Football Manager 2009

You can't be serious....they have the long awaited 3d match engine and you say something like that...

A riny litle bit of objectivity is not wrong you know Rob...

From what they said, 3d match engine has been worked out for the past years..so that's the real improvment they made in years...I don't think it's acceptable to release a game with all those problems when all they add different was the 3d match engine in the past 5 years or something like that.
And not to mention the fact that they only tried to improve the game this year because they knew they would be the only one without 3d.

I stil think people are way too compreensive with these guys..I mean, they barely improved the game in the past years...it just looks the same, and they're living under the reputation for a long time.. Even what is considered their best 'feature', the database which should take some time, is mostly done by volunteers.. so the question is..where have been them spending their time?
I mean...I don't know if any of you ever played Pro Cycling Manager. It's a 10 years series (or something like that)...and every year they used to release the game with bugs..you would have to wait 3 months to have all the patches to enjoy it completely...but I can more easily understand that, because every year they tried to improve it, with new features...so you could see that they spend the year working on something, trying to make it better. FM, for the lack of improvments that we have seen for the past years, couldn't have those bugs.. (and even if it hadn't, I would still not buy it simply because I don't think they deserve..they have been selling the same game updated every year)

But if they're over worked in training they'll be more susceptible to injuries during matches? That's just a guess...

What's the reworked transfer system like? What's actually changed?

Nothing on the front-end. To me, it looks EXACTLY the same. SI have just said the AI deals with transfers more realistically.

I've set my team to use a playmaker ... except when I try to drag a player onto the playmaker list, it doesn't work :CURSE:

At half-time, clicking on Opposition Instructions takes you to your player tactics, another bug.

Really, how SI get away with releasing buggy shit like this every year is beyond me.

Whats a good alternative training method to use ?

Only thing i notice different about transfers is transfer rumours section now. Also your scouts instead of doing nothing until they are told go out and find new talent and present you with findings.

Buggy piece of shit is doing my head in now. Just keep finding bugs all over the place, I really should've learnt by now that buying FM before two patches are out is pointless.

My goalie just conceded two goals in the cup. His average rating now? 3.50. Apparantly he got a 0.10 in that game.

Fucking game is unplayable in this state.

In its current state? 4/10

Too many bugs and flaws. At least one serious injury every game, coupled my two/three minor injuries. Bugs like I posted above. It's just pointless trying to play when the game is giving your players a 0.10 rating for conceding two goals, as well as not even being able to adjust your tactics in a game because of the buggy shite.

I've learnt my lesson now. No more buying FM and lining their pockets until they can put out a game that would pass any other companies quality control first-time. I'm sick of having to wait two months for them to patch it to a reasonable state and until they learn, they've lost sales from me now.

Edit: Just looked at the rest of my team, they all got 0.10 for that game!! What a joke! :CURSE:

Runs better than XP on this laptop. And both run better than this bag of shite FM09 too.

I'm really pissed off with this game right now. I just don't see the point in carrying on the game if my players are going to marked as 0.10 rating because SI are a bunch of amateurs. Completely ruined my enthusiasm for the game.

Not tried CM09, might go back to FM08 though.

Apparantly a virus can rule a player out for a month .... must be one strong bout of flu

That "bug" where all my players got 0.10 has ruined my saved game now. The board are saying all my players are underperforming (they've got decent 7 ratings apart from that game) and the players morale is shot to pieces. No point carrying on with this game now :((

I've bought that game from the first up until this year's one...i've sworn never to buy it again...this game is easily 1000 times worse than Football Manager.
I've bought the two latest editions and they are literally unplayable. I bought the 2007 edition two times. I downloaded the first version but after a couple of days i couldn't play it anymore. So i was so stupid to buy the retail version: same result. The 2008 edition (with the indoor races as big innovation): same result. Played it for a week, then it became unplayable. Once the cyclists passed the sign of the last final km, the game crashes. On both occasions i've been doing maybe 100 mails to Cyanide's (the company who makes the game) helpdesk but they never found a solution and this for a game that has much less customers than FM...

I will buy FM09 for Christmas, by then it will be hugely enjoyable...

PS: and sorry to be off-topic, about Pro Cycling Manager.

My mate started as unemployed, had down to League 2 in England, and Third Division in Scotland, and still didn't get a job by 2012.

Can some one help me please.
Im Stuck on selecting 4 players trained by Liverpool (my team) and 8 players trained in england for champions league.

Ive tried selecting my reserves...still cant continue.
The Auto Selection doesnt help...and i cannot continue the game without selecting them.

You could try going on holiday for 1 day.

Someone at the SI foruns posted this

I know a lot of people have had a serious dislike for the 3D kits showing on the team info screen. Well there is an easy way to fix that (that doesn't involve deleting them or anything like that). It'll also display 2D kits for teams with a license within the game.

1. Find your user data folder. By default this is in the following place:

Win Vista: C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\
Win 2000/XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\
Win 98/ME: C:\My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\
Mac OS X: /Users/<username>/Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2009/
2. Create a folder called 'panels' in your user data folder.

3. Download this:http://www.sendspace.com/file/ryz6t2

4. Place 'kit panel.xml' in the 'panels' folder. Launch Football Manager 2009. When loaded go straight into game preferences from the intro screen. Click on 'Display and Sound' on the tree menu. Make sure that you tick the check box on the page called 'Always Reload Skin on Confirm' and un-tick then box saying 'Use Skin Cache'. Now press confirm on the tree menu. There should be a box that pops up saying 'loading image data for the new skin'. Once this is done 3D kits should be banished from the team info screen. You may want to quit the game and reload it - just to be sure. You can change the ticked and un-ticked boxes back to what they were before.

Well it only solves the problems on the info screen not the match screen but it's better than nothing.
