Namco announced yesterday that Hot Shots Golf is releasing this year on PS5 and Switch:

The best portable golf game bar none. I haven't used the Switch since Covid and Animal Crossing, but it'll be coming back out for this.

Oooh loved Everybody's Golf! Shame I can't see myself getting a PS5 so I won't be playing this one.

Awesome. Best golf series of all time. I can play Everybody's golf for hours and I don't even like golf!

I thought it was Japan Studio that developed the series and Clap Hanz was the publisher?
Either way if it's not developed by the original developers then yeah that's worrying.

Hmmm well I can deal with Bandai Namco of course but I've not heard of this other other company. I rarely get excited about new games and pretty much don't play them at all but now I'm less than excited. Who knows, maybe it will turn out great but I'll definitely be waiting until I've seen some independent reviews.

I've already bought it. I've played every game in the series. Golf is relaxing to play unless you're impatient, in which case it's better to stop right away, haha.
likely a pre-order for me, won't really have time to play until mid next week but it will be really nice to have it ready when I get the break. Need to see it on my TV but from that Kinda Funny vid it honestly looks like a downgrade graphically. Not sure why it's not listed on PS4 as the Switch version listed is actually the original Switch and not Switch 2! Would have been nice to play this with my brother online but he hasn't upgraded his console yet.
I could have done without the whole setting up the tee business, I think that was a fairly pointless addition to the series. But at least they are adding the different shot options from before the last game, the advanced shot (circle on ball) was my go to.

I'm enjoying the game and already have 5.5 hours on my Steam clock. I also had all the games in the series, even though I'm no pro

Gave this a go tonight for the first time and quite enjoyed it. I stuck with the default controls but otherwise changed the settings like in the video above - there is definitely some difference on the green, I can't seem to zoom into it like before.
But so far, no bugs and pretty fun.

But by chance I saw a video on reddit of someone doing a hole-in-one on the 2017 game and the downgrade in graphics is INSANE. The new game looks like a original Hot shots remaster in comparison.
Now I kind of want to ditch this, go back to the 2017 game and just purchase the extra courses I never got before. But I will stick with this for now.

I was tempted to pick this up on Switch (used to love it on the PSP)...
...then found out that the original series developers, Clap Hanz, launched a game on Switch a while back called "Easy Come Easy Golf" - and it looks a lot better.
They also chose the release date of this "Everybody's Golf" to launch a 60fps patch for the Switch 2 version.

yeah it's safe to at least wait for a sale on the new one. I noticed one thing, there is ambient wind on some of the courses, if you turn off all other audio you can tell that the audio loop for it is about 2 seconds. This is some serious lack of ambition from the audio team. It is nice to be able to turn down both player and caddy audio seperately, the chatter does become almost unbearable.
