Europa League 2012/13

Half Europe is too much, but there are to many teams like Anzhi, Chelsea and so on....
Football today becomes a one man show. If you have enough money, why ever, you can buy,buy,buy...
Fuck off all this products....

An what do you think about Barcelona, Real Madrid, Man Utd, Milan, Inter, Bayern ? They have no money ?

Exactly. Seems there is a lot of envy arround those new rich clubs. Funny, the monopoly of those teams above was less questioned years ago like it is today for these new t€ams. I guess, they are just fighting fire with fire. I mean i hate it, my club struggles to keep competitive, there should be limits, but it is ironic to see the classic top clubs moaning about it.

I think the problem is that people don't like seeing these teams being at the top when they were midtable not too long ago. The teams you listed gerd all have a lot of money, but these clubs were built up over the course of several decades, whereas clubs like Manchester City and Anzhi were built up in a few years.

Not saying I agree with it, but it kills clubs who want to build the club up with having having good financials and bring up their own players from their academies.

For example, in the Dutch league, the financial regulations are very strict. Over the last few years, three clubs have lost their professional license. These clubs had 300 or 400 thousand euros in debt. In Spain, that's laughable. Clubs in Spain have millions of euro's in debt, and also there are teams who can't even pay salaries or pay parts of the transfer money.

Example: PSV sold Robert to Real Betis in the summer of 2006, and Betis still have not paid the entire sum of money. In those seven years, Robert already has had 10 different clubs.

so simply jealousy

for example Man United ...the club attracts bigger players because of its past and its earlier achievements and sport tvs very likely to show the teams matches on screen because good game attracts audience so they can make nasty advertisment deals and SO THE TEAM ATTRACTS SPONSORS AND INVESTORS AND STAKEHOLDERS ...so it becomes an even richer club and it can pay a small amount of money for players like RVP...and on the opposite side teams like Anzhi skip the underlined part and use money instead to attract players...is that simple and someone who think its not fair is simply jealous

Newcastle appears to be going for Utd like ways of winning games. Glad they won. Wonder if Hiddink had a little visit to Stamford Bridge on the way back to Russia? :PIRATE:

Because of what one fan says it makes you decide who to support?

Anyway, if our coach decides that Europa League matters we have a good chance. But its likely that he will put all his eggs on the national title egg, and rotate players against Newcastle, like he's been doing recently.

Good to see Anzhi's and Zenit's transfer-strategy with millions of money isn't working out.

And it's good to see that that kind of transfer strategy is working for the majority of remaining clubs involved in European competitions?! Their success is mainly down to one thing: privilege. If the individuals or groups who initially started these clubs did not have the financial means necessary to spend on such a venture, the Barcelonas and Real Madrids of the world would not be as successful as they are today. You may not like Anzhi or Zenit because of their prowess in the transfer market nowadays, remember that at some point in the past, someone or some people with money gained control of the world's current leading clubs and built them into the empires they are today...so while they might have an excellent footballing history (and I take nothing away from them for having that), it has been assisted in large part due to the significant financial contributions of privileged individuals much like the Abramoviches and Sheikh Mansours of today.

If you want fairness in world soccer, introduce a salary cap. One of the Europe's greatest social inventions is socialism, so I cannot understand why they insist on maintaining a free capitalist market while the United States does the exact opposite?! The result here, I think, is better competition because any team has the potential to get better during the off-season and compete for a championship the following year. Thank goodness Europe has leagues like the Bundesliga that operate with some kind of financial restraint. I hope other countries begin to adopt their 50-percent-plus-one ownership model because it both stabilizes the league from a financial perspective and ensures that less financially privileged teams like an Eintracht Frankfurt can compete for a European place only a year after playing in the 2.Bundesliga.

Airjorca, i was merely making a statement, but i can see your point...

About Anzhi and Zenith. It's only a matter of time before they will win silverware. And what would be wrong about that.
I prefer clubs who do it another way, but i don't see what is more wrong with Anzhi and Zenith than with City, Chelsea, PSG, Malaga but also with other big clubs who can dominate because of television money.

Rubin's has though - they've demolished the middle order in Spain. Anzhi have beaten Vitesse and AZ in the preliminaries. They got out of a tough group probably the hardest in the EL and harder than some CL groups by beating Udinese, Liverpool. And then in the knockouts they beat Hanover All of these are all reasonable teams or at least come from fairly strong leagues (leagues that are ranked either above or level with Russia by UEFA). Yes they went down to 10 men last night and lost to Newcastle (again a fairly good team) with the last kick of the game but overall its not bad for a team that had only played a single match in Europe before this season. There arent that many other teams who have recently done as well in their debut season (I can only really think of Fulham).

Zenit have been disasterous though, there is simply no other word for it. Like Bayern they got totally burnt in signing players for way over their value. Zenit spent an almost identical amount on Witsel as Bayern did on Martinez. Now I think Witsel is a bit younger and a bit better than Martinez, and you could probably say he's a bit more proven since he'd done well at two clubs and played well in the CL last season, whereas Martinez had only done well at one club and had not played CL football. Someone will probably trot out now how Martinez has "won" the World Cup and Euros, but he's only played 20 mins at the WC against Chile and 45 mins at the Euros against Ireland, he's actually only played 9 matches for Spain most of them friendlies, whereas Witsel already has nearly 40 matches for Belgians. Anyway with the €40m for Witsel and around €60m for Hulk Zenit seemed pay well over the odds. Also they didn't strengthen in key areas where they have weaknesses. Malafeev has been a great servant but he's getting too old and a bit too error prone, wouldnt they have been better singing a slightly cheaper striker (say Lewandowski or even Llorente) and put the saved money towards Lloris, Ter-Stegen / Adler? To be honest there seems to be lot of politics at the club the board of directors, manager and senior players are all trying to pull the club in different directions and this season has exploded into disaster with Zenit probably now not even able to make the CL places for next year.

But in the long run you should expect Russian clubs to start doing better and better. Football has always been a massive sport there, and by population it's the biggest country in Europe, almost double that of the next biggest country and it has two of the largest cities in Europe. It's economy is starting to do better especially since it's not wrapped up in Euro mess, and unlike the UK it doesnt have huge consumer debts.

i hope newcastle go all the way to the final but benfica will be hard, maybe they have a chance if benfica rest players, do you think hiddink would go back to chelsea though? i think he is settled with anzhi.

looking at all the games spurs should advance, lazio - fener will be tight and chelsea will struggle vs rubin.

edit: also i agree with everything edmundo says

I don't know if there's any Bordeaux supporter here, but I would like to thank for your fair play on last tie and I think only a great club could leave this message on their official twitter after being knocked out:

There is nothing more wrong with Anzhi and Zenit than with City, Chlesea, PSG, Malaga. But there is a huge difference to the other dominant club with television money: The way the money went before reaching the clubs. Television money is money created by the sport itself, so it is from "inside the system". All the clubs mentioned above got and get their money in large parts from "outside the system", mainly from the oil industry and sheiks. And this is something I don't like. I accept it, if there is a rich person like Abramowitsch, who is willing to spent his private money in a football club as he can spent it where he wants to, but it still isn't a good thing in my opinion.

Frank Lampard: "The only worried about team Fenerbahce. Supporters integrated team."
This man %100 right. I wish we match the semifinal with Chelsea. We want taking vengeance 2008

Rubin - Chelsea 3:2

Fantastic game! What a "glow", what struggle, today I really watched european football. Rubin was very good, maybe it was his best game. Thank you guys for this show, you will leave this tournament with her head held high, because in his last match you do beat not someone, but Chelsea (although not the main team), Bravo and thanks you guys! :WORSHIP::WORSHIP::WORSHIP:

Good luck Chelsea in the next round. :P

Fenerbahçe is in the semi final first time to history. They have no power offansive playing, they want to more defence every game but this match very bad in 90 minute but first game 2-0 great result for semi final.
