Having not wanted Mclaren as Manager to start with and having seen his abysmal start to his England reign I wanted him gone.

I thought the beckham removal was cheap grandstanding and wlecoming him back foolish.

But

Then he picked Barry in midfield, dared to drop Lampard and brought Heskey back, we gained balance and did very well and were good for a few matches and unlucky in Russia.

At that point I thought ok we probably haven't qualified but he is getting better and maybe he needs more time and another crack at it.

Then Iooked at tonights line-up...

Gerrard and Lampard in midfield](*,)

They have played together over 30 times, it has NOT worked.

How many times do you need to try a combination to know it doesn't work?

50, 75, 100?

How many is enough?

Not only that but by playing the two he actually gives them the chance to "do ok for once". That would give him an even bigger headache and make it even more difficult to drop one of them.

It has taken England literally YEARS to realise that this partnership does not work and completely lacks balance, it has taken literally YEARS to gain the balance that a Barry or Hargreaves gives the side in combination with either Gerrard or Lampard.

And in finding this out and in getting beyond this hurdle of dropping one of them....

Mclaren unlearns the lessson painfully learnt and re-created the hurrdle.

It is the football managerial equivalent of....

Discovering the wheel and then un-inventing it.

He is a retard and I want him gone NOW!!!!

Lets hope we get mauled and get rid of this absolute and utter moron.

You English lads are really very sad... insteed of supporting your national team, your country, your mother land you still prefer throw it down.

I'm Sorry, but it is true!

This is the first and only time I have not supported England in an international match.

There comes a point when winning is more damaging in the long term than losing.

I am sorry, but unfortunately my above statement is true.

This regime is like an old pet in pain that needs to be put down.

People do not have their animals put down because they do not like them or are cruel, they do it in the best interests of the animal.

Like I said it would be better to have lost for the long term interests of England.

If anyone thinks that we can ever do anything, win anything with this manager- I think they are crazy. I would like to see England build for the future now and have that hope.

P.S

Don't slur my character for not supporting my country- you don't know what you are talking about.

We're not doing this because we like to, we're doing this for the future of our national team.

Whats fickle got to do with my post? Wanting to get rid of our FA is not fickle in anyway! We have achieved little to nothing in the past 41 years, It's time to look higher than the current players or even the manager, who was out of his depth to start with. The fault lies with a bunch of overpaid suits, who are looking for yes men and a free ride..

I'm not saying we should boo them, I just dont support them anymore. If people stop caring hopefully we'd get a manager who knows what he's doing and a group of players who can play, not a group of egos.

If you look at the attitude that managers like Ferguson, Wenger and Benitez hve towards the English national team, i'm afraid that the team will never perform...and then there are the ego's of the players like Rune has mentioned. Maybe Mc Laren isn't the best possible coach for the English national team, but i'm not sure if any other coach would do better.

And then there is the biggest problem IMHO, the press..the way the tabloids write about the national seems awful to me...

We have something similar here in Belgium: there is a negative spiral towards the national team in the press. In the last two qualifying campaigns our national team had a draw in their first (home) match and that against countries like Lithuania and Kazachstan. Not a good result, but the press already wrote after one match that all was lost... coach, FA and players let themselves be carried away by these stupid comments and that way it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy...

English football (well the national team) should get rid of a strange mentality that comes from the fact that they invented football (Chinese people will disagree because they claim to have invented everything including inventors): English football is reluctant to learn and adapt from/to other football cultures (for example the way they always struggle against "diving" teams). Since Wenger this has changed for (certain) big clubs, but the national team never succeeded to manage that...Mourinho would not be a bad choice as England mananger (he would have the guts to put Gerrard on the bench for starters).

I don't think the attitude here will ever change, no matter who is in charge. It's starts so early in the development of kids, as soon as they start kicking a ball, right through to international football. The England Manager is just the very tip of the iceberg!

Gutted about the scoreline. I am now awaiting us to scrape through and brag about how theyre gonna win etc. Pathetic.

you know i remember Brazil struggling to qualify for world cup 2002,if i remember well they ended up fourth but that didn't stop them to win it!it's a complete different story when you are in!!so for me i think they can definitely win it:)

vanzandt your still an idiot lol and russia just scored

Who are you to call me an idiot?

Flaming is the lowest form of communication on the internet and idiocy of the highest order, so well done to you.:applause:

Just because I do not share your opinions don’t sink so low, I do not talk to you like this.

Interestingly, would you have even wrote what you did without hindsight?

The question is rhetorical because the fact is- you wouldn't.

People who act like they are all knowing after the fact….well it is, cheap and easy- we can all do that.

Besides all that is to miss the point for my opinion.

My reasoning and my statement had absolutely nothing to do with the EURO group standings and everything to do with the fact that Mclaren’s managerial decisions seem very poor and I have now have no faith in him delivering a major trophy.

We waited for years persevering with Sven when we knew what his failing was post Japan and Korea in 2002. We gave him time and another tournament so he could repeat the exact same failings. Nothing changed from one world cup to the next.

I feel that Mclaren will still be making the same mistakes that have been made so far if he remains in charge. In fact if England beat Croatia, I feel that he will make the same errors in the tournament main and if he fails, but not badly enough he might even get given the following world cup and history will just continue repeating itself.

If a man cannot see that Gerrard and Lampard cannot play together after playing badly as a pair for 35 matches over years and multiple world cups;

I have no confidence in such a man.

Pairing Gerrard and Lampard for the 36th time was the bullet for me.

If you do not agree with that then that is fine, but do not get personal and flame me as I do not do that to you.

P.S

Funny how the logic works with such things, people thing this is negative thinking, I don't think it is at all, I say get qualified on Wednesday if we can and then sack him and bring in someone with a proven track record.

If England go through I would rather see the job offered to Hiddink than continue with Mclaren.

By the way Holland had no problem sacking a coach prior to EURO 1988 and then went on to win the EUROs that year- so it can be done.

One last thing...just wanted to say unlucky to the Scottish lads- fantastic campaign and just seriously unlucky.

Fair point. If I had a button that could remove them for us both I would.

Hiddink won't be England coach, first he's got a contract with Russian NT till WC 2010 and second he 'll more likely not go there as from what I know he's been offered this job already, even before Russians approached him with an order, but he refused.
