English Premier league better than Serie B? Argueble.

You really do have tunnel-vision my friend. The Italian league is getting worse year-by-year and the only thing that hides the black cloud that hangs low above Turin is the World Cup win. Juventus will always be a disgrace to the rest of the football world and now you have a team full of old has-beens to get you back into Serie A. All the good footballers now play in Spain, Germany and England. If you can name 20 up-and-coming World Class players in Italian football I will eat my words.

serieA has a certain romance, style and finesse to it. whilst being a very strong league technically, its starting fall behind england and spain - and all the develepments behind the scenes in the italian game has done it no favours whatsoever

the premiership is the best league on the planet for its pace, passion, fans, stadia, attacking football and just pure excitement

The stadia is terrible, no super-stars play there anymore, terrible fans(attendances are appalling) and boring matches. Juventus' stadium is horrible. Very 1980s (although they have a new one being built yes?)

The Premiership is so exciting and the crowds are brilliant. End-to-end and technically much better than it was 10 years ago. Hats off to the FA.

Serie B TIM
Rimini - Juventus

On the eve of the Bianconeri’s championship opener, Didier Deschamps spoke to the press about tomorrow’s game away at Rimini: “I know what to expect, I’ve watched the tapes and listened to the reports from the scouts. It’s a team that plays football. Even if the game is generally quite direct in Serie B, with long balls and tight defences, Rimini will be looking to score goals”. The head coach was asked how his players would get on, this being the first of a number of sides in Serie B they have never before had to face: “Of course it’s harder for them as they aren’t familiar with their opponents, whereas the other teams have been thinking about the game against Juventus since the day the fixtures list was released. That said, what counts is the attitude and state of mind of the players”.

As usual, Deschamps did not reveal tomorrow’s starting line-up: “I have a pretty good idea of who’s going to play, I’d say I’m 95% sure, but I prefer not to say now as things may still change”. Trezeguet and Zanetti will miss the game, along with a handful of players out with long-term injuries, while Boumsong is available to play: “He’s doing well, although he’s obviously short of match practice. He’s new, so he’s still getting to know his team mates, but he has to start sooner or later”. The team’s debut in Serie B has sparked considerable interest throughout Europe and plenty of enthusiasm among fans from places which very rarely see Juventus come to town: “For Serie B this is an event, but I also believe Juventus will be missed in Serie A”. And with what spirit will the Bianconeri begin their new adventure? “With the knowledge that we are a strong team with the desire to return to Serie A straight away. To do that we have to begin winning right from the start”.

I would like to dedicate this post to the two 17 year old juventus youth players. Alessio Ferramosca and Riccardo Neri passed away when going to collect some balls from the water over the fence. They drowned in the icy water. I send my condolences to their families and their friends.

Alessandro Del Piero is celebrating his 500th appearance in a Juventus jersey and received praise from Didier Deschamps.

“It’s not a record, but it is a truly very important achievement,” said the captain after scoring in the 4-2 win over Bari this afternoon.

“Now in the glorious history of Juventus there are only two players ahead of me – and what players! – Furino and Gaetano Scirea. I am very proud of this step in my career, especially as I marked it with a goal. I’ve won a great deal, including seven Scudetto titles.”

The record books will state he won five due to the Calciopoli scandal that stripped Juve of the 2004-05 and 2005-06 Championships. Even after their demotion, Del Piero was the first to confirm he’d stay with the Bianconeri.

“I pledged myself to this Serie B adventure, even if it wasn’t always easy. I remember my first appearance for the club. It was September 1993 against Foggia and I only played for a few minutes.”

The captain has been on fine form so far this season and Deschamps believes he is an icon for the rest of the team.

“Aside from the goal, Alex set the example, moving well and doing great things,” commented the Coach.

“First of all, he deserves the applause of these fans for the loyalty he has always shown to this club. He fights for every ball on the field and I am pleased to see him enjoying his football so much. It was a great way to celebrate his 500th appearance.

“Del Piero is always decisive. With him, David Trezeguet, Pavel Nedved and Mauro Camoranesi playing together, it’s a whole other Juventus. The younger members of the side can mature and grow alongside these champions.”

The Bianconeri are now clear at the top of the Serie B table following the 4-2 victory over Bari and Napoli’s stumble at Lecce, but they had gone behind in Turin after just one minute.

“The fact we were still in an emergency situation in defence with all our injuries meant that early goal made us feel insecure, but we reacted well with some good football and scoring opportunities. Of course, it’s better for us that the other top teams failed to win.”

There was another returning hero in the squad today, as Pavel Nedved’s five-match ban expired and he marked his comeback with a brace.

“It’s always the champions who make the difference,” continued Deschamps. “Pavel’s return was very important for us. We have players who, when they are in good shape, give the side that step up in quality.”

The current world soccer magazine expose about Alex wanting a stronger squad for the Serie A assault next season, or he walks, is an eye opener. Would be sore to lose such an instrumental and iconic player such as Pinturicchio.

Juveboy, you can pick up a copy from my house on Tuesday night. Shaash!

Serie A seems flat without Juve, and will be good to see them, Moggi-less, next season!

Lost in translation. I saw the original interview, he was acting goofy together with Pirlo after I think after the berlusconi trophy game and Del Piero was asked what he thinks about Buffon,Camoranesi and Trezeguet wanting a competitive squad or they might leave and Del Piero playfully reacted, that even he didn't know wether he'd stay or not.

Besides, just a two days ago Del Piero said that he wants to stay at Juventus for years to come.

Ah, that clears it up quite a bit, as i thought, how can the first guy who pledged his allegiance to the club on going down to Serie B, suddenly react like this when the club is looking to bounce back the first time of asking!

Cheers Donny.
