I loved to control the ball with the chest and do a bicycle kick from 30m. "Long shot" + "Volley" was the best combinaison of skills . Batistuta was the best for that.

Keepers difficulty/super jumps were unreal but it was necessary for not scoring 20 goals on hard. I think I'm going to play the game tomorrow if I find my N64 .

Which is another thing they could implement in PES at the current time. The "Chest Control" command with the lob button when the ball was in the air was brilliant. COuld be made a little less robotic and "perfect", as could lots of things from the ISS days, but why isn't that in PES yet? So many times have I struck a longball to a teammate who is sneaking just by the sideline, and the ball just goes out of bounds just above his head. It's been long since I played ISS but I still itch to tap the lob button to make my player turn around and chest that ball into submission...

Konami really dont know where they are going with PES it seems. 2008 has got to be one of the worst football games ive played in many years.

I still give ISS 98 a bash on the PJ64 Emulator.....

My fav is definitely ISS98. ISS2000 has a much less enjoyable framerate, it feels laggy in a way. Going from ISS2000 to '98 makes for a huge difference.

But they are all nice for sure.

Those were the old golden days, spending every day after school flirting with girls etc in-game. Being Swedish I also had lots of laughs about the "Swedish" names everyone had if you chose Sweden as a country. Men having girls-names, people having names I've never seen before, etc.

oh yes, you're right.. of course it is PJ64, I've nissed a key when typing

I can run ISS64 and ISS98 quite properly on PJ64.. but there are some glitches that ruin the gamong experience (such as the player standing onto a black square instead of having a proper shadow)..

:lmao: Going back to the N64 original controller is turning into a pain.. on PJ64 I remapped all the keys accordingly to the PES6 ones but there is no way to have them right on the N64 controller

For me it was perfect. How to curve the ball with Z. You could use it for everything : long shots, passes, FKs.

Yeah, that was a great move. Choose the snowy pitch, kick a long ball, curl it and watch your opponent slip and fall on the ground in the useless try to change direction to reach the ball. :lol:
Now, you have your man 1 on 1 with the keeper, kick a shot and watch the keeper save it. ](*,)

Curling the ball with the trigger (especially on crosses) was a very useful feature.. but hey, I'm going really mental trying to get used to the N64 controller again..

Yep thats my complaint of ISS 2000 on the PSX, you get 1 on 1 and the keeper saves most of them!

I popstation'd Iss 2000 (PSX) to my PSP the other night and this game really has got something!! I played it for about 2 hours and I love the way you can change direction and move in seemingly more directions than PES.... Obviously besides this its arcadey but its fun!

Ive recently got my psp to play the following psx games:
ISS PRO EVO 1 and
ISS PRO EVO 2 and PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 2 (Both seem to be the exact same game)
They are amazing
Took me ages as id convert the psx iso to an eboot file via popstation, but could never get the keys.bin file??? oh well..luckily i found these files after some searching and together with popsloader they work fine on my 3.71 m33 custom psp firmware.. oh i love my psp
Still i think we2008 kicks ass.. must be the best portable footy game to date me thinks

lol If you get Autopopstation4 you dont need the Keys.bin file as its already included within the package.

Back to the subject, played ISS 98 for the N64 the other night using the Emulator 1964 (which basically seems to actually run more games playable than PJ64) and I must tweak my config because the game runs WAY too fast!

Oh wow I remember this. And the ones on PSone after. Infact, I'm sure I still have the PSone games still buried away somewhere. I used to play this quite a bit along with FIFA 98, they really were great when I first got them. Groundbreaking game at the time in my opinion. Looking at screen shots and stuff now though, it's amazing how much things have changed.

We can play ONLINE now, thanks to ePSXe and kaillera! Online game is better than in PES2008

Lots of memories from playing that one (Still have PES2 for the PS1 as a .bin on my computer, I bought it).

But, I wouldn't be able to play it now, no R2 trap, stiff movements, no control shot, no supercancel etc. PES5 is the best for me still. Cheers for the videos though.

In ISS'98 mayby yes, but in WE2002/PES2 Konami fix it You can set in strategies Offside Trap and switch on when you want in the match No control shots? You have power, you can lob, what do you need more? Supercancel? There is [] + X
