I am Playing Pro 2008 Right Now!!!!

in all honesty i dont think its acceptable for there to be a framerate problem. But, at the same time, I found myself not actuall giving a monkeys. People who like the game can do that too.

Im not excusing Konami from anything - there are loads of things im pissed off about the game, however, moaning here wont change them - and everyones going to get it anyway. I certainly wouldnt say anything negative until id played it thats for sure.

Its not brilliant - like it could and should have been - but its ver good. IMO.

And as for the arcade / sim thing - maybe it is supposed to be a sim...howeer...its not. Its an arcade game. Thats that. And a damn good one.

It does feel like PES again, you actually feel in control of what your doing unlike the new FIFA and the awful PES6.

IT IS VERY FAST!

Getting on the shoulder of a defender and just running half the length of the pitch at top speed in a straight line till you are in the box. By far the most effective way of scoring (75% my goals have come this way). Not exactly realistic, especially when you do it with Huylens on Top-Player in the Master League. The defender with you just stays with you and the rest of them just bolt like rabbits in the headlights.

If you try a passing game your screwed, get it to the forwards and run, run, run, its the only way it seems.

Your fellow defenders AI is fairly suspect. If they were basing the defence AI on O'Leary era Villa they have pretty much got it bang on, last ditch isn't the word!

Having a picture of a fan on a bench in the top corner of the menu screen revolutionises the Master League experience.

Its PES again make no mistake about it, but thats all, PES:Shiny Edition. There will be times when you love it and times when the controller will go flying across the room and if thats not PES I don't know what is.

I agree, played the pc version and Konami might have well released it in the arcades.

Oh, and when the little screen comes up to show an injured player running back onto the field..... pretty much like punching the game in the balls.

Other than that I have had no slow down issues. I play with wide camera and with HD on incase you were wondering.

yep the slowdown when an injured player comes back on is disgraceful (feels like a pentium 486 running Vista with 32mb ram), but on the other hand i've yet to experience it at any other time apart from the replays ...so all in all the gameplay experience is all that matters in terms of framerate and it's pretty much spot on.

i'm not going to bother trying Live as it sounds crap, i'll wait until it's sorted with a patch (let's hope).

the more i play the more i like, i don't agree it's not a passers game though ....passing is harder to hit but you can still do it ...give and go is still a winner.

its way too fast!!

Live just totally peeved me off, I had my third game against a ManU side winning 2-0 and then the screen froze but it was still playing in the background and I could hear the sound and menu when I pressed it. The screen didn't move then it got to half time and kicked me out of live so I end up losing 3-0 and tarnish my until then 0 goals conceeded and 2 wins out of 2...absolutely gutted!!

Yes I like my games to be as close to the real game as possible but for some reason Konami have made this latest version play more like an arcade game. I thought this year we would see konami really push home its advantage over Fifa with the next gen versions but sadly after playing both PES2008 & Fifa08 EA are closer to the real game

Played again online tonight...its stupidly fast, there is no way I am going to enjoy playing this online for 12 months its like taking speed or something, if I change the view to wide its not as bad but I can't see the players closeness when dribbling etc.

I think Seabass must have been smoking something when he QA's this to make him think the speed was ok...FFS!!!

having now played both the PC & 360 versions i can honestly say that 360 owners have a right to feel pi**ed off.

the PC version is just simply superior in every aspect :-

- hardly any slowdown in replays ...replays are probably 25-30fps on avg.
- no slowdown during gameplay when injured player comes back onto field with the animation on the bottom of the screen
- gameplay just feels 'better' ...i can't put my finger on it yet but it's just easier to hit passes together on the PC version for e.g.....compared to the PC version i think the 360 suffers from some slight slowdown during gameplay @ all times...it just doesn't feel as slick or something ... anyway so far i much prefer gameplay on the PC - 30 secs into my first game i realised something was different.

i think the fact there's no slowdown during the injured player animation says alot about the 360 version.....the machine cannot handle the port 100% which was obviously done on the PC as it seems to run ALOT nicer on it.

maybe a patch can improve performance...who knows.

all i would say is to try the PC version if you don't like the 360 ...be surprised if you don't agree with my assessment.

I have been playing the game since I downloaded it on sunday, here are some thoughts:

- People who are winging about there being slowdown on the replays - get a life. Slowdown on the replays - oh no, it ruins the game! Rubbish. Yeah the replas are not great but the were never as good as the ps2 version anyway.

- The lag is pretty attrocious - even on the good matches it can make a 1v1 online unplayable as they dance through with the ball. However, why are people so suprised? We all know a patch will be out in a week or so - the games not even supposed to be released yet...and were moaning that the online code isnt standing up. Admitted, Fifa doesnt do that, but Fifa probably have a whole lot more people working on this area. When the lag s sorted out im happy to say it should be smooth running because setting up and playing a 1v1 game is really easy.

- commentating. For anyone who has played the new Fifa you have been spoiled...its awesome commentary on that (even though I hate Andy Gray). The commentating on PES is ok - context is usuall correct (unlike Fifa) - however, Mark Lawrenson proves once more that he is absolutely awful by reading all his lines that must have been scripted for him like a 5 year old in a nativity play. Hes is awful.

- dribbling - i like it because i like running fast and getting round players. Its not realistic though, at all - this is an arcade game not a simulation (like fifa) so be prepared for that.

- shooting - it actually volleyed when i wanted it to last night so thats a start.

On the whole - I really like it, but loads of people wont. Same as every PES game so far then.

Probably a ban heading your way if mods see you saying you downloaded PES ...

I played it yesterday, something is strange, the demo was awful for me, playing at a ridiculously high speed...however the full game played much better, slightly faster than pes6...ithink the tv seems to make a big difference in terms of playing speed and fps.

The game aint out officially till the 26th so maybe the servers will be faster then?? plus all the faults can be patched if konami sort it out, No games perfect on release.
