Free Kicks for PES 2009

When i do score which is rare i hold Down + Left or Right and power up the bar and hold R2.
Are there any guides or tips to how to do free kicks and i find that my shots are either too powerful or hit the wall, they dont dip that well.

It becomes quite tedious to practice various combinations of controls from different distancces, if i knew what this combi did or that then i could go to training mode and practice it then i guess.
