FIFA World Youth Championship

Well this is pretty much what I saw, especially this part:

The Germans are big. Really big. They didn't have a player smaller than 1.80 meter (about 5-foot-11). Many of the U.S. players, like Freddy Adu and his substitute Lee Nguyen, had absolutely no chance to win a challenge against them. And like a boxer who works the body, the size of the German side took a toll in the end - in the last 20 minutes, the United States had nothing left in the tank.

German star Michael Delura (Schalke 04) ran through, around, and through the vast majority of the United States team in the latter stages of the second half.

Argentina won 2-0 against Egypt. Remember this name: Fernando Gago.

He's a defensive midfielder, but has a terrible vision and accuracy for passes. He's a leader. The only problem is that the argentinian coach uses two DMF, and Gago is somehow left appart.
If you put Gago in a team, you HAVE to give him the ball and make the whole team play for him (this is unusual for a DMF, but that's just how good he is). Gago is no good as a complementary player, he has to be in charge of the attacks all by himself, escorted by his mates, he's so damn good. Too bad our coach doesn't know how to use Gago.


To make things worst, Tocalli (Argentina's manager) didn't bring any forward at all to the world cup!. Only Messi (omf, and possibly a wing or 2nd top), Oberman (a wing), Vitti (omf, but tocalli uses him as a striker), and Aguero (2nd top). So we are having trouble to score, and the system Tocalli uses is too defensive for a team like ours, talking about a 4-4-1-1. That said, I don't think Argentina will win the world cup. Except, of course, if Tocalli gives Gago his natural position, and if Messi does what he knows best: win matches by himself.

GK Ustari could be good, I haven't seen him enough. The rest are normal players.

Can't believe Nigeria lost this game in the last few minutes.....we have to win out next game and also hoping that Brazil beat Korea Republic, if we want to qualify to the latter stages.
 
Stringer, i hope they do it, dude. Nigeria is a team i always root for. i saw the African Cup in my '88 Okocha jersey at a bar in Chicago and the nigerians picked me up and danced with me when they beat Cameroon. lol. Good times, man.

i think the US looks as good as any team out there. Not sure about that Ochoa kid, and Gaven looks rusty for some reason, but if they get firing on all cylinders, it'll get interesting.

Messi is my fave player of the tournament so far and Quicny makes me shit my pants. Dude is unreal. Adu has played well IMO. Could be better in some instances, but his deadball play has been solid and his vision, too. And. . he's only 16. He's only a lad! :mrgreen:

Quincy has impressed but I'd like to see him in that second striker role, because that's where his future lies with us. His defensive game is not good enough to occupy the Arsenal-style left-midfield role. If anyone wants to see more of those outrageous runs, try getting a clip of him against Sheffield United last season. Electric.

As I foresaw at the start, Messi has been sensational. Been impressed by Obi Wan at Nigeria too. None of Chelsea's aleination seems to have affected him. Shame Nigeria are stuck at the bottom of the group.

Does anyone else feel pity for Honduras? Morroco's fifth goal against them was superb. The technique of some of these kids is astonishing.

Italy will take on the United States on tuesday. The Italians have been rearanging there tatics the whole tourney. It looks like they have found one against canada.

Usa will have there hands full as italy got in as 3rd place qualifier.
The Italians will show everything they have and will definitly pour their hearts out into the match for being allowed in this match. I'm not going to predict victory, yet Italy has transformed from finishing 3rd to now being a quality football team.

We will have to see come tuesday morning as these teams will play to have an easy road to the finals.
 
The italian coach was an idiot. He had many more players to choose from but he chose many players from Serie B/C, and only 2 from the serie A. Nicola Pozzi, Cerci, Simonetta, Abate etc.

He also didnt pick Lupoli or Rossi from Arsenal or Man U.

hmm the US has beaten argentina twice in two months, and havent allowed a goal yet in the competetion, what makes you think they will have there hands full?
 
Well, Cssaunders, usa hasn't won anything yet. Winning previous games, including friendlies, is definitely not the same as playing the final matches. So now we'll see what is this very good USA team made of.

They're made of Sugar and Spice and veins full of ice, baby. :mrgreen:

they beat Argentina in a Korean tournament, and have kept 3 clean sheets in this tournament's group of death which they topped. I think they have as good a shot of winning this whole thing as any team.

I think the Italians are gaining momentum, so this should be a good game.
 
Nice to Nigeria are throug....i new they can do it.

We got Ukraine in the next round...hopefuly we can beat them.

A final with Brazil or Holland would be nice.
 
3-1 for Italy right now. Adu has been disappointing all game imo. So has the US defence. Italy has strangely been very solid throughout, and deserves their lead.

Looks like the 'stacked' US of A is out.;)

USA started better, and imo undeservedly got a re-take for their PK which was originally saved. Italy then took the game in hand and played very solid, where as the US was abit shaky in defence, and their attack wasnt creating dangerous chances. Adu imo was disappointing again, and needed a chagne earlier. All he really did was get the PK, get it saved, and luckily allowed a retake (which was taken by someone else).
 
Italy got worked the first 15 minutes, after that the italians went into cruise control. There was no way USA could have overpowered. The PK was a truely apenalty, yet letting the americans retaking it was a joke.

AZZURRI v.s. Morrocco Friday!
