I hope they will finally fix AI Squad Management. It breaks my immersion seeing every team playing 30 years old players because they don't grow the young players. They should also fix how mental attributes and technical attributes not having enough influence for matches making tactics like gegenpressing overpowered.
I am one of those people that never saw the big fascination in Football Manager because of things exactly like this. I like the idea of the game but the game is much more shallow than people make out and the issues have been gradually getting worse with each iteration.
You essentially play as a leader of a 14 year old girl clique managing the emotions of the other teenage girls whilst on day 1 selecting the "meta tactic that works with any player". You can also cheat or be cheated by the AWFUL mechanic of selecting "Former Pro Player" when you start the game. If you pick anything other than "Former Pro Player", you are in for a very tough time.
So the game comes down to:
- Select Former Pro Player
- Select a team with high pace
- Select gegenpress with 4-3-3
- Win every game whilst constantly chatting to players to make them happy
- Get bored
What is very funny is my family and friends adore this game and I don't lol . I have really tried over the years but I dont see the entertainment in it when its glaring flaws are so obvious to see. My dad, whos almost 70 has played many long saves over various versions and loves it but he hasnt ruined himself by learning the idea of "meta tactics" and the knowledge that "high pace always works".
I am hoping that this new iteration that will likely be rewritten for C# Unity will have a lot of these things revisited and fixed.
On to the new graphics. They are a good step up and I am looking forward to see it for myself.
For those asking for moddability. Unity is known for being very highly moddable. The only way it wouldnt be is if the developer really tries hard to not make it moddable, its always online or it has some serious anti tampering or anti cheat.
/thanks for coming to my TED talk
