FiFA [2006-2011] Next gen ports via RPCS3 and Xenia

Finally played the proper FIFA 09 on PC... First match, and this happens:

I had completely forgotten how poor keepers were on those looping shots/headers back in the day.
(to be fair Abbiati also performed a couple of great saves, though).

Uncheck the "disable SPU loop detection" to see if the audio crackling goes away.

That's what caused the audio crackling back when I played fifa games on rpcs3. However, disabling that also comes with performance penalty and depending on your cpu, you might face slowdowns.

Yes you can play without any problems. I haven't tried recently but i think you can still play.. I used reshade for colors and some graphic attribitues while I was playing FIFA 08-09 on RPSC3.

You can download Reshade from here: https://reshade.me/ . It has different shaders so you have to select them while installing. I forgot exact names of the shaders but they are related with colors. I changed the green colors only so the pitch had more greenish. I also did some brightness contrast settings to balance the lighthing. I read some solutions to slow the game down but I couldn't find proper app to adjust. It would be great if the game a bit slow down especially in FIFA 08-09.. :)
 
Has anyone tried ShadPS4 to see if it can boot FIFA 14, PES 15-17?

Edit: XWine1 is being developed for xbox one as well, hopefully one of those will be able to play these games.

Some progress with FIFA 06 Road To World Cup.

Previously it used to crash right after EA logo. But now it goes to menus and can start a match. Unfortunately, just like World Cup 2006, the audio gets muted few seconds after kick off followed by crash.

So it's not playable, but for the first time in last 4 years, there has been some progress in this game on xenia.

Nice, we're slowly getting there with preserving this very exclusive game. What build of Xenia are you using, is this Canary?

Most likely canary, someone else tested it. I can't test xenia anymore since my GPU died.

Would be nice if this becomes playable. If we can mod this game to put more national teams, clubs and stadiums, it will be a very decent game.

Edit: The build version and date is mentioned on the title bar of the emulator on the screenshot.

Thanks, Yeah just tested in latest Canary, same thing, crashes on kickoff.

Still, very exciting to get past the EA screen and into the menu. Just too bad it's still not quite there.

Crashing is the only problem now. The performance is actually better than actual hardware. If the crashing issue is solved, then both WC 2006 and RTWC 2006 will be fully playable.

Game can't be considered "playable" yet since to prevent crashing, you have to disable all the audios from the game files. You can read the video description to see how to extract and disable the audio files.


Still, to see this game running on pc and being able to finish a match after all these years is a huge milestone. Also the game runs way smoother than it was possible on xbox360. The abysmal fps drops aren't there. We could have had this experience if EA just ported these on PC.

credit goes to the user (Sowa) I've mentioned before for testing this. I can't test this emulator anymore since my graphics card died few months ago.

As for WC 2006, the crash in the game seems to occur for a similar reason. It might prevent the crash in that game too. File structures are similar in these games, so you should be able to extract the files and do the same thing on that game to disable the audio and see if it prevents the emulator from crashing.

Thanks for testing. Hopefully they will find a fix for the audio crash. Once that's fixed, WC 06 and RTWC 06 will become fully playable.

FIFA 09 onwards also became playable on Xenia [except for FIFA 10]. Previously there was a game physics and animation breaking bug which would make these games unplayable. But now they run mostly fine.

FIFA 08 and Euro 08 has been playable already, however there might be random crashes. FIFA 07 is still hit or miss, most builds of xenia can't run the game at all.

As for FIFA 10, seems like the same bug from rpcs3 is present on xenia too. The goalkeepers get folded while playing the game 💀

Hard to say. The audio functionality causes problem for this particular engine. So in a way it's engine problem, but at all problems exists because the emulation is not accurate. So as each function of the console slowly gets accurate emulation, more and more games will start to be playable.

Audio on xenia had issues on many games too. Some games had delayed audio, others like fifa 08 would glitch out audio. So yeah, here's hoping that someone picks up on it and can manage to get it working accurately to avoid crashes.




I hope, this brings interest in modding community for wc 06 and rtwc 06. I don't think it will be that hard to mod this games since it's already possible to extract the files and a lot of the files are very similar to their old gen counterparts.

One thing I'd like to see for RTWC 06 is some gameplay mod. RTWC 06 has a very shitty user GK AI. opponent AI can score goals that are easily saveable by the GKs. Another problem with the user AI is that when you push to opponents goal post, your AI teammates do not come near d-box and you have no one to pass the ball to.

Could you link the github page for this build. By the way, can you check if the game crashes if you set match time to night/ dusk?

Last time I tested, on builds that the game did not crash, it was only playable on Day time on one single stadium [I think it was emirates stadium] anything else would trigger a crash.
 
If you disable/delete all audio files/settings for WC06 and RTWC06 on Xenia, does the game not crash?

not my footage. My GPU is dead and I didn't bother buying a new graphics card and can't run xenia anymore. This was recorded by another user.

The fix to lighting is written in his video description. Check it out.
