Guitar Hero Thread

Activision has confirmed the September release date for Guitar Hero 5 that we told you about back in March. Gosh.

The 1st September date is stamped on the freshly-launched Guitar Hero 5 website alongside a sweepstake to win some real-life concert tickets if you can guess the full-game song line-up.

So far we know that the bands will include The Rolling Stones, The White Stripes, Kings of Leon, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Santana, Vampire Weekend, Beastie Boys, Coldplay, Duran Duran, Gorillaz, Jimmy Eat World, Muse and The Raconteurs.

We also know Guitar Hero 5 will allow players to use any combination of instruments and join in mid-song. It's less faffy.

There are plenty of other improvements besides. All the DLC for Guitar Hero World Tour will not only be compatible, but the existing game will be patched to support the upgrades and enhancements in GH5.

Head over to our Guitar Hero 5 gamepage for a couple of screenshots.

Good news about GHWT being patched to include the new features.

But from that, I bet that means there will be no 'import songs' feature like RB1 to RB2.

Some very interesting 'new' bands to the franchise there... Bush, Dire Straits, Arctic Monkeys and Tom Petty.

Not quite sure where/how the Gorrilaz will fit in and I hope the Stevie Wonder inclusion is 'Higher Ground'.

Found a Guitar Hero Arcade machine last night whilst waiting to go see Terminator 4 (shite).

Was like an excited child! The guitar weighs a tonne though and the whole thing feels like its been built like a tank (probably to withstand so many plays).

Because of that, it was very hard to push the strum bar (compared to a home guitar) and the game seemed to lag. Failed "Bulls on Parade" on 70% where I normally ace it.

Load of old shite :( Avoid it if you see one.

23/85 songs announced.

Some REAL mediocre choices here...

A Perfect Circle - "Judith"
Arctic Monkeys - "Brianstorm"
Attack! Attack! - "You And Me"
Blink 182 - "Rock Show"
Bob Dylan - "All Along The Watchtower"
Children of Bodom - "Done With Everything, Die For Nothing"
Elton John - "Saturday Night's All Right (For Fighting)"
Iron Maiden - "2 Minutes To Midnight"
Johnny Cash - "Ring Of Fire"
Kings of Leon - "Sex On Fire"
Love And Rockets - "Mirror People"
Santana - "No One To Depend On (Live)"
Stevie Wonder - "Superstition"
The Bronx - "Six Days A Week"
The Duke Spirit - "Send A Little Love Token"
The Killers - "All The Pretty Faces"
The Rolling Stones - "Sympathy For The Devil"
The White Stripes - "Blue Orchid"
Tom Petty - "Runnin' Down a Dream"
TV On The Radio - "Wolf Like Me"
Vampire Weekend - "A-Punk"
Wolfmother - "Back Round"

Tom Petty and Stevie Wonder will be good and the 'Monkeys Brainstorm will be mental on the drums. I'm learning some of their stuff on the drums myself at the moment and its very fast, very offbeat and way cool!

VAMPIRE WEEKEND!!!!!!!!! I think those are great party songs since most of them are popular...Sex on Fire... Brianstorm... Blue Orchid etc.

Apparently Morrisons are clearing out their stock of this and the full band pack is going for £40.

All 4 stores near me dont have it though :(

Guitar Hero Aerosmith brand new for £30 or original guitar hero for £20? Both come with guitars! What would you chose?

Original, definately.

Shall ring my mate :D The Aerosmith was brand new from HMV hmmm All Morrisons near me have sold out of the full world tour band pack! Instant profit right there and a good game as well!

EDIT: Just bought Guitar Hero III Legends Of Rock for £20 Along with the Guitar :D GET IN!

If I buy songs off the PSN can I use them in the game?

Not sure about GH II songs and DLC, PBoreham might be able to help there.

You want Rock Band anyway, GH is shit compared to RB :)
