Internships with football teams

I was wondering if anyone here can fill me in on how internships with football clubs work in England? I'm an American and I know little about how these things work in the UK compared to over here. Do you get paid? What kind of hours do you work? When do they normal start and end?

Also, I have a very high level contact with a premier league team so I'm not completely shooting in the dark here to find something.
