[General Discussion] What have you been playing this week?

I tried the last MLB when it was out on PSN Plus and I couldn't figure it out. Baseball is also the only sport where I have watched a game for over an hour and still had no clue what was going on.

Completely hooked on MLB 21.
After a day or so to figure out best settings for batting and pitching I've started a career, really good fun.
Playing a one person career doesn't require expert knowledge, just basic ones.

One good thing is the different difficulty settings, you can use one for pitching and one for batting, right now I'm using a dynamic difficulty,it goes up the better I get (my player progresses)

Lovely game this!

Yeah there's a lot of depth to it. Might be worth putting most stuff onto the AI Manager to start with until you get familiar with it. I think there's a few videos on you tube that might help, probably for the previous version I'd imagine as this one's still new but it'll be pretty much similar and might be worth a look.

I've thought about having a one day at a time save before but never actually done it. Might have to bite the bullet on it when I get this version.

I want to stick it to the 12 clubs that wanted to break off for the Super League and ban them from European competition for a year or two in my FM21 save, but unfortunately you cannot do this with an in-game editor like FMRTE.

I suppose I could also severely penalize them, financially or via FFP, but I was wondering if anyone had any other creative ideas to achieve this objective. With FMRTE, you can edit a lot of in-game details, so maybe take away their big sponsors for a year or two. I'm happy to hear them.

Sounds like me and cricket.

A transfer ban maybe? Can you do that in the editor? Can you put the club into administration :BYE:

Lovely game this!

I'm happy for you that you are enjoying it. I play baseball in real life ever since i was 7 years old, turning 52 in June so you can imagine i love the game.
I have played every mlb the show....until this year.

It's crazy, since i have a ps5 and mlb the show 21 would have been my first ps5 game.
But they deleted too much stuff, so i refuse to buy it this year.

First of all, some years ago they deleted season mode. Not a big problem since you can choose franchise instead, but still they deleted it without informing us.
But my biggest gripe and the reasons i'm not buying it this year :

- they took out the carryover saves
- they took out sounds of the show

No longer having carryover saves means that all the great classic rosters from '20 are now not available. Roster makes will have to start over from scratch, and i'm not sure they are going to do that.
Not having sounds of the show on ps5 (it is possible on the ps4 version but right now it is bugged) is such a shame.
Adding your own stadium music and batter walkup music added so much immersion. I'm gutted that it's not there anymore.

But being the dinosaur that i am i mostly miss the classic rosters. I love playing seasons from the 80s and 90s.
Plus, mlb the show '20 plays great on the ps5. Smooth as hell and really really sharp too (which it was not on the ps4).

So, sadly i cannot motivate myself to go next gen. I hope things will return in '22 but fear that their focus is mostly on diamond dynasty, which is their FUT version.

But, i'm really happy for you. Since you did not play before (or hardly) you will probably not miss these things and can fully enjoy this year's edition.
Guess i'm just an angry old man who thinks fondly of times gone by when the gaming industry was not just about money (at least that's how i remember it, could be i just have a very bad memory though :).

Anyway : enjoy the game!

Thanks man!
I hear you,I've seen stuff come and go on my main sports game 2k,so I get your feeling.
A carry over is exactly what I'd want for 2k,I'm mainly a myleague guy (guess it's Franchise when it comes to MLB) imagine being able to have your save from 2k15 still active on 21 etc.

Recently I've played a lot of 2k14 which was the first game on PS4 /Xbox,though it lacks a few modes and servers are dead, the gameplay/physics/looks is still unmatched.
Guess 2k with its online modes and MLBs Diamond dynasty is where things are going towards.

But I'm still a happy camper both games still have excellent offline and SIM gaming Vs FIFA/Pes.

I also love playing classic teams, to be good thing on 2k is user roster, where people take their time to edit rosters pretty damn life like with tendencies etc,but also the in game rosters with classic teams are great.

I get that you're not buying a new MLB if the older ones are better, that's me and FIFA/Pes and also 2k at times.

Hope you get your love for the game back.

Yes, i played NBA2k20 every now and then.
For that i also use a classic roster, taking me back to the 90s. I love that in that game you can download logo's to make the courts more authentic.

Another sad thing for me about mlb the show 21 : we finally got stadium creator! It is far from perfect, since you cannot put any adds or logos on the stadium walls, but still it is a great addition.

In previous editions we would have great classic rosters, but lacked the authentic stadium to play them in.
In 21 it is now reversed : you can create the stadiums you need, but you no longer have the classic rosters.

So, i'm still hoping the roster community will work on the classic rosters. Problem is they have to start all over again and it is a LOT of work.
Second problem is : do they have a ps5 at all?

So, i'm hoping for those rosters and i may buy it later this year.

I've seen a lot of complaints from players, that this game now is going the FIFA route ,and hopefully it's not, from what I've understood, this game was pretty much the opposite of the micro transaction hell that is FIFA ,and more of a SIM game for true SIM gamers.

Yeah I hope they bring back features like you've described.

It seems even worse than FUT for the gambling/microtransactions.

I mean just look at this trailer they released last year;

Not even being subtle about it, almost the whole thing showing gambling/cards, people celebrating the thrill of opening a good pack or winning at literal casino games and slot machines, and somehow the game is 3+ age rated.

Only one I've owned was 2K16 and even back then I had to use ingame currency you can buy with real money just to change my career mode player's haircut.

Well first of all that's myteam and mycareer, and that's a microtransaction heaven.
And I was talking about MLB The show 21 and what path they're taking.
And for 2k I'm not bothered with their microtransaction, since they have the deepest simulation game modes/gameplay without using any virtual or real currency at all.
And games nowadays do have MT is shit I agree, but the modes I care for doesn't.
Compare that to FIFA who has MT as well, but has given up in their "simulation" gameplay around -16 and just keep developing their FUT side.

I need to get back into Alien Isolation... I think it was the first game I actually bought for the PS4, never got properly into it. Although it is one of my very few games on disk, and I have no idea where I put it

If you have a PC you can get it for free with epic games launcher til tomorrow 17:00 o'clock CET. And it will stay in your libary.

Call me a boomer, but up to today i can't forget the scares i got when i was 11 years old in my neighbourhoods local console club, when the older kids than us were playing those SEGA Saturn Horros games.

Even now, 24 years latter stil remember this game :)

Never played this but it would have scared me shitless as a kid. I actually find it quite eerie now!

Here you go @Carles P. …. Just a quick one I took 3 weeks ago to show my friends what I’m doing these days.

it’s just a first try of a POV Video. I strapped my GoPro under my chin with a simple string… very amateurish but it got the job done, I guess.
i am getting there. Learning new stuff every day. Love it.

edit: between that video and now, I think I got better in driving. Focusing on trail braking and car setups now.

Thanks! Do you play in MP or against the AI? I would recomend to play as a beginner only with time race to do a good practice about the tracks with the point of breaking and acceleration and so on. To get better and better with your track levels ( I forgot the correct names, it should be in the top right or top left corner when your driving.

But I'm with my Xbox 360 gamepad and not patient enough am I totally noob.
