FIFA World Cup 2026 - Discussion Thread

Belgium, England, Turkey and Germany... those were the 4 UEFA nations Brazil eliminated to reach the Cup in 2002.

Since then, in 5 Cups they were eliminated by UEFA nations (France, Holland, Germany, Belgium and Croatia).

If Norway plays the same way as Japan (respecting Brazil too much), they can lose. If they play "normally", they win.

Reminder: Norway is the ONLY nation that Brazil has NEVER beaten. Ever (not even in friendly matches).
I know, they haven't played much against each other though.
Fingers crossed Brazil gives them tickets back home

I watched Diomandé v Germany and Norway.
His current level at summer 2026, doesn't allow him to be a starter for PSG or Liverpool.
Who knows maybe in December 2026 he will be on another level

He's purely there for "vibes", right? He's there as some sort of Tuchel spy, a pseudo-captain. I don't know why Tuchel feels like he has to be in the playing squad to get that benefit (as opposed to, I don't know, non-playing staff)... but I think that's his idea. Not that I agree with it - let Kane do the captaining.

But I also don't agree with not taking Trent Alexander-Arnold. I get it from the fact that we're so shocking defensively that, if we have a player who disappears from the backline too often, we'll struggle to deal with the hole he leaves - but... I think it's bordering on criminally insane to take Djed Spence over him.
Henderson has been stealing caps most of his career but especially for the last couple of years. Even Southgate eventually left him out. Like you said, take him as non playing staff. Wharton, Garner and Scott must wonder what they have to do to get selected ahead of him.
It's ridiculous in a 26 man squad that there was no room for one of the 'flair' players. Personally I'd have taken Gibbs-White, he had a brilliant season.

There must be something personal between Tuchel and Alexander-Arnold. I mean he went out of his way to call up a centre back instead of a right back when Livremento went home injured.

I had a feeling Morocco would be a tough opponent for Netherlands, plus i think they played quite defensively (Netherlands).
Morocco can go far.

France Sweden and I predict my Sweden will lose 4-0
Our neighbours Norway Vs Cote Ivory, can be a real tough game, obviously hoping Norway gets knocked out

Mexico Ecuador is wide open, but I think Mexico playing at home will be the decider

Hoping your Sweden will pull a miracle out of the bag tonight but I can't see it. If not, then France v Morocco is set to be some game - getting ahead of myself but I can't see Canada or Paraguay causing upsets in the round of 16.

Would you start with Gyokeres and Isak or just play one of them?

We're proper fucked already, we had no business being here after our shitty WC qualifiers
I'd start Isak for sure, a way better player man to man.
France vs Morocco will be a killer game
Morocco is one of the team that has impressed me the most so far

No directed at me but I'd go 442 and play them both. France won't be expecting it and could catch them off guard. Not to mention Sweden would have two world class strikers on the pitch.
They've got to go for it, France are likely going to score no matter what so they need to try and outscore them.
