Help editing Switch games

Hi there, I have FIFA 19 on the Nintendo Switch, and I'm more than a bit frustrated by the fact that my country is so underrepresented thanks to the exclusivity deals' a-holery. I want to mod my game to include the missing teams, but I have no idea how; the only such mode I've seen is for 18 and the maker would never respond to me when I contacted.
Anyway, how do I mod FIFA for the Switch? Which tools and other things do I need? Any help would be appreciated.

I have same question, too, but for FIFA 21. Sadly, like no one have interested in Switch version, and in another forum which is Soccergaming, i even post question about it for a member who worked on Switch patch, but then my question got deleted, and likely no tutorial for how to do it properly.

It like finding needle in the sea. I guest we need to figure it for yourself. If you find anything that may helpful, share it in here. Maybe another modder will help.

You can’t manually edit it and the only way to mod it would be to have a hacked switch. Even then I’m unsure if anyone has modded anything for FIFA switch anyway.

From what i search and know:
First you need to extract full game from .nsp or .xci file.
Modding is similar to FIFA 14, 15, 16.
You need correct db file to show correct list of teams, players,...
You need convert face to FIFA 14, 15, 16, then using tools to import and edit it.
To test mod, you don't neccesary need hacked Switch. You can use Switch emulator to test it.

There is also a patch for FIFA 21 and FIFA 22 on Switch, but on FIFA 22, career mode not working properly.

For anyone curious about how to mod FIFA Switch, here is my guide for doing it. Hope it helps someone.

1. Download tool and sample
- Sample mod folder link

- Extract and reimport BIG file:
quickbms and script ea_big4.bms

- Unpack extract file from BIG file:
quickbms and script chunklzx.bms

- Modify db files:
DBMaster

- Create and modify BIG file (size smaller than 1Gb):
fileBIG editor

- Regenrate bh file:
CG File Explorer 16

- Emulator:
Yuzu (Archive org)

2, Create custom patch:
- Open Yuzu, load NSP folder that have FIFA game file, install FIFA NSP/XCI Update, select FIFA NSP/XCI base game, choose Dump Full Romfs (base game + update).
- Go to dump folder, find patch.big, extract db files (fifa_ng_db.db and fifa_ng_db-meta.xml) using quickbms.
- Unpack fifa_ng_db.db and fifa_ng_db-meta.xml using quickbms.
- Modify db files using DBMaster for new mod files (for example you want to add new kit, then you need to add new row for that kit in kit table).
- If your new mod files doesn't make new locale.big bigger than 1GB, you can use fileBIG to add it.
If not, you need to use quickbms to reimport folder (new files + extracted files from locale.big) to locale.big (read Note if you don't know how to do it)
- Find patch.bh from dump folder, create a new copy and rename it to locale.bh
- Create new folder for locale.big and locale.bh, open this folder using CG File Explorer 16.
- Open locale.big, tick all changed files and choose Regenrate Selected.
- Create mod folder follow this structure like sample folder in step 1.

Note:
If locale.big size is bigger than 1GB, follow this step:
- Create folder A that contains locale.big extract files and new changed files.
- Create folder B that contains blank files cloned from folder A using cmd script (google it or using ChatGPT)
- Create new empty locale.big file and import all files from folder B to it.
- Reimport folder A to new locale.big file.

3, How to use custom patch:
Copy folder to atmosphere/content.

I thought I was going to dig up this thread, but thankfully this is rather recent.
How did you do it? Which tools did you use? There's no way this is such a big mystery, is there?
You can read my comment, it's a guide I made for someone curious about modding FIFA Switch. It may confuse or not fully cover all things, but I hope you read it carefully. It's not difficult and if you have some experiences with modding other FIFA games like FIFA 14, FIFA 16,... you will find it's very similar.

You could've just PM'd me...
Anyway, I have fiddled plenty with FIFA 16, but on Creation Master 16, which I found to be more hands-on. I might give DB Master a go, but it's a different beast altogether.
Plus I'm a complete newbie at console modding, I feel as if some of the instructions are skipping steps for me. Like, how do I extract the files from the game? In fact, I have the physical game, should I copy the files off of it (if so, how?) or can I pick up the ROM somewhere?
