Because PES 21 didn't have to run on smartphones.
 
At least its pleasing to look at when this game is in motion compared to god awful eafc. That game is just an eye sore.

Heading to 2027 and state of football games are grim. Nothing about the video of either games tell you there's heart and soul into it, its just a perpetual soulless cash grab that its not even subtle anymore. Strong finish to the videos with preorders of packs and players says it all.

Honestly? Improved tactics, player and manager individuality, new animations for defending, shooting and goalkeepers - all are core improvements that can make a big difference. I really want to see how it plays out.
At the moment, full manual is very rewarding, but my gripe is that the final third lacks variety and oomph, scoring feels flat.
These changes seem to be a step to make things better.
 
The worst thing is that we could easily get a great football game in 2026. We are not getting it, and not because of lack of devs talent or technical limitations.
We are not getting it because of greed. A gacha microtransaction-ridden online casino disguised as football game is more profitable. It's fucking sad.
They killed PES and now they're pissing on his grave.

Just because ... it is!
Pro Evolution Soccer 2021 was a complete game on modern game engine on moment of release, with it's "+" and "-", with partially (or more complex) involved scripting, with some limitations of game engine (that was utilized developers of game on such level, that they can afford it to current release of those time) - but it's still complete game, that can be playable even after moment, when online servers was off, game with set of different modes inside.

And eFootball - is a "soccer-themed game" for tic-toc "order and eat like at McDonald's" users - and the same idea of instant fast dopamine and instant wins - main idea of many current games of game market.

P.S. Certainly, I am know - there is really "nothing new" in written words, but it is very sad.

P.S.2 My comment was written before I am also read the same message from forum mate Richie. It's exactly the same thoughts, because so obvious.

Still that awful color palette, still that scoreboard made with those awful colors, the grass still looks terrible—almost like 360p—still that awful atmosphere and ambience, but most importantly, there’s still no Master League or any offline mode.

A few new animations have been added and a few tactical details—that’s all. Of course, these are insignificant for those who spend money and only play online.

Only the player graphics are nice, and I think the gameplay is better than FC in many ways. For those like me who only play Master League, eFootball is still a completely empty game.
 
Honestly for me, this is amazing. Game feels fantastic, and the added animations are very impactful as it corrects so many common weird ones.

Very keen to start a ‘myleague’, which is saying something despite having the FC27 beta.

Isn't standard league just myleague? Just build a team with presets.

i have to wait to play anyway, realised transfers haven't been done. Might have to wait until the window closes.

Think you have to loan in all the players to your team right? I did play it briefly but there's just so little going on.

I'd happily pay a yearly subscription to edit and ML add ons if it was an option.

mostly agree, moves better than FC now, with superior player models and (licensed) kit representation.

But in gameplay cam still should be better, especially the grass.

Yeh loan, or buy them from the standard player list using GP. Assuming you'd have enough to buy everyone you need by now.

I have a few niggles with the gameplay, but honestly it’s just the pay2win aspect and lack of game modes that holds it back. Very inconsistent connection quality as well, which can make it unplayable. The lack of changes for next seasons update is also underwhelming.

All the top cards have 90+ stats across the board now, so I don’t really see where Konami can go from here. Surely less people will pay if they can’t realistically improve their team any further?

This game just needs the PES modes and a GP based players division online mode with fixed number of games and it will be excellent

Sorry - I'm going to be the lone positive voice again. The gameplay is streets ahead of any other football game, including the older PES games. The variety in team styles, player ID, goal variety, responsiveness, physics, the importance of midfield control, the tempo.

I don't want to argue with anyone and appreciate it goes against the consensus - but if anyone else is enjoying it give me a shout if you fancy a game. (I'm on PS5)

Open to FUMA or assisted, and any team ability.
 
I agree, the game is good honestly. It's just a shame that, at least at the moment, they don't care about offline players.

Gameplay is good, but its definitely not what I've thought football games will look like in 20 years, when I was playing ps2 PES.
Lack of Offline modes, Online modes, Events, Competitions, Tournaments. eFootball is just a mobile card collecting game with extra steps, be that as it may, FIFA became a joke of a game as well... and no one can make a better one, GOALS is not it, UFL is basically dead.... just painful.

Well said, it's worrying how brainwashed we've all become by sheer mediocrity that we even give anything like this the slightest bit of credit.
 
The reason why I call this game straight evil! This has now been ramped up by about 10x after that HUGE subtle update.

This is it now. the line in the stand. This is the very last year we can stand for the game in this state offline. This cannot go one like this any longer!

Konami need to stop contradicting their own creation. All these former FIFA/FC26 youtuber loving off efootball because yes is almost decades ahead of anybody else in regards to the basic core gameplay. It laughs at everything else.

If there was actually something to do OFFLINE WORTHWHILE the world would be signing this games praises but no. As usual. Everything is just online, same old events, same old efootball league bullshit. I mean the other day despite my severe connection issues I managed to win 5-4 after being 3-0 down and yet nothing. no happiness, no joy, just me raging at the terrible leg half the game and other bullshit.

Konami! There still no love, passion and in this game. but is the most evil version yet. Outside of gameplay for 5 YEARS NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So the gameplay i actually like. It's very good. I don't care. There's no purpose apart from online microtransactions for me to enjoy at get lost in. But this gameplay is so much better than anything else that's ever existed at its core fundamental creates an issue for our football fix.

This is literally an assessment from watching Dream Team AI vs AI tour mode games so i can collect the free stuff to get all the new free cards! This is not a 20/40 minute full manual game or something 6 months into a hardcore 2nd division RTG with Queens Park Rangers away to Birmingham. Just imagine what this game could do with some actual incentive to be realistic offline with a ML or custom easy offline tournaments like before.

All I can say this year if anyone is up for manual leagues please hit me up klashman-69 i think is my PS handle and I'll see if my connection on my PC is stable too for manual games which will be fun on this with a good crowd!
