Hi , so I've been here so far for 2 months or even more addressing my love for this league and it's special magical presence in every winning eleven game (or even sometimes fifa games) , I like winning eleven or pes more than real life football because guess what I don't like football and I'm not a football fan haha , but there's something special about this game and especially the japanese teams or players that make you feel as if you're having a spiritual experience I'm not kidding I myself have a "spiritual" or "destined" thing that happened with me that made me love this game , and I'll storytell you this story and I'm sure some of you have similar stories

Since I was young around 6 years old , my father was a hardcore fifa player .. he used to play everyday , so he took me to his pc and shown me the players , the game , everything , he played fifa 2005 , and he teached me how to play , he was an English league and English national team fan , and his favourite team was man united .. , he has died 2 weeks ago god bless his soul and that he rests in peace.. , so I've felt to talk about this because he was the origin reason for everything that happened with me for this game , the destined huge thing that happened that I used to have dreams that I was a japanese person and I used to speak japanese when I was young without knowing that it's japanese haha , anyways , the first time I played the game , put the headphones , I was absolutely hooked with the soundtrack , opened edit squads or something , the first player to appear in front of me was daisuke matsui for lemans , and he was a japanese player , something from my heart was screaming because I knew something that I can't explain with words , then I went randomly to Italian league and found Nakamura! , after that I found inamoto , and this in itself is a huge experience for me because in fifa 2005 you can't search based on nationality and me myself couldn't understand most of the language or anything (I was 7)in 2006 , the next chapter of this story is my father buying me the first PS2 in 2010 and my first pes game (PES 2010) and let me tell you , when we were in the store trying the console I immediately went to Japan team even though I'm not japanese but I look kinda japanese haha , I was so happy to experience this like finally playing as the japanese national team with the players fully real, the soundtrack , the editing everything felt completely different than fifa..more magical and happiness experience , after some months I bought winning eleven 2009 ( the japanese version) and I was having the same magical feeling seen every japanese player and I only played with Japan or japanese clubs , and I didn't know that there's something called japanese clubs back then haha , when I heard the Japan national anthem for the first time I was with my grandfather in 2007 I felt shocked and I said I want to go back to my home but I couldn't understand that this is Japan or anything , anyways , every we or pes game I have a weird or destined story with it .. and I'm sure you also do

THE NEXT IMPORTANT PART

THE J-LEAGUE PART

when I found out later that there's something called j league games , with players all having full real accurate player faces, I couldn't sleep for nights, I've managed to get j league winning eleven 2009 for ps2 and this was a huge turning point for me back when I was 12 .. couldn't leave my PS2 haha , and it was a completely different experience than pes , so later in 2013 my father got me ps3 and I tried my first pes game which was 2014 and I was disappointed.. Japan wasn't lisenced and japanese players were limited .. I used to play we 2012 and 2013 on ps2 and pc but when I found out that they had j league dlcs and that I couldn't get them back then was a huge depression for me when I was a child , years have passed and I've managed to play j league for we2014 and now because of you guys on this beautiful site I was able to play 2013 dlc and the only j league experience that is left for me to try is the 2012 one and I've made alot of posts trying to activate it but anyways ..

That wasnt my full story with this game it was just a small detailed one about the magical feeling this game had put upon me

This thread I think it'll be for j league fans for winning eleven games like me , I want to know your favourite game , team , or if you had same "destined" or experience you can surely tell us here I'd love to read it , and I didn't find any j league thread and this is a huge part of this game and I'm sure there's people out there who play we or pes mainly for j league , I hope this thread grows like the retro pes corner haha

wish you the best

I am sorry to hear about your loss. My sincere condolences. The football game experiences can never be taken away from you.

Cool post. I also loved the Japanese Winning Eleven versions (including the J.League, which I thought was even better). When I was younger, it was also my introduction to learning Japanese and my interest in Japanese culture.

Daisuke Matsui was my favourite player because he also played for Kyoto Sanga FC. If I remember correctly, I saw Kyoto Sanga FC play against Yokohama FC in Yokohama, so I think Nakamura also played. I'm especially glad you mentioned Matsui :D
During the 2002/2003 and 2003/2004 seasons, I watched approximately 6-8 J.League matches.

The old Winning Eleven games on the PS2 were something special and will always remain in our hearts.

Thank you for sharing your passion with us.

Sorry for your loss, buddy. Sending strength to you and your family 💙
Thanks❤️ , It's ok .. , I remember we used to spend a lot of hours me and my father each night in my school holidays just playing pes whole night until sunrise haha .. beautiful days.. but everything and everybody must come to an end , and I think we just need to enjoy our everyday life and appreciate more our people around us.. they might go someday.

You're welcome , yes after I've grown up I knew that daisuke matsui was actually one of the most talented wingers in Japan and he has was the first one to inspire me to play this series as he was the first player I saw in video games in general , I remember he had a story in 2006 world cup that he was on the list and got removed for another player if I'm not mistaken

As I've said in my previous comment yes death is a part of life we all are going to go one day , we should appreciate life experiences and our families , friends more because life is hard and at the end of the day you have memories , emotions , soul , and mind , his death transformed me to actually become more better and appreciate life more as a person because you don't know how you're impacting other people and how much they love you , and how this magical experience called "life" is actually about that memories and emotions at the end of the day , despite of sometimes not understanding what life means , money work or bills , you know those heavy serious topics .

And you're welcome I shared my
experiences because I'm sure a lot of people do too !

Ok I'll start first with my own analysis
And I'll list them from most played to less played and I'll analyze them based on fun gameplay, graphics and player models and accuracy of player individuality (something Konami does perfect with japanese players) , and the "Longevity" of it , meaning that yes the game can be enjoyable and good but for how long ? Which game after you forget winning eleven and go about your life , and then return to ?
also my opinions are based on ps2 and ps3 winning eleven games because I played them mainly there didn't focus on ps1 or ps4, if you have played PS1 or other versions of games I'd like to hear about it also !

The list is from less to most

1- WE2014 Aoki samurai no chousen :
This game offered a lot , you had j1 and j2 , Nippon challenge , and it's gameplay was improved a lot from pes 2014 , I overall played like 6000 matches since I started playing it and honestly I won't lie I was just playing it for the sake of j league at the time , the game is dull and repetitive, almost no individuality except for like 50 players in j league or something and no fun factor, but sometimes I come to play it just for the sake of forgetting some existential crisis I have .. and the player faces and models gave me a feeling that konami wanted to end it so fast.. which is so opposite to the other versions of j league like dlc2012 where they made it with time and patience and it was perfect.. one of the good things about this game is the graphics and visually looks great.

My Rating (6/10)

Next game(s) comes next comment

Next game(s) in terms of longevity:

Second place comes : J League winning eleven 10 , it was a good game , had 2006 gameplay , but it was poorly made faces and graphics in general when the company had more time than ever with the success of pes 6 and that there wasn't a known (pes7) you had time to create more realistic faces and graphics in general , the same goes for me with j league 2007 club championship, it's like a refined version of the previous one with more updated player graphics but both of them are in the same position for me , but if you asked me will you play it .. I'll say probably no .. the rating 5/10

Third place : j league winning eleven 8 asia championship , the gameplay was fun , entertaining, the player faces were more better being generic than those Photoshops that were done with we9 and we10 haha , I really liked this game and from time to time I'd like to play a couple of matches with it , but will I love it .. I don't know .. Rating (7/10)

Next comment comes my best games that I love actually playing and enjoy them and I can come back to from time to time

Hi,

First of all, my sincere condolences, I'm sorry for your loss. And thanks for sharing your story, it has been a nice read.

I've myself grew with 90's Serie A but always had a soft spots with some "exotic" (from an European point of view) national teams, clubs or leagues.

For instance, I surprised myself to scream like if it'd be Italy who would have scored when Luis Hernandez from Mexico (my favourite team after Italy for no reason Il can really explain) scored in this damned 8th final vs. Germany in WC 98. Or more recently with Flamengo during Club WC...

And I have also a (very soft) spot with J-League too. There, my favourite team is Yokohama FC but I'm also following Tokyo Verdy and Consadole Sapporo.

I started to follow Yokohama FC thanks to King Kazu Miura. I also have an official Shunsuke Nakamura shirt (season 2021). For Tokyo Verdy, it's mostly because of the Kappa shirt and the fact Hulk played there. And Consadole Sapporo, I don't know why, but I just used to like their Kappa kit, their emblem, their stadium, the fact they are in Northern, calmer part, ... It just started from there.

Because of my love for this league, I've added full J2 League in my PES 6 and PES 2008 OF + a couple of J1 teams too to complete the editing of "other league C". And even for my WE 2008 OF, I've added 2 Japanese teams.

Regarding the J-League games, I've :
- JLWE2007CC (PS2)
- JLWE2008CC (PS2)

And just recently ordered JLWE9AC (PS2).

I would dream about creating a "pnach" file (soft patch for PCSX2) that only translates the menu items of JLWE2008CC game but still using the original ISO. Maybe with the help of AI it'll be possible. Who knows...

JLWE2008CC is for me the best football game on PS2. The atmosphere, the stadium, the immersion, the gameplay, the rythme, the details, ... But myself, the lack of NT makes me prefer WE 2008.

JLWE2007CC is for me the "ultimate official PES 6" game and I feel strange it's not mentioned often by the WE10 or PES 6 lovers (I've not played JLWE10 + European Leagues 06/07 though...).

I'll soon received JLWE9AC that I recently ordered.

I'm sure @NeoRetro would also have some good input on JL games !

Thanks for your kind words and support ..
I loved your content and your devotion thanks for everything man
And yes I'm with you totally jlwe2008 is the ultimate game , I'm dreaming of actually having the original cd and a ps2 .. I don't know maybe I'm stupid but the experience on ps3hen as I'm playing is not original enough if you know what I mean , I'll order it one day maybe I'm busy or lazy haha

You can easily find these games on eBay.
And even from a European PS2 you can easily load them (FreeMCBoot, ...) if you even want to play from an original disc.

I'm surprised you're not emulating these games or just flat out prefer the real hardware.

I do emulate. And prefer this over playing on original hardware for convenience purpose (playing original hardware on a modern TV is not a good experience).

But I still want to own a physical copy of the game. I dumped all my games (incl. cartridge games myself).

I even dumped the required bios from my consoles myself.

Yeah owning real hardware and real hard copy games is great. I had a modded PS2 back in the day. Ordered all Winning Eleven titles from Play-Asia. Probably the best years of my teenage life.
