eFootball (All Platforms)

well PES 2021 online is coming back so maybe that will help a bit?
Online play holds absolutely no interest for me. I played eFootball in a FUMA league. Of course, I can't stand the "Dream Team" mode for even a second, so I gave the FUMA league a shot. It was fun for about five games, but after that, I lost interest. I love Master League—the immersion, telling my own story just like I did when I was a kid; that’s what got me hooked. It’s just something that isn't really addressed anymore these days. The days when developers were judged by the quality of their offline content are long gone.

what ? how ? where did you see that ?

excellent ! gotta get back to it then !

Been a month since I started playing and still really enjoying it.

It’s frustrating as it’s so close to being a fantastic game. The Player ID is superb. I like that any playstyle is viable, and I don’t think there’s been another football game with the same variety of goals.

I have a few niggles with the gameplay, but honestly it’s just the pay2win aspect and lack of game modes that holds it back. Very inconsistent connection quality as well, which can make it unplayable. The lack of changes for next seasons update is also underwhelming.

All the top cards have 90+ stats across the board now, so I don’t really see where Konami can go from here. Surely less people will pay if they can’t realistically improve their team any further?

Yeh completely agree.

I actually can’t believe the lack of uproar around the pay to win mechanics. Basically £150 every week to get the latest and greatest, no transfer market or resale value.

From what I’ve seen the community aren’t happy with it, but there’s zero chance it will ever change unless there’s legalisation that clamps down on it. Konami have had record profits since launch.

There are players that can still compete without spending, but you’re still at a big disadvantage. And you don’t need to spend every week to keep up, but if the initial start up costs are huge to have a remotely competitive team.

I’m embarrassed at how much I’ve spent already. Probably couple hundred. Don’t feel I need to anymore, but yeah it’s a disgusting business practice and I’m not surprised it puts people completely off the game.

EA FC is much fairer in that aspect. People still spend silly money, but the difference between free and p2w isn’t significant. You can build a comparable team on very little.

I've done similar in the past, spent more than I should. However I had become really selective because it became too much. The way they released the WC Big time cards was painful, no way I could afford to get everyone.

I guess that's where I get frustrated with YouTubers who show the game, especially NickRTFM. He just jokes about it and continues playing, find it so contradictory to his critism of EA and their £140 edition.

Those YouTube influencers are a problem as they increase the FOMO by showcasing every newly released card as the best ever broken cracked etc etc when really it’s marginal gains from the last one.

Bombin is a good one. Completely f2p squad, and focuses more on the actual gameplay itself without exploiting the mechanics

I agree. A lot of creators unintentionally (or intentionally) fuel FOMO by making every new promo card sound like it's a must-have. After a while you realize that most of these upgrades are pretty small unless you're playing at a very high competitive level. That's why I also prefer channels that focus on gameplay, tactics, and getting the most out of the players you already have instead of constantly chasing the newest cards. It makes the game feel much more enjoyable and a lot less like an endless grind.

Holy crap, I've just seen the eFootball account tweeting this...

They clearly think FC27's The Grounds is going to get some attention today (with the closed beta being out) and that people want this...

Man, get me off this planet. All these spin-offs and not one indie / company can make a football sim?

It's actually impressive how tone deaf they are as a company. Constantly finding new ways to shock me, just when I think I've seen it all.

Regarding other companies...something needs to be done about licensing, I think that's the biggest barrier to entry for some of these bigger studios and that in itself should be enough to raise some questions. It's a real shame 2k lost their monopoly case against EA because it really does damage competition. At the very least, a deep edit mode which doesn't allow sharing should be allowed. If WWE games can avoid action I don't see why football games can't.

I was really hoping Konami would build on their positive sentiment with 27s release but that last connect was, frankly, pathetic. There is still another one due before it drops but the chances of it being positive for me are essentially zero.

Have you played Kick Off?
It's totally fine to dislike it but to be fair the gameplay is very different from the eFootball on consoles and PC.
I've returned to eFootball on PC from time to time after updates and never liked it.
Kick Off feels different to play and closer to the old PES.
My bad i forgot the full name of the EFootball Wii version. I through it was the "real" Kick-Off (like another game from Dino Dino or Sensible) you were talking about and i never, even young get the hype or enjoyed that type of football representation at all. But i understand why some loved it before (the feeling of stuffs can happens everytimes, ball pushing /a bit too much/ away after a run to your 1st touch etc.)

No idea but i would pay, not too much, for that game if it's out on others Console/ an even Steam too (as we can't mod kits or name and from their answers about EFootball classics : they will never change it and i suppose even in the offline mode... It would take them less than a week even to make possible faces importation for F sake.
I would only play with Fifpro player's that's sure (i don't ever think that fake players are "allowed" to participate to any type of online tournament, no idea for the offline but in PES 2021 you need to register them to a Real club to make them available.

-But about the debate : they don't shock me anymore to be honest. I've seen so much try-hard stuffs from their part that nothing impresses me anymore. To me it's another add like usual : the type of add that we, old crowd, don't care and would give one dollar to play that shhh mode.
