eFootball (All Platforms)

So I played efootball kick off (offline) all evening and I'm suprised to report it's actually pretty fun for what it is.
A nice simple UI, fast & responsive gameplay with a bit of an old school PES vibe about it.
It's still efootball at it's core but there's something oddly satisfying & different about it that I like, feels like a bit of a hybrid.

It's severely lacking in options though. The World Tour mode would be significantly better if you weren't stuck playing 5 minute matches and some player progression would have been nice, especially with the OG ML default players onboard.

Seriously Konami this a paid game & offline mode and you're locking the match length, WHY!!?

I had more fun playing exhibition matches with unlocked settings TBH.

A decent footy game for the Switch 2 nonetheless but it feels a bit like a paid demo. Hopefully they may update a few things in future but it's a decent effort on the gameplay & graphics.

It’s great people are actually giving the game a chance with the switch 2 version and enjoying the gameplay. I think there’s an overly negative view of the core game itself due to the mess off modes, menus and all the card shit. Ultimately the gameplay is the same of switch although I’ve read it looks better?

Again, I really hope Konami have done this to test the water for something slightly bigger for the big update for the 26/7 season

It's very similar yes but there's something different about it compared to regular efootball. A little more open in defence perhaps and definitely a tad snappier, faster, arcadey etc.
The keepers need work & the A.i is very clinical on higher difficulties, almost too much.

It's just nice too fire up a simple football game without having micro transactions and player cards shoved in your face. It's basic yes but refreshing to see.

Agree about Konami testing the water, that's my hope too. If it sells well and proves theirs an audience for a paid separate product then we might finally get something worth playing again.

I'd actually like to see them release this new Kick off game on other platforms. Maybe they will, who knows.

I agree, Switch 2 version feels different from standard eFootball. I'm enjoying it so far, it's the closest football game to the old PES we've got lately.
What is missing so far to make it really great: lack of edit mode (let us at least use the internal editor to change the fake names), lack of options on World Tour mode (why no game length options??), and not enough offline modes (love World Tour but would be nice to have at least Leagues and Cups if not a Master League...).
Having fun so far, but not as good as PES 21 in my opinion.
What I really love about this version though, online modes are optional and there are no microtransactions, you unlock players and team kits by playing and winning. Should be the norm, but still it is refreshing in this day and age.

Makes me want to buy Switch 2. Nothing but positive reviews.
It's good for £15 but I wouldn't recommend anyone go out & buy a Switch 2 unless you're in market for that system anyway.

It's fun & simple but lacking in modes & options unfortunately . If they'd added some playable domestic Leagues or even a bare bones ML or edit mode I would've happily paid more.

Just out of curiosity, can anyone tell me if there are weather options like rain in this Switch 2 version? Or it's just night and day?

Yeah, it's good but let's see if and how they add more content. On Thursday 11th June they will update the national team rosters.
Hoping for more offline modes and some internal editor. Plus they should unlock all options for World Tour, makes no sense that you cannot pick the game length for that mode.
I was already going to buy a Switch 2 so for me this game is a no brainer, but if you are on the fence wait to see what they do with the game in terms of updates.

On the Switch version It's really nice being able to access & unlock all the legends just by playing offline matches in World Tour.

Pure nostalgia, I have Puyol in my defense and my forward is Drogba. Reminds me of playing old PES on a shitty laptop.

Yeah it's great not having to even think about spending money or opening card packs. The fact you can take these players online too is great although I'm not much of an online player, it's good the option is there.

Looking forward to unlocking Adriano.

I have Cafu and Nakamura so far.

The funny thing is I've seen some say it's closer to the mobile version than the console version. And from what I've seen, it does look that way
It's definitely not the mobile version. It's a hybrid game of some sorts, closer to the console & PC versions visually although not quite up to the same levels graphically.

Gameplay wise it appears have a bit of it's own identity. Faster and more open in defence. Less sim like but very enjoyable in short bursts which I think is what they were going for as a £15 Switch game with 5 minute matches in the offline modes.
The CPU attacking AI is not the same as efootball, feels like it's been ramped up a bit to create action/goals hence the games feeling quite open & arcade like, I think this is why they've locked the match length to 5 mins in the dedicated offline modes (although I wish they hadn't)

Had quite a few high scoring matches against the CPU with 10 minute matches, 4-4, 4-5 etc is common if you don't defend well as they are super clinical but equally as open at the back.

Kick Off is the football game I've enjoyed the most since PES 21. Tried to give FIFA/EA FC a chance but did not click with me.
There's still a little PES DNA in Kick Off, plus I was really starved for a new decent football game.
If they add few more offline modes and some sort of internal editor I'll sink a stupid amount of time on this.

Trying to ignore all the posts about the Switch 2 version because I can't afford one.

However, all the talk about it inspired me to give the International Cup content a go on Xbox. First time I've played eFootball for a while. Have to say, I enjoyed it quite a bit, but I can't shake the feeling I've had since the first version - physics feel like they have been massively simplified in order for them to work on mobile platforms. The ball is so floaty and weird, and players run like they're in Scooby Doo (but in slow motion).

To be fair, I had fun, and I felt like the gameplay was better than PES 2021 if only because the AI seemed more human and more varied.

Graphics in cut-scenes are pretty incredible - the England player faces in the dressing room are fantastic - but then from the gameplay camera, everything seems really flat and more cartoony (which, again, I guess is a cross-platform optimisation thing).

It's just a shame that (as has been said a million times at this point) there's no real "career mode" - and that the International Cup is a limited time mode - and that every single action you take pings up seven more pop-ups telling you you've just won 1,000xp, a new 90-rated player, 10,000 points, a training boost and a new sticker for your avatar... Konami, I don't care.

In-fact, I'll give you money just to remove that entire layer of bullshit and just let me play the game without you throwing superstars at me and ruining the squad building / feeling of actually earning something, on top of adding ten more button presses to do between each match just to remove all the notifications...

Haven't Konami announced the connect showcase for e football 2027 already? Surely they have got to give us something. Its been 6 years 😂.

Oh yeah that gacha crap still gave me PTSD even after uninstalling it from Steam.

Meant to say - I *really* like the collated "feedback" you get at the end of matches now, and it's something I think would be great in a career mode, especially if it was linked to staff attributes with more intelligent coaches giving more insightful ideas.

I know it's there more to help newcomers with the controls, but if it was tweaked so that instead of saying e.g. "don't hold down the shoot button for so long" it said "we're having to shoot from distance, substitute in [player name] who's better suited" - or from more intelligent coaches, "their midfield is suffocating us and we need to change our gameplan" (perhaps with even more intelligent coaches suggesting a new formation and substitutes to best suit a switch in the passing approach)... It'd feel like talking to your backroom staff.

It's quite a nice immersion thing to see staff "talking to you" when key events happen in-game too. It's just a shame they're quite Konami / cartoony.

I know FC does something similar when it gives you suggested formation changes when you go a goal down etc., but that feels way more simplistic *and* way less human.

WELP! Japan got a physical release.....

Would have bought this in a heartbeat if they'd released it here although I am tempted to import a copy just for old times sake.

So is Kick Off entirely different game than efootball 2026 ? Completely lost now.

Way to steal a name too btw from Dino Dini’s Kick Off.

Yes it's a standalone game specifically for the Switch 2 more focused on offline play. There's no player cards, packs, online events or micro transactions/digital currency.

You earn & unlock players, kits & Legends by playing the World Tour mode against the Ai.

It's basic but quite a lot of fun for £15. Feels more like an old school PES game than efootball.
