Football Manager Series

Is anyone else excited for FM24? They are finally going to fix the bad AI managers when it comes to youth development and transfers. That was my major gripe on the last version(match engine was pretty good later on). This could be a very underrated version if they deliver(since most people are skipping this version).

Probably the least I have been excited about a FM in a while.
They have shot themselves in the foot by saying that this season isn’t going to have that many new features and they are massively working on changing the whole engine in FM25, which will also include mass changes.

Last season had massive improvements to the match engine and you could tell straight away.

I have still purchased the game already from CD Keys with the BETA.

I will however be excited for next seasons additional when they have stated there will be mass changes.

Yeah this season is more like improvements to other existing things than new additional things. However if the AI manager is still bad at squad building, then this version will be the worst FM in my opinion since that's the main selling point.

the only football sim this year but I am afraid I should put myself on a one year loan to the pc with an option to divorce around March next year if I start playing it :D
Lol this is why I have been avoiding this game for the last several years while I enjoy it the time sink is huge for me.

To the specialist, why is there no way to make season updates as for a pes 21...??
You can download modded databases for FM23 for the 23/24 season if you don't care about the gameplay updates that are in FM24.

Personally, I think the gameplay updates for FM24 sound absolutely brilliant and I can't wait to play it. So I'm really glad they are making it.

Chris Where will I find these updates?? Where will I find these updates?? I've only had the game for a few days thanks to Amazon prime

Tell me this - are there some difficulty/depth levels in this game?
Last FM I tried was over 20 years ago.
I have been looking at them for a while now but I don't want to micromanage every single little thing.
Is it pain in the bollox to run a team if you are not too OCD?
I'm all for immersion, but if I need to make sure every single thing is looked after then... you know... fuck that.

For people who absolutely do not want the "let me set the individual contract clauses and training regimes for each of the under-19 players" / "I have to give up all my free time just to complete half a season" experience...

They have added a "Staff Responsibilities" section, where you can delegate every single thing to your backroom staff, if you so wish (there are people out there who play FM as if they're the chairman, watching the assistant manager pick the team / training, the director of football buying / selling players etc.)...

Staff-Responsibilities.jpg

I never used to hire a director of football, because I like buying / selling players - but I tried one for the first time at Swansea University (the only team who would hire me in my super-realistic save, starting with zero experience)... and it really helps having someone initiate signings (and you can simply confirm them, or reject them, at the end of the process).

And that's just one example - I like to do the tactics and training, and then there's a weekly meeting for all the staff to give their thoughts on everything else. Potential new signings or changes to training, for example.

I am playing my FM 22 save from time to time and it seems exactly same to me. Even he looks of the game is exactly same :-D Is there anything different?

The looks are the same, but there are lots of new features that (for me) are truly big. For example, players not massively overreacting any more and having more emotional nuance... Plus the positional play as part of the match engine, which is a big deal to me (matches seem to play out in a far, far more realistic fashion).

Plus the set piece refresh, which is far more realistic (and more intuitive).

For me the big difference between 22 and 23 is the massive improvements in the match engine.
The improvements are huge, it looks and feels more like football during the highlights and players make real errors and goals are random.

The actual game itself is pretty much the same.

If you have not purchased 23 already then I wouldn't bother 24 is out in a month, so just purchase that once it is released.

One thing I hope they address are press conferences. My God, it's such a boring task answering the set of questions over and over again. I either send my assistant out there or blindly choose positive responses.

With all the crap we've seen lately, I am hoping FM 24 comes and saves us all. I know FM 23 wasn't perfect, things like player relationship was basic and binary, but despite it's flaws, it's the most engaging football game I've played since PES 21. And shout-out to the FM modding community. They are doing the Lord's work.

I am excited but also worried about FM 25 because the last time a series we loved and enjoyed went through massive changes, it was PES, and we all saw what happened there.

2D match would most propably be same so why bother, right? :D

There are mass changes in FM 25.
If SI stick to how they normally do stuff like this, it will contain bugs and things won't be properly implemented - These will be patched to start with but not massively improved.

FM 26 will fix everything and most likely be an absolute masterpiece.

If the new positional play options are a prelude to bringing back the on the ball/off the ball grids, or some other way of deciding exactly where your players are according to the position of the ball, then this is something like a revolution to me!

FM does so many things right, but is some distance away from matching the complexities of modern positional play. Its fantastic that they are actually addressing that, and bodes well for fm 25 and beyond. It does not, however, bode well for all other aspects of my future life!

The deciding where players are on and off the ball were removed from FM after the famous WIB-WOB exploits.
It would be good if these are re-added, however I believe this will once again bring cheat formations into the game.

Our continued drive to mirror developments in the real footballing world make Football Manager 2024 the most complete edition in the series yet.

Two areas where we’ve worked extensively that powerfully reflect this are recruitment and finance.

On the recruitment front, we’ve significantly improved the decision-making and team selection capabilities of AI managers. You’ll also see that your game world better reflects the current trends of the real-life transfer market.

It’s not just recruitment that’s been made smarter, though. We’ve also put vast work into upgrading the in-game Finance system to ensure that there’s greater dynamism and volatility in every career.

Whether you’re signing world-class Wonderkids, looking to offload players that no longer make the grade or anything in between, squad building is integral to every Football Manager career.

We’ve heard your feedback in recent years that selling players can prove a frustrating experience – as it often is for many clubs and players during every transfer window. With that in mind, our team considered what extra tools could we have in FM24 for players and AI managers to help with this aspect of the game.

As with so many areas of Football Manager, we leaned on our industry access to better understand how clubs look to solve the problem of offloading players in the professional game and then applied that insight to our game world.

Among all new features I really like that on personal level there will not be that annoying unreal moans from players why they are not playing. I like the depth and realism but I think that was too much and I am glad they work on this issue for fm24
