Has anyone got any decent tips. Ive just started playing online. I am fine going forward but seem to lose every game by the odd goal. Someones just beat me 6-5. Ive been playing pro evolution since day one but on the ps2. Defence used to be my best attribute but on the 360 I seeem to really struggle.

Ive tried putting my back 4 right back but I seem to get outpaced and turned by all of the top strikers. People seem to regulary beat me down the wings with very average players.

Has anyone got any tips?

Maybe it's just the way the 360 contoller ACTUALLY is. It is a completely different feel to what PS contollers are, that caused me a few slip ups in my master league.

The best advice I can offer is to make the defence stand back. The movement is such that they'll eventually run into each other or something daft. Everything about PES6 for the 360 is pretty shambolic when compared with PS2.

Play 5 at the back (you can still push your wing-backs up and play with the central of your 3 centre halfs a little further back (not much, not like a sweeper) should work ok.

try putting your attack arrows on backwards for your backline etc, move your defensive line deeper

If you don't have any problems scoring, go 3 at the back, stack your attack and score more goals. Works for me!

Otherwise, yeah, turn your arrows to backward, maybe even man mark on their best player, if really worried do all that and add a Makelele DMF style position in front of your back 4 to stifle your opponent, or a sweeper behind your back 4. Either way is good, I find 5 at the back in one line can actually cause confusion and be detrimental.

Actually it also depends on where you are leaking goals from in terms of service. If you are getting done on the flanks with your fullbacks getting done....change them to centre backs...so you have four centre back as that stops the players in the fullback positions from moving forward.....a bit like Chelsea.

Of course that does limit what options you have in an attacking sense, so it depends upon your formation as to whether that is a good or bad thing.

I wouldn't bother with placing the attack arrows backwards as it has far less effect that what I have just suggested.

If you are leaking goals through the centre, you could try playing with a defensive mid if not doing so, or even two defensive mids covering the back four.

All this said it is more about the skills of defending that come with play and practice.

ahah you got beatten 6-5 and yall keep sayin PES is the true sim footie game.Im waiting on thomas goal opinion of the demo to see if thomas is a honest person or a fanboy.

Personally i find playing a back 4 of all centre backs rather than a left back and right back works best. You have then always got those 4 plays in a deep position when the oppposition attacks.

Don't rush into the strikers... maintain a little distance from the ball, until they get distracted and then you steal it.

Jockey!! I've mastered it and have often been complimented online at how difficult i am to break down. Starting out though, it might be a good idea to set both your lb and rb to cb. They won't go on overlapping runs that can leave you vunerable to counter attacks..

Man, its little things like this that make me love PES. You'll never have a topic like this in the FIFA thread!!

What team are you using?

What is your formation?

Try creating four CB,s in stead of a RB and LB
Put Defence on High (Blue Arrows)
the two side defenders check the attack arrows best to have the forward and back attack arrow combination.
you can detail just one central defender to man-mark the main striker.
Check your Team Strategy - back line set to either B or C works best your defence work in a more solid unit.
Have any of your defender got the D-line star? ...this helps that person become the organiser for your defence.

i have 5 at the back, i move my whole team back 3 spaces, if the other team has a really powerful accurate striker i make sure he is man marked. apart from that i leave it pretty much standard, oh in rare case i get someone sent off i will always make my rb and lb cb's so they dont move forward too much. When you are controlling a defender, you should very rarely use the sprint button except when chasing someone down. if i know a winger is looking for a cross i just run normally alongside them maybe give the sprint button a tap to here and there to keep up but u dont want to sprint then when u realise they have stopped, they have made the cross and you have run straight past it all.

What is the best system against human for you? I was playing 4-3-3 like Chelsea at pes6 but now the game is different and the system of Chelsea has chanced. Sorry for my English
