You really think so? I just see the AI bypassing the midfield over and over again!

The human player is working hard to create chances (because they're on manual) and then the AI gets possession back, gets it to a defender with a clear path to a striker, and then just pumps it forward ASAP with no need to try any build-up play. Like this after the 3-minute mark:

There's even a damn backheel at the end of that sequence. The AI looks identical to me so far.
This video is on regular difficulty btw..wasn't full focused watching eat earlier on, but ofc it's not perfect, still seems better than pes 19 when it comes to the attack pattern..AI dribbling, doing skills from time to time, not so much first touch passing as before..there are more videos out now, will check them out ,but there are positive things, here everything seems bad, even things which are pretty decent people still complain and nitpick every little detail..I mean it's not completely true that everything is shit, I know people want the best but in the end, which sports game nail every aspect today..

Still - nice to finally see match on PA0. They always seems nicer to watch for me.
Correct me if im wrong, but its a 10mins match, 5mins halfs, right?
If that option will be in the demo, we will get more insight than last year.

A decent number of teams and a 10min demo on multi formats (with PC guys doing some magic too)? That'd be me taken care of for the next year. Fingers crossed.

Having spurs in the selection would be a dream but its not going to happen.

Lpool are my nemesis team (spurs w default tactics; regular/pro) - so to have them in the selection would be good enough.

"Can I beat Lpool today" has become MyGame

That fucking run up
Penalties look like shit in PES. Good job we don't get many.
Yeah that particular run up looks ridiculous.Probably the worst of them all. There are nearly 5-6 different ones i think.
At least they added some specific realistic signature ones to some players this time.
I saw a Pogba and a Lewandowski one in other videos and they looked good and identical to how they run up in real life.

Last good penalty system that i remember in a football game was in Fifa 16.
That clip from Kane's penalty in Fifa 20 also looks decent with good run up and good foot planting.
From Fifa 17 to 19 it was very bad with poor run ups and foot planting and skipping animations.

Pes has basic and not good enough penalty system for years now.
They really need to revamp it at some point.
But i think this year it looks more decent in general than previous years,if you exclude that particular weird looking Ronaldinho run up.

The ball freedom has no adjectives. Makes every second of the match exciting and totally unpredictable.
I've dreamed with ball physics at this level.

The ball is the gravitational center of this sport. Feeling so free and natural becomes in a trustly immersive experience for me. It is the pillar of the gameplay and the rest of the pieces must be built from there.

A few times you can see weird moments because of this. There are not enough animations or Ai awarness for this level of freedom. But it's ok for me. I hope Konami don't change it adding glue or script bounces to solve this very few moments.

Is this the video that shows the incredible poor animations? Maybe it's poor if you compare it with real human motion...

About the pass accuracy: The new pass error system only takes care about the body angle.
This is the main reason why you can chain so many first touch pass.
The ball trajectory/speed/spin/bounces of the previous pass is overrided if you're facing correctly. The accuracy system hasn't any sensibility to ball physics.
It's something that must be developed on the future.
They only have to look back at how they did it in the PS2 versions.

Remeber this?

Had many funny moments with this rectangle chase mechanics.

They only have to look back at how they did it in the PS2 versions.

Yeah! a lot to learn from these PES.

I remeber Fifa implemented this "ball physics memory" few years ago. Its ball physics are really really poor but at least they have the concept.

You could hide the squares with the trigger button, I believe.

Lol this looks confusing af.
I've never played on N64 though.Had a Super Nintendo and then PS1,2,3.Nowadays only on PC.(Master Race afterall..;)))

It's funny to see how bad that old clips look in terms of graphics, animations, general movement etc.
But back then it was considered super great.64 bits, the double of PS1 which had 32.We really thought that it looks fantastic lol.
Now that we are used to today's technology and take it for granted,we say things like ''i would expect much more from a game 15 years after''.But i'm pretty sure that if we could somehow see a 19 or 20 clip back then, with today's quality of graphics and movement,we would wet our pants and think that we're seeing some alien technology shit, considering that we thought back then that these very outdated graphics and mechanics are actually good.

Of course the AI hasn't progressed as much as we would maybe expect when you compare it to graphics, and this goes for every video game.
It probably is the most difficult thing to achieve in a video game also.
But in other aspects we've surely progressed by miles when you look at these old videos.

Yes, just you wait when 10 years from now we'll... we'll still be complaining about half-assed AI and bad animations, aren't we?

I've watched a few of the latest vids. Looks totally same old same old. All the space on the pitch, the weird sprinting animations, weird air balls physics, weird colison system. And I'm sure the absolute basic problems I complained about 7 years ago are still present, like the limited choice of camera angles, and inabitity to play a proper full manual match online (I played the 19 demo and it still only filters manual passing, meaning you can be matched with someone who uses manual passing but assisted shooting. GARBAGE!) etc.

Still seems to me like Konami are doing the bare minimum changes/additions just to get a game out there each year. The game has been stagnate in it's fundamentals ever since they started using fox engine. To purchase 20 is barely a consideration for me.

PES needs a ground up revamp but seemingly Konami are content to coast along with what they have.

Also what's up efootball being added to the title, Seems so unnesscary and gives me strong "hellofellowkids" vibes.

This makes me laugh so much.. Konami is serious for a cutscene? How many videos do we have about Master League training system, or transfer market, about the improved tactics, about game modes, etc? It's all about pure marketing, I can't see much more beyond that

You know...
Before PES 2018 came out, or somewhere around that, Konami/PES were looking for new staff. I remember it clearly.
They were looking for artists, designers, etc.. And I think it was Kei Masuda who said that a new engine would only come when the nextgen consoles are out and the current gen will still be tied to the FOX ENGINE, that's not gonna change.

So you can see my scepticism.
I don't think every new big move from generation to generation has to be a pain in the ass. It doesn't. We shouldn't be worrying over another PES 2014 debacle. It doesn't have to be like that.
And I don't know how much of a workload it could be for Konami to take what they have now to UE.
Don't forget PES for mobile is already developed with UE so they already have some expertise developing for that engine.

oh absolutely can see what you're saying and it's possible the mobile game being on unreal engine already will help, but i doubt it will help hugely. the console game has bits of ps2 and ps3 code still there, so unless they "plan" to build on hugely shaky foundations again the move to the new machines as well as the unreal engine is still (strongly believe this) a make or break time for the series as we know it.

i see there was lots of positivity around the griezmann transfer announcement with bits of master league cutscenes yesterday. stuff that should've been in the game 3-5 years ago at least and konami are playing people like damn fiddles, making them believe it's fresh and new. other sports games, including fifa, has this kind of stuff years ago. it's crazy. don't get me wrong, nice that stuff like this is finally in, but let's call it like it is. konami has done nothing significant to master league in years (in fact it's regressed) and they add stuff that should've been in a long ago trying to make themselves look like geniuses. a few copy-paste cutscenes won't make or break the mode. the realistic management, player growth, team styles and differing gameplay will... if they somehow manage to do it.

@PRO_TOO Well, a keeper off his line can only be a good thing I guess!
correct! :)
Correct, but if he could start from somewhere near the penalty spot instead of the goal line it would be even better.
absolutely correct! :)

in PES, keepers always seem to me like field players with gloves! its a good thing these days in real life, but you get how i mean it PES-wise! ;)

The last video with the AI pen looked better but half time stats was only 1 foul, the penalty.. Full time stats were cut off again

Another thing i despise.
Look how the player gets his body straight after receiving the ball and turning.
This is an animation bug since 2015.

you must be the chief video editor at @Emroth Video Inc.! ;)
He is a Co-manager. I specialise in HCQ (Horizontal Crappy Quality), he does VCQ (Vertical Crappy Quality). ;)
Leave us alone! One day we will make a Good Quality Clip. Its a Three Year Plan!

You guys are talking about games older than me now
That should make you feel proud. You are one of very few young but not corrupted people, who can still see how modern games are lacking depth and how they could improve. Thats vey rare these days.

WOW... awful animations.. basically PES copy FIFA's awful animations. How this is the same people who make PES 2018, I have no idea...
