eFootball (All Platforms)

Jeez... I think it's been months since the last time I've posted anything here, good to see everyone's still around. How's eFootball going? I'll admit that between work and other responsibilities in life I just sort of stopped caring about it, my last time caring was when I heard a league mode was coming, genuinely excited me then, but after downloading the update, which is always huge on PS4, I couldn't find a way to play it cooperatively with my dad...

Is ML out? Or at least a proper league/cup mode I can play cooperatively?

No nothing, the only change is efootball league has got vs the AI as well now, hopefully you can play that cooperatively with your Dad

Are we interested enough in Authentic teams to see them overtake legends, or at least separate filters? I am keen to meta/rat a box 4 formation (everyone else spread out about somewhere, improvising some type of play in possession), though I think it's already being implemented by a good number eFootball league players, playing back fours with legends of yesteryear.

P.S. I admit the PvP aspect is effectively well-balanced still, making it difficult to outplay your opponent due to collective team strength (at least in my experience). The connection holds up well even in quick unranked. The A.I. on the other hand, is peerless and plays the game magnificently all on its own. The immersion of a Master League could be enticing but is more click bait these days than evidence based.

I see, thanks for the heads up! I'll try cooperative again later, after all of the updates are done, hopefully they've fixed this..

I couldn't agree more, crazy that it's been 4 years now and it's still in such a ridiculous state.
 
What does it look like when you are playing online against someone using smart assist?

I am seeing things like the power bar is always the same length when it gets filled and they always tackle you and block every shot in the box.

I played version 4.4.0, the gameplay is good, but what kills me personally is the blurry graphics and I can't play the game because of this.. It's noticeable where it came from, especially after the croowds, unfortunately. I'll come back if I can until they significantly improve the graphics.

It is pretty obvious by now why. We always were a bit naive to a degree especially with all the promises Konami gave us. But no doubt this game is a "spend as much as your money possible online" type of a game, and people even if not happy about it they play it and play into Konami's pocket. So why bother from their end?
 
Despite all the shortfalls with modes, presentation, graphics etc, I still reckon the gameplay is the best of any football game to date.
Ive been playing the latest update for the last week or so, exhibition, 12min, full manual, switching between top player to legend difficulty, and am very satisfied with everything on the pitch. There is definitely more weight to the game (player and ball ball physics) since the last update, and It seems every new update SLOWLY BUT SURELY headed in the right direction adding to animations, ai attack variation etc. I'm loving the dribbling with the higher attributed players, passing players with just the left movement stick, with little touches that look great in replay mode. Speaking of attributes, the crossing by some players looks amazing... the curve and whip looks amazing, especially when met by a decent header. btw, with crosses, seems better and more variation now, without using the super power (blue bar) crossing... I get better whippier crossing without it... by simply using particular players who i guess have a better crossing attribute. I'm not sure if anyone else is enjoying this game as much as me, but what's actually being delivered on the pitch, gameplay wise, animations, player physics etc is amazing. Even the PK's (which i now set up to occur at the end of each drawn game) look and feel better than ever, ie. the ball physics and speed of the shots on goal feel and look realistic in terms of speed and power.

I do use the ultra-graphics mod, play on pc, 1080p @ 120hz and its smooth as butter. It's smooth, weighty, and very reactive on the ball. At the minute, there's not one thing that bugs me gameplay wise. Anyone feel this is the best version yet???

You can always learn to do it with the left...

But that's the way games in general are. No matter how terrible, people keep playing, people keep paying. Until there is an absolute boycott (where not a single person plays or gives them a penny for a week at minimum, which will never happen, let's be real), they'll just continue as they are, adding stuff you need to pay for, trying to grab a slice of the pie.

Bit OT, but I watched a video over a month ago about Microsoft's phone division. They talked about having a slice of the market share, not domination in their market share. I feel Konami are the same. They won't beat EA, but they can share some of the customer-base

Konami should just give up mobiles altogether and focus on consoles

What’s the latest with this game? Is it still free to play? I remember the yearly excitement, disappointment and “we’re getting a new engine” talk.
 
I'm telling ya, it's good. I actually mean that seriously. If you haven't played the game for a while, it's the best it's ever been. Better than that 0.9.1 version or whatever it was... why?... way more polished, definitely better in terms of how it runs as well... more optimized/efficient in terms of performance, not necessarily graphics (you still need a good PC, but it's definitely running better - i play at 1080p @ 120hz and its as smooth as butter. looks and runs awesome). Also, the balance between weight, player and ball, and response time is the best its ever been. For example, always loved the animations in pes14, but at cost was the crazy bad response time. eFootball now, is pretty perfect at how the animations run, together with the pretty instant response times.
As posted a few posts ago, I reckon it's the best football game to date, GAMEPLAY-wise. Played a heap over the week and im continually noticing things being added to animations to make the overall game look more realistic on the park, particularly the little touches/trapping etc. Since the last update ive seen the AI attacking with a noticeable increase in variety... dribbling/taking me on, touches away from my defenders before shooting, long range shots, and just a big increase to goal scoring variation. Overall, things just look and play much more naturally, and actually look like a football game when compared to games like EA. I use ultra graphics mod + endo's mod, which does improve things. Here's hoping that Konami focus more on the PC version (and console version), keep working on certain graphical areas, e.g. turf, so that the game can finally look more next gen. Thats my biggest criticism - the turf/lighting still looks better in many of the pes2021 turf mods. Anyways, just an opinion. Haven't played the ps5 versions etc.

Just played a game now, and here is an example (not a great example, but an example none the less) of a natural touch taken by the ai attacker whilst running on goal... just noticing a lot of this natural (momentum inducing) variety to touches on the run etc. Just makes the game look more natural, and run more smoothly.

That running animation looks a bit odd to me , his left foot kind of stubs the floor then the animation fixes itself , i think in real life he falls over
 
Had a quick game of 2v2 with some students last week. Seemed to work quite well, fairly smooth. I feel like the mobile version certainly gets more focus from Konami than the console version, especially with regards to online

It'll never be 100%. But tell me of another football game that has or has had better animations, particularly running animations. Don't reckon there is one.
 
I´m playing this at the moment mostly 1vs1 on the PC. We even had a 2vs2 recently which was a lot of fun.
Gotta say, the gameplay is really good. Loving the animations and what´s going on on the pitch.
Setting speed on -2, which is sometimes still too fast. I wish we would have a speedserver-tool for this.

What I don´t like are the replays. They´re being played too fast and sometimes from odd angles, not to mention the flickering.

Then I tried to get into myclub and would love to play vs AI only, but the fact, that you can´t set the game speed there, kills it for me.
Game speed 0 is way too fast for me.

So for playing solo it´s still PES 2021 for me.

Efootball is a mobile soccer game, but on consoles and PCs.
That's why they'll never release it, or they'll release it in 5 years.
Even though it disgusts us, EA FC is the only soccer game that exists with complete modes. The rest are demos.

I think it does matter. I think Gameplay does matter, and is number 1 on most peoples list. A game with masterleague and offline tournaments etc, is no use if the gameplay stinks. Gameplay is key, and should be the first goal.. for the game to represent football the best it can on the pitch...
I understand for some people, modes like masterleague is important, but if they don't get the base of the game right first, then whats the point. Anyways, people like me have limited time to play modes, and am happy just putting on exhibition mode or playing 1 v 1 with mates at home... and for that, what happens on the pitch, ie. gameplay matters most. If it was me, Id want Konami to work on graphics ( next gen graphics) before modes.. but yeah.. would love a ML or offline tournaments for sure. But wouldnt even play these if the GP was shite.

Gameplay is subjective (Except for the new FIFAs which 99% of people agree its shit). Even if Efootball was the greatest gameplay ever in any football game, the majority of people with a PC or even a console would play PES 21 because the gameplay is still really good and there are things to do in the game as a single player. That said I dont think Efootball is that good certainly not to modded PES 21 anyway, and it looks naff on the PS5
 
I’d say I’m more of an exhibition type player these days and would definitely agree that the gameplay on this is pretty damn satisfying against the ai. Completely understand how those type of players can get on with this, particularly if you’re on pc and can do some basic modding.

I’m on console, though and I used to be able to overlook things like licensing (even on Xbox with no option files) because of the gameplay but with this I just can’t…. it just looks so poor and absolutely nowhere near what it could be. It’s really jarring.

You’ve also got that fact that you can’t even do the most basic of edits to the kits, there’s no differentiation of the scoreboards and the game is completely saturated with that god awful Ryanair style colour scheme.

If they brought the graphics up to standard and gave us more editing capacity I’d be all over this….but until then I’ll have to make do elsewhere, there’s no choice really.
