I am Playing Pro 2008 Right Now!!!!

I got it yesterday, still unsure about it.

Awful lag online at the moment, and extremely low framerate for instant replays.

Legendinho - tell me what is the speed like on 360? Does it feel realistic and is the dribbling realistic? HAve heard bad reports that its too fast...

Just finished my first game!!! Have to say it is faster than pro 6 but I think it is still a good solid game!! Need to play a few more times to really get into it. I ll keep you posted

I've just played my first game also, really not impressed with it in the slightest.

Been playing FIFA the last few weeks and the fake teams/leagues I was once used to now seem ridiculous.

FIFA has better graphics and gameplay to me, I can lie to myself that I prefer PES, but that's all I would be doing, lying to myself.

Really doesn't feel like any of the past versions sadly, and they haven't made enough positive changes to make the game worthwhile.

That's just my opinion though!

So basically it's worth £10 not £40?

What's the dribbling like? I remember regularly beating about 4 players on the hardest setting with Gary Neville in PES6...

In my mind, pretty much.

I was a HUGE fan since the ISS series, and although it's stupid to make a conclusion based on 2 games, I'm not really enjoying it at all.

I've had it on Professional (2nd highest setting) and the defence just pass the ball around for half the game with you having no chance of receiving it.

no only 15 stadiums and i think there's only 2 or 3 english, being old traford/ t james' and anfield. no Emirates for me:(

Only 15 stadiums from the beginning , 3 Portuguese :D.

Drible is now more dificult , u cant go trough more than 2 players and if u do u must be with C.Ronaldo and in a good day :D.

FrameRate drops a lot in Replays , Player now run slower than before , no more crazy speedy driblers.

I still dont know how to insert my face , it asks for a cam ...

From what i have played it's more realistic but with the same graphics with new ways of play...

I'm a trully Pes Fan but i can see for myself that Pes2008 only beat Fifa2008 ( xbox360) in the gameplay.

FreeKicks are better now , not so easy as Pes5 But a lot easier then Pes6.

The intro isnt the same as the movies whe saw in Youtube , there is now a horrible intro in my op.

Corners are hard !! Defenders now even the slower one's can catch easy the skilled driblle players.

Only Newcastle And Tott are registed Teams in England :(.

As soon as i play more i will catch up

Anyone tested slowdown under these conditions-

1) On or Off HD on the switch (from component cable)
2) Widescreen or long camera view.
3) Crowd sounds off/on
4) Commentary off/on
5) Whats the best stadium to minimise slowdown on replays.

Playing FIFA08 for the last two weeks, and now coming to this feels odd. It is sooo fast? Or the ball moves to fast I think.

As for the game, wth is it with the graphics from Wide camera, still looks like HD version of PS2 version :(

But gameplay is good, and diving is good fun lol!

I know its only one vs one online, but is it possible to play "2 on one ps vs. 2 on on ps?

then it's just 2 IPs involved

Replays are pathetic, they're on like 10 speed fast-foward.

Slowdown seems unreal on the normal settings with a lot of people in the area.

Haven't yet made a sucessful dive despite some looking like blatant fouls.

I can't get used to it :(

Edit: What's up with the players running like complete retards off the ball?

I've now lived with the game for 2 days, and i have to say, its very poor imo.

The graphics are jerky, its too fast, instant replays are HORRIBLE.

I really for the life of me know how testers at Konami played it at length and decided it was good enough to realise, i'll be checking the PS3 versions out for comparison asap.

Got the game Yesterday. Enjoying it a lot! (Played against a friend offline, online and against the cpu (top player)).

Gameplay is great, good pace en nice duels. Low/high passing and shooting feels very good, I really get the feeling I am in control. Animations of the players are supurb, nice new moves when receiving and dribbeling the bal.

Graphics are ok from a distance. Closups are great to but the problem is that closups occure only during replay's and the replay's suck. It's as if not every frame is recorded to save memory (read somewere that a single reply takes up 4MB).

Offline against a friend gives great duels! enjoyed this very much. Online is not great (yet, I hope this will be resolved when game is officially launched on the 25th). The first game went reasonable but the second game was terrible to laggy.

Against CPU is good but wasn't a succes, lost my first game 0 - 4 against Turkey :). But its challenging and that is great!

I haven't tested the edit mode except for renaming a Stadium and reassining two players (one for an international team and one for club).

Overal, great game! but it is ofcourse a bit sad that it isn't supurb yet (replay lag and online lag).

A large dvd\cd shop in the Netherlands sold the game as of Saterday. Got mine Yesterday, but heard from a friend that today this shop was orderd to cancel the sales and that they have to wait untill the official launch on thursday. so I am a bit lucky..

I have been playing the game since I downloaded it on sunday, here are some thoughts:

- People who are winging about there being slowdown on the replays - get a life. Slowdown on the replays - oh no, it ruins the game! Rubbish. Yeah the replas are not great but the were never as good as the ps2 version anyway.

- The lag is pretty attrocious - even on the good matches it can make a 1v1 online unplayable as they dance through with the ball. However, why are people so suprised? We all know a patch will be out in a week or so - the games not even supposed to be released yet...and were moaning that the online code isnt standing up. Admitted, Fifa doesnt do that, but Fifa probably have a whole lot more people working on this area. When the lag s sorted out im happy to say it should be smooth running because setting up and playing a 1v1 game is really easy.

- commentating. For anyone who has played the new Fifa you have been spoiled...its awesome commentary on that (even though I hate Andy Gray). The commentating on PES is ok - context is usuall correct (unlike Fifa) - however, Mark Lawrenson proves once more that he is absolutely awful by reading all his lines that must have been scripted for him like a 5 year old in a nativity play. Hes is awful.

- dribbling - i like it because i like running fast and getting round players. Its not realistic though, at all - this is an arcade game not a simulation (like fifa) so be prepared for that.

- shooting - it actually volleyed when i wanted it to last night so thats a start.

On the whole - I really like it, but loads of people wont. Same as every PES game so far then.

- Do you think it's acceptable to have framerate problems on replays then ?
- Apologising for Konami's lack of resources (just the 100+ people) in dealing with lag is lame - though they may well have a patch out in a week, wouldn't it have been better to fix it BEFORE release ? I don't expect a patch fixing their crappy (rumoured) transfers or edit mode, they're important problems as well.
- No surprise on Lawrenson, though he sounds like that on tv as well.
- Dribbling stuff, you make a fair point. It's arcadey, and this is supposed to be a simulation, as far as I remember.
- Shooting. I'll tell you when I've played it, can't be much worse than PES6's "whiff of defender = over the bar shot" physics.
- I think you're underestimating most peoples' expectations of this game. It doesn't just have to be better than PES6, it has to make up for a lot of crap that NG people have been putting up with since PES5, unless they had PES6 on PS2. So far Konami's lack of features, refusal to sort the basics like player names, and failure to address simple problems (League structure, tournaments etc.) leaves them a LONG way short.

This year PES2008 sounds like it's going to be a slightly better PES6 with a load of problems and no way to make it more realistic. FIFA 08 is a mile better than 07, with a myriad of game mode options and things to do other than just play one on ones or online, and is pretty real to begin with.

I hate to say this, but FIFA's got the edge from having that and reading about this. Maybe when I've got PES I'll feel different, but I already preferred FIFA on the Demos, and I'm all about the realistic-looking simulation-style game.
