Google Gameplay Football - AI Reinforcement Learning.

What is this?.
Seems to be an open source football gameplay made by Google for Research resources and not released officially.






Here's the Github repository: https://github.com/google-research/football
(There's no installation or executable. You'd have to compile it yourselves).


And here's a very interesting video about AI's decision making process applied to this football game.


The most important thing of it all for me is...
Is this just a one-off? Looks very basic and rough around the edges but... Could they take this project forward in the future?. I really wonder if this was just developed for this sole purpose or... could we dream of having that largely craved 3rd football game, finally?.

Yes, you are right mate!
But I'm wondering if, now that Google has taken it (they didn't buy it because it was open-source to begin with) for this AI learning methods, it might push them to do something else with it in the future?.

Now that they even have their own "console"... who knows?.

Unfortunately Google doesn’t create videogames so this game won’t never released. But, maybe someone could use this AI for a football game (maybe an indie team game producer).

I wouldn't imagine they will expand their work into a playable game. The github page says there are architectural problems that mean it wouldn't be worth trying to continue development;

Would be cool if Google did get into developing games though - a great football game as a Stadia exclusive could stop it being a complete flop.

I don't really know if I want Google to do that. Microsoft tried it back in the day and Microsoft Soccer still haunts me during my nightmares from time to time.

I never played or knew about that football game, but Microsoft Studios used to make some great games. Age of Empires, Midtown Madness, Microsoft/Links golf series etc...

for the first game we are talking about who will win as accuracy but not as logs it means a randomize for time the game should finished is good but here you will control what's happening when you are not playing so another randomize timing for the first randomize timing but it should be conditional it means how far and close the ball from the receiver and her let that ai interact it means he can get it or not but a game like that movement speed should be the same and its very small one not that far like tennis

for the soccer game i have my vision as a basic start :
1- offensive positioning : where is the ball ?and it must be with an ally
2- defensive positioning : where is the ball? and it must be with opponent
like this we have a "Team Square" on field next will be :
2 players in front of the opponent who have the ball and the ally player behind them distance and steps should be depends on them and another ally player who can decide to come from behind and how far is he so here it can relate to how the opponent stay without doing anything and others are conservative etc ....

it is not that much of mathematics or signs it is just keywords the normal positioning while attacking or defending is like waves on the sea as a start but there is no behind push what push the backline for example is how much space forward players earned .
and that's it as 35% of basic thing
it is just how sometimes we make the things bigger when we gain experience WHILE doing the things that need experience ofc and we all know this but it is like adventure so why many complicated things that let the person look experienced when he is not and he don't even want to say that .
