Gran Turismo 5

Re: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

I mean they are ridiculously good screenies. They are both photo quality...

I like the way they have tried to make the graphics look real as well as just superb. Hard to explain, but I was watching a replay of the demo this morning and the cars looked 'fuzzy' - i.e. not pin sharp - on the roofs.

You appreciate that they have the sun glowing off the top of the cars as would do in real life - so you dont get a pin sharp image due to the haze of the bright sun.

Watched GamerTV this week too and it had the creator mucking around using the GT5 Wheel (Logitech?) - looks great, got a little jog-wheel for on the fly adjustments.

He was throwing a Ferrari F430 around and it looked awesome!

Roll on Thursday and we can get this baby online!

Bingham67, stop with the screenshots or i go to buy 46" FullHD TV and GT5P :HAND:

Re: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

There is imperfection or is on Japanese version you can see jaggies i play at 1080p strangely they dont stick out to me in game but only in menus.

The bright yellow Dodge Viper really stands out in the game you overtake it and its just wow. The level of detail on car models is quite stunning to the point you want to sit and stare at the sheer awesomeness every time you make an overtake.

Had some problems in the cockpit view on the Jap demo - VERY jaggy, but doesnt bother me as you dont look (or shouldnt!) at the side of the dash etc.

The actual racing, cars, track etc are jaggy free for me?...

Cant say i noticed any jaggies in actual racing even in the cockpit (although there probably there) but the Mypage menu the jaggies are evident and stick out like sore thumb.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

PAL version of Prologue will prompt the download of new update which will give the game a new title - Gran Turismo 5: Prologue Spec II. Notice that this update will clear all you previous QTS settings for all cars (in case you had PAL game earlier and opened S venue in order to get QTS) - so you'll have to tune them all again.

There are plethora of details in the update, while single most important is the terminal absence of ABS (if set to 0) for the first time ever in the series if ABS is set to "zero" in QTS menu. It's drastic difference compared to all other previous games, as well as all other GT5:P releases. ABS-0 makes drastic lock-out of wheels if brakes are applied too hard in both physics modes - Standard and especially Professional - thus making a car control a brand new challenge for GT series.

Another addition for the sim nuts lets just say it took a while didnt it.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

I really do hope they release a demo this week, I suspect I will hate the game as always but I just want to see graphics that look that good on my own television. It seems unreal.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

Hasnt there been a demo of prologue on the PSN Store for a while?

Re: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

The graphics look amazing!! I want to see what you all think when it comes out.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

On Japanese store yes not on European store what on European store is GTHD which is early life version of this it was canned by Polyphony.

This clears it up copy and paste from Wiki.

In March 2007 shortly before the release of Gran Turismo HD Concept v2.0, Polyphony Digital director Kazunori Yamauchi officially announced a "revision" in the "product strategy": "Gran Turismo 5 will be given priority".

Basically they chose to abandon the planned full version named Gran Turismo HD which was previously announced as Vision Gran Turismo at the E3 2005, then was first displayed during the Tokyo Game Show 2006 and was scheduled for a 2007 worldwide release to focus on developing Gran Turismo 5 instead.

Kazunori Yamauchi stated "Gran Turismo 5 will adopt most of the planned features of Gran Turismo HD", this is confirmed by the two "Gran Turismo x Skyline" trailers based on Gran Turismo 4 replay footages and early Gran Turismo HD Concept artworks or replay footages and including the line "Passage to Gran Turismo 5". "We are hoping to present [...] several Concept versions, each loaded with various experimental features" Kazunori Yamauchi added. That makes Gran Turismo 5 Prologue the first title of this planned experimental series since it is dedicated to online playing feature.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

I'm selling my iMac to fund a G25 steering wheel and monitor so I can move the PS3 upstairs and enjoy these racing games how they should be enjoyed!!!

Well excited now - I may even hold off playing GT5p until I get everything set up. Hoping my iMac sells asap!!

Re: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

there is no demo of this anywhere as well - i created a JPN psn uesterday and after being unable to find the demo i googled it and found that it was removed from the PSN a while ago

Re: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

Fucking hell those screens must be renders no?

No replay but i really cant tell much difference to in game then replay think maybe some extra AA.

But i hear in Pal version been upped quite abit and tearing sorted so im pretty happy with that seems its coming along with every installment. :))

Bingham have you played GT5 Prologue then? i heard you saying some people thought it was as good as Forza 2 so what do you think of it ? is it that good gameplay wise?

Yes i have had the Japanese version (its actually partly in english so quite easy to understand and there guides on net) for a while in the graphics department kicks the crap out of Forza 2 plus on some tracks up to 16 cars on track which is lovely bonus i must add.

Now as i explained before i think the improved physics are much better then any previous Gran Turismo there definately physics going on for sure but unlike Forza 2 you dont get menus to see what happening. I think the game on par with Forza physics wise but this is going to get mixed reaction by many and my view will differ to others i really hope people who buy it hear enjoy it.

I dont see to much wrong with handling either on both levels i can handle the car but obviously different type of cars are twitchy then others so have to be careful. There are 2 settings and you can also turn off Active brake, Stability Management, Traction Control and now with the Pal version ABS i play with all these settings off for better experience i think its going to require people tweaking settings to there taste because you can make handling very arcadey or full sim depending on requirements.

There is certainly quite abit of content and saving money to get new cars takes abit of time so its fairly lengthy. Plus now the Pal version has more cars F1 car for instance is 2 mill credits so going to take quite a while to get that if you really want it. The events are good but i wasnt to serious you dont have to get all golds in them and some are freaking hard to get gold but getting silver or bronze will take you to next stages after you completed all races. The additions of tuning (not parts adding) 2 player split screen (unfortunately you vs friend better not be like this for full game) more cars and 16 player online races i think there 35 events online i read which quite alot. There is quite a bit of content and well worth the £17-20 you pay for the game and even more so now the Pal version is released.

Oh and by the way if someone downloads here the downloadable version you can share it 5 times (i would save a few for yourself just in case any problems in future) my friend let me borrow his Japanese account to get it. So someone could pay half each for instance if its someone you trust and you can share it here with 5 people if you really wanted to save paying full wack. :-D

Edit: And there is also Gran Turismo TV which has video in to watch there mostly documentarys on the game and about a few cars i beleive this is where for full game Top Gear videos will be i should think.

You can save replays aswell i forgot to add would love to post a few of mine unfortuantely dont have the right equipment to do so shame cant upload them this could well be feature for future though with Home who knows.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

Me too, and it doesn't look like we're getting a demo any time soon.

So yeah, if anyone knows how this share thing works and they feel like being friendly, you know where I am. :)

Re: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

Unfortunately no shares to hand out to anyone else.

But if someone here buy the downloadable version off PS store you give them your login details they go to PS Store then into the stuff you downloaded section and can download it. (Remember though only 5 times and thats it so use it wisely.)

I ordered from Shopto disk version should be disptaching today so should have it tommorow with bit of luck.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

If I can't nab the demo from anyone who managed to get it from Japan, I'll just rent it from Blockbuster next week. I'm not going to pay £20 for it because I'm fully expecting it to be a disappointment - but I just want to see those graphics for myself.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

Yep, same here, but it's cheaper than paying £20 and then trading it in for £10. Or selling it on eBay for £15 and then finding out that minus the eBay fees, the Paypal fees and the Gordon Brown Wants Your Money fees you've got just enough left for a newspaper and a can of Coke.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

Looking at those screens can you imagine how good this will be when they have a good damage engine in ...:-...

It is mouth watering but im really dubious about them having damage engine for full Gran Turismo in 09.

I have no idea how it works but amount of cars in the game i guess they have to work on every car to make sure it has correct physics for damage that must be time consuming.

Im pretty sure a full damage engine going to take few years at best to make but maybe its nearly made who knows i think crash engine in Burnout Paradise is very good if its anything like that be quite something.
