eFootball (All Platforms)

Sorry - I'm going to be the lone positive voice again. The gameplay is streets ahead of any other football game, including the older PES games. The variety in team styles, player ID, goal variety, responsiveness, physics, the importance of midfield control, the tempo.

I don't want to argue with anyone and appreciate it goes against the consensus - but if anyone else is enjoying it give me a shout if you fancy a game. (I'm on PS5)

Open to FUMA or assisted, and any team ability.
I totally disagree, I played one match today and I uninstalled it again.
I played 3 different games today: PES 21, eFootball on Steam and eFootball Kick Off on Switch 2.
PES 21 is still the best in my opinion. Kick Off is very close but not as good. eFootball PC is the worst of the three.

I want to like Kick Off as I have it too but the ping pong feel is just IDK

I think its time that we must come to peace and just accept the faith of how these new football games are. This is the product we are being given and either you play it or you don't. There will be no master league, and what we are used to. Its been several years that we were given s complete product and thats that.

i keep hope because of Kick Off on Switch 2. they clearly have ideas to create offline modes, so potentially it could come to other platforms, but just needs to be able to utilise the gatcha mechanic like myleague.

As I always say, the offline gameplay parameters may be also good, but those animations on that unoptimised engine always result in the same issues… Running with your legs skidding at every change of direction. It’s just a poor copy of PES 2021 for PC (where same gameplay parameters can be ported and work better) ported across an easy multiple platforms system, primarily to meet the requirements of mobile phones and optimized only for their automatic touch commands, which are now Konami’s only target audience. (There’s no point even discussing the online mode, given that the gameplay isn’t what you see offline but changes depending on the algorithm and whatever Konami decides based on player levels, cards bought to win, and loads of other rubbish like managing a match between mobile phone users with touchscreens, where everything’s automatic, and PC/console players with a gamepad in hand. Not to mention Smart Assist and DDA.)

Of course, if we’re comparing it to FC 26, it’s definitely still better when it comes to an offline exhibition match

This is something that I really don't understand about Konami.
They made offline modes on Switch 2, so they are sitting on a finished product. Why not releasing it on other platforms? After years of nothing every PES fan would jump on it, would be like printing money.
Like you're out of prison after 15 years and every girl look like Margot Robbie to you...
The game doesn't even have to be great, you are competing against monumental shits like EA FC and Goals.
Don't tell me that they don't add offline modes because it would damage their casino gacha business. It's two different crowds, the Tik Tok kids who wants to play with LSD kits and 11 Cristiano Ronaldos in matches with at least 26 goals total, and us old fuckers who want to start from second division with Celnili, Minanda and Castolo scrapping 1-0 wins.
Why can't Konami cater to both crowds?
We won't touch the gacha shit, sure, but the kids will keep opening enough card packs for us too, that addiction won't be cured by an old PES type of offline mode...

The numbers on the franchise are insane as well. There are articles saying they've generated $2b in revenue. There's no way that doesn't increase if they just polish the game (presentation/graphics) and release offline modes, even if they're just on a yearly subscription.

I did see some tweets from people having looked at the game files. There are plenty of references to UE5 and lots of files for offline modes. Given their ebaseball series moved from F2P to paid and moved to UE5, there is some precedent. I just expected it to be this year.

At this point I'm not sure they'll ever bother.

This is why this must be the last line in the sand. We have been insulted for too long! The football gaming world is crying out for a efootball proper master League. I'd admit I'm starving and I'd take a PES 2021 copy and Paste ML right now on efootball!

Not just you, not just me, TMK here who's commentating on efootball finals and is probably the biggest efootball youtuber out there saying the exact same thing we are here 37:00 minutes in:

Nobody is happy about there being such precious little to do. Its too quiet. It literally makes no sense.

I'm not gonna lie, I have been enjoying this game. I think gameplay wise, it's superior to pes 2021. Stats/attributes matter in this game more, dribbling is feasible and passing attributes really shine and the CPU AI are more threatening in the attack than PES 2021. However shooting is still too automated just like the fox engine PES and the CPU defense is weaker than PES 2021's CPU defense. They sometimes don't engage. But obviously the main issue with the game is the lack of modes but i think this game, gameplay wise is superior to all of the FIFA/FC games since 17 and all of the PES games since 2019.

It's so frustrating.. what could be. Reminds me of a beautiful woman I used to date, but the inside of her head was hell so the outside ended up not mattering.

DownloadeDd EFootball on steam. Played 5 matches. Quickly uinstalled it. I'm not a big PES 21/FL fan but its ahead of its time compared to eFootball. Modern football gaming is dead.

Overload is fun but chaotic. The attacking movement is great but can get too congested at times with everyone drifting closer to the ball - I think I'll go back to Possession eventually as it's a bit more structured.

This is my current set-up in attack, which transitions back into a 4-5-1 in defence. Tried pushing the RB into RMF, but the movement becomes weird without an active playstyle so the runs are actually better from RB.

The left CB is key, he pushes forward as a supporting DM. I'm using Ito Hiroki there who has all the key passing stats to make it work. With Overload the Dummy Runner pops up everywhere, loads of diagonal runs either down the right flank, or across the FITB.

Haven't had much luck trying to recreate an inverted full-back (RB into DM) - think you'd need to use an Anchor man playstyle w/ an active defensive playstyle at RB for it to work.

I hate to admit it but the gameplay is really good! I play amorim tactics and now it actually works with the new settings. The Ai also plays decent football. What a shame that there are no offline modes still 😪

The way the game works with player styles and formations etc would be so great in ML. Changing the team to how you want to play and getting the right players in to do that, or training up existing players.

Unfortunately, you PES 2021 console players have been stuck with Konami’s v.1.07.02 gameplay for years (Even version 1.01.00 of PES 2021 was much more fun; then they watered it down with latest updates so they could persuade you to play eFootball the following year), so I understand that every gameplay change proposed by eFootball (at least offline) is like a breath of fresh air in a sweltering summer that’s lasted five years… but my most sincere and impartial advice remains the same as what you’ve already been given in the past; sell your consoles and buy a PC (it doesn’t even have to be that expensive) and enjoy Football Life 2026 and the upcoming Football Life 2027, then play with the gameplay modifications you like best… I’d like to remind everyone that you don’t need a cutting-edge PC to play the game, even in 4K… a decent second-hand gaming PC from a few years ago would do just fine… or if you want to keep it near the TV, there are excellent mini PCs that can handle the game and take up very little space, less than a console.

Don’t expect Konami to meet your needs… they’re now focusing only on mobile cards lottery users… Your needs can only be met by the PC modding community. ;)
Take, for example, the new league structures coming soon with Football Life 2027 and it’s all free… modding on PC is more alive than ever… 😜

It's not about the individual changes, it's about the fundamental approach to tactics and gameplay. The way tactics, play styles and player traits work together is genuinely good.

I also think eFootball does a lot better than PES2021. Regardless if it gets better on PC there would be a lot I'd want from eFootball that can't be added with mods. It's moot anyway as I don't have a PC, I only play console and I've gone long enough without a game. I did go back to PES21 for a while with an updated OF but it was a long way off the gameplay of eFootball. Again, for me, these are things that aren't solved by mods. It's certain mechanics, the way the game moves etc.

Glad people can get their fix from the modded versions and more power to you for enjoying it but everyone is different and I think eFootball is fundamentally a much better game, it's just missing all of the modes I need to play regularly.

I haven't played a single second of eFootball, and I love Pes 2021 as much the next guy (although to be honest it's just one among the many good retro games I rotate), but man, God only knows how much I miss especially the stuff I put in bold. I watched some video of the new eFootball in player vs CPU lately, I see for example AI wingers playing like wingers and think it's such a shame 21 will most probably never have something similar modded in.

It's been a while since I played PES 21 but I remember the fullbacks being pretty irrelevant. Rarely ventured forward, and when they did crosses rarely ever resulted in a headed goal. I don't think Deep Lying Forwards existed either, used to have to use a Dummy Runner there instead to try and mimick the movement.

Still think the Prolific Winger positioning needs tweaking in eFootball somewhat. They hang wide but would like them to cut inside a little bit more, need more diagonal late runs.

One mechanic I miss from PES is the option to play a manual pass by holding L2 without always needing to be on FUMA. Also think the body feints were better, but might be confusing it with one of the older FIFA games. I think it was FIFA 16 were you could hold a shoulder button, which let you then control the body movement with the analog stick without moving the ball.

On the Overload playstyle - the game does become a bit too frantic when both teams use it. But it's still a nice option to have to break down opponents that park the bus.

My only concern about the game is it's longevity with the lack of modes and the power creep of the cards they're releasing. If they had a more balanced squad building game it would be perfect. I know there's a few community leagues that do that with the GP cards, but I don't really have to time these days to co-ordinate a time and date to arrange a game with someone directly.

man, cpu beahviour depend only by parameters (not inside option file but inside the exe) used by konami (or by modders in case of pes2021 inside exe and dt18 file) in the same game konami which it has been "selling" us for years us, whether it’s called eFootball or is still called PES 2021; nothing else...

for example take an eye of cpu movements in this three videos, particularly the first one :

Real Madrid is CPU

Bayern Munich is CPU

CPU vs CPU

and you will the a different cpu beahviour compared to what you’re normally used to seeing in the vanilla version of PES 2021 1.07.02

these only just a little examples...

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear enough in my post above. I'm specifically talking about CPU players who are supposed to be good dribblers (Vinicious Junior, Lookman, Neymar in his best years and so on...) using dribbling and trying to take on the defender one vs one with consistency. Sadly, no Pes 2021 mod ever achieved that and at this point I doubt ever will, although I'd love to be proven wrong.

did you see the first video at least?!?:CONF::THINK:

really watch the movements of the forwards like Vinícius, precisaly ;)

I sit through all the minutes of the first video, but I don't understand where I'm supposed to see the movement you are talking about in reference of CPU consistently taking defenders one vs one. Could you point it out?

the most evident is to 0.50 minute (Vinicious jr)... but there are also little moments where you can see all the real madrid players try to dribble his opponents... Just because I managed to stop them doesn’t mean they don’t do it ;)

note: ...."Consistently taking defenders one vs one"... it would an "unreal" gameplay... exactly like "unreal engine" used by efakeball... :D (I know, it’s a joke that isn’t so funny… :D ;) )

Yeah, I see. It's not enough for me.

"Consistently taking defenders one vs one", since maybe I, again, wasn't able to properly make me understand by you, means that I'll know in a match a player with good dribbling or the proper traits will try to take my defenders one on one when the chance to so arise. It happens everytime in real life.

In Pes 21 this just isn't a thing :))

you continue don't understand the base concept I explain here from months.. these were only examples where you can see differents cpu beahviour respect vanilla exe of pes 2021... you can port the exactly same parameters from efootball inside pes and conversely because the most part of the game (exe) is the same from years... but on efootball result given by unreal engine with animations for mobile phones it will always poor respect pes 2021... it's only a gameplay parameters issue inside the game (not with an option file) to solve a gameplay, nothing else

Note: I just played also an offline match with efootball 6.0.0 and not vinicious but all the real madrid doesnt' made a single dribble during the match :D ;)

Dude I said I'd just want to worry about wingers trying to dribble my defenders. I'm not saying efootball is the perfect game or that modding doesn't improve 21 in other things. No idea why you are taking it so personally lol
