sports Active heart monitor when it arrives to see what it's getting my heart rate to but the test then the first 30 minute workout seemed very effective, said I burned 190 calories so far :)

If you burn 18kg in 12 weeks, Kinect has been well worth your money. Good luck.

My best is 103 or something like that?

Boxing is very disappointing really. Not much to it, blocking doesn't really work and you can win by just like you're punching a speed bag and spam punches.

Played quite a few multiplayer games with a mate today and surprised at how much fun the volleyball is versus a human, a good laugh. Football was also superb, as was table tennis.

Played this for most of the night. Really enjoyed it.

mainly played bowling and just for the atmosphere alone it is better than the Wii one. Although I do like the way you put spin on the Wii better.

Just had a quick go at football aswell and that was enjoyable, much better than I thought it would be.

Also had a quick go at dance central with the wife and it was alot of fun aswell :DD

All in all great fun and I can't wait to see what developers do with proper games.

What is the deal with Avatars though. I have made extra ones in my dashboard for my wife, Mum and dad. How does that work? it let me create them, but do I have to pay more? or is it only if I want to use them online I pay more? (xbox live?).

When you've got Kinect on, do your Hub pose (with your arm out to the side) and go to "Sign in". You'll see that you're already signed in so get the person who's profile you want to stand in front of the camera and they can move the hand to sign into their profile as well.

It'll take a second to scan them and then you'll have their profile and avatar available in games too. A little bit fiddly, I used guest profiles when I first got it until I noticed that you could sign in extra people.

When I set my missus up with a dashboard profile, it set her as th console default which was a pain. I ended up deleting her...

You just needed to go into her profile and turn off "Automatically sign in" or something like that probably :)

The few days having the Kinect have taken their toll on my body already. Besides curling up in pain when I strained my knee on Fitness Evolved, there's not been a day since Christmas where I haven't woken up with some aches from doing Kinect for a few hours. It's definately helping my fitness but I'm hoping that it's not just a Wii-esque phase and I'll get bored of it soon due to lack of depth with the games.

For now though, I'm far more impressed than I expected prior to using it and it looks like it could have great potential. I read that MS can increase the resolution of the camera if need be, so that it can detect wrist movements and individual finger movements. If they pull that off, it'll massively increase what they can do. Table tennis on the Move is better because of the wrist detection so if that gets put into Kinect, it could be interesting which I'd go for.
