FIFA World Cup Brasil 2014

A seventh or an eight goal wouldn't have made any difference...if Silva scores that second, that changes the match.

All i want to say is that people read too much in this result. I saw two teams who have very clear weak points.

This happens all the time in football, i will give you another example. In the qualifications Belgiun won 0-3 in Serbia. After 10 minutes, Serbia could have been 3-0 up. Their foirst 20minutes were very impressive. Now this victory is seen as the best match of our natiuonal team (and yes they played superb in the second half).

All credit must go to Holland, but one can't conclude much on that single match...it might even be that the team that is most damaged by that result wasn't even on the pitch...Chile.

I know what you mean, Gerd. Sure it could have been different if Spain went 2-1 up, but I still think it's unlikely given the way the Dutch played.

They showed incredible hunger in that performance even after scoring 5-1.

I don't think they would have let their heads down at 1-2 for Spain.

It's still early days, so let's see how Holland performs in the next matches. But beating the champions like that, was a big statement!

Buffon out of the England match, some people even saying he could miss the entire World Cup.

What's better than watching Ivory Coast vs. Japan at 3 o'clock (Germany time) in the night, nothing :P looking forward to that.

Well, same for me here. Usually I manage to stay awake when there is F1 practice in early morning (if I would go to sleep I would never manage to wake up at that hour) so I might be able to stay awake for this match. And I am actually interested to see Japan, they looked good in friendly highlights.

Also planned to do this sooo much, but have a match tomorrow morning at 9:00 am, no chance for me to watch CIV - JPN then. :(

Newest trend: Continue singing the anthem when the music has stopped. Like that very much, will be interesting to see what happens, when our anthem is played as Germans (and especially our current players) tend to be not too motivated to sing at all.

They only stop the anthem at half for the South American teams because they sing it emotional. German anthem will be played as always to the end.

Welsh anthem v England in last game of 6 Nations 2 years ago was sung with no band. Absolutely amazing. I can't stand anthems when they bring in an opera singer to do them. Sounds awful IMO. Let the fans get on with it. Much more passion.

Where did I say that it erases all prior experience? He may have been a CB at some point in his lifetime. He wasn't CB at Sevilla who we bought him from though so I'm not basing anything on 1 season at all.
Headline stated we bought a midfielder (and IMO he clearly is).
Suppose Steven Gerrard is a right back as when he first played he had some games there? Gareth Bale is a Left Back? They can play there of course but I wouldn't call them fullbacks as they've moved on from that.

What has Cardiff's form or whatever have to do with anything anyway? Shit ALL season? Cheers for taking the time to watch every minute of all of our games.

Well done on the googling. I applaud you. What does that prove? He plays midfield and defence. No shit! His best position is DM. I wouldn't call him a CB... even though he does play there for his country.

Come on, don't say you didn't spot me taking a piss there?
My point was that you said he wasn't a defender when he clearly is. He may be better elsewhere but he's no stranger to the role all the same.

USA has a passionate Anthem song about the flag during a battle over the waters.... I doubt any of the USA squad knows it. A country full of foreigners lol all united!

I know you were on the wind up but you aren't allowed to say anything about my club! ;)
I thought I said he wasn't a CB? I know what you are saying fella and he had Rooney in his pocket last year but I think he'd struggle against a top forward who is on his game so don't see him as a proper CB at all. He does a decent job and agreed, he's no stranger to the role. It doesn't say much about Chile's natural CB's though does it? Saying that, he probably would have kept his shape more than what Caulker did for us last year! That guy was constantly out of position. Massively overrated in my opinion. He's good but not as good as a lot of people make out.

Fifa says it cuts the anthems that exceed a certain amount of time. It wasn´t like this until 2002, Brasil anthem used to be complete. This bullshit of butchering anthems started in 2006.
The only exception they opened was with South Africa at WC2010, since the anthems is sung in five different languages and many people protested the first time FIFA cropped it.
Brasil complete anthem in 2002:

Well it's not exactly complete. You know the Brazilian anthem is huge, so everybody just got used to sing only the first 2 verses. But if they played the full version, they would take some 6 minutes of everybody's precious time :P

Wow, Costa Rica, maybe the biggest underdog of the tournament (together with the Aussies), bring Uruguay to the border of a loss.

You still mad about the EL final?

That was a clear penalty, btw.

Mad? Not anymore. Just found it funny that he can spot a penalty on dead ball situation, with tones of player grab each other, but misses two clear ones on a one-on-one situation.

Urugauy felt a sleep. Nice fighiting spirit by the Ticos. Never giving up. Clearly are deserving of beinging up front.

Joel Campbell has been a beast. Good goal. Could've two more (from 30 yards or so). Hope Wenger will give him a shot.
