EA SPORTS FC 27

How was your experience playing against AI. Did you not find them really passive with the ball and not trying to create anything?

I played a modded FIFA 15 last night after finally getting it working. I know it's new feeling bias, but jesus what a game vs the AI.
I played my first 7 matchs with only Authentic sliders on.
I try "Tactical" but it was a disaster, the CPU didn't make anything on the pitch
I try "Dynamic", the CPU was nice but didn't make enough long crosses for my taste (it's an obession for me:P) but I played 6 matchs like that.

After, I have select "Authentic" to have the "Authentic sliders"
And i have noticed some behaviour I didn't like so I tweak some sliders

1/ The passes were too speed, sometimes very ridiculious -->decreased the ground passes speed
2/ Every shots were on goal for me and the CPU--> increase shot error slider
3/Some bad sliding animation --> decrease speed and acceleration sliders
4/CPU didn't shot enough long range --> increase long range slider
5/CPU takes too many time to cross sometime--> increase cross sliders

Yesterday I try "difficulty based on player", it works fine.

FIFA 15 gameplay is still one of the best to date.

I agree with the positive essay of saturator. The engine itself is really good. What people does not like are precise gameplay choices to make the product appealing for everyone.
I know that authentic mode was born for people that doesn't like the flipper that the competitive mode shown us, and still feel like "under used" because we know how much personalization can offer, but still, for a true authentic mode I think animations needs to be redone in order to have a set that go well with that.
The problem is in database and overall formula, that make all the players flat, compared to the football manager system. Because of that all the attributes are a plus/minus 5 to 9 for all the attributes that concur to the calculation of the overall. I know overall make things easier, but almost every gamer put an 83 more than an 81 just because of that number, not because of the attributes that player had.
To have a 80 central midfielder you have to force a 75 to 85 standing tackle, and we know there are midfielders that should have a very lower value. Same for finishing, since is used in the overall formula. That, I think, ruin it gameplay wise.

Just over 22 hours on the beta (and I realize this is the beta) - how anybody can say this is better than any of the previous 4 years is astounding. There is no player intelligence in or out of possession. When the CPU wants to score, it simply deactivates/slows your defender selection so you can't close the ridiculous gap they were marking in the first place. As for height, Haaland gets outjumped by 5'5" players on the CPU who hang in the air like they're hanging on wires.

Don't get me started on the midfield. Definitely the worst it's been since FIFA 20. Who marks a winger by standing closest to the touchline so every ball to them, you're isolated and playing catch-up as they just diagonally sprint towards goal as your defenders back off? Good luck with speed by the way because the catch-up bug from players who have a speed/accel rating in the lower 70s will close ground on a player with 90 speed/accel like a Chinese Unitree robot fueled by nuclear fusion.

There's just nothing realistic about this game at all other than the licenses.

Try opening the game process with cheat engine, select speedhack, lower it, and lower top speed in the sliders, and probably you'll have a mindblowing experience. You can try to combine that with some community mods (when they are out, or try them in FC 26) and you'll be even more mindblown.

The beta will be closed soon.

I want to make a global feeling and I have got a different feeling from my experience with the beta.

First, I have played more than 650 hours to FC 26. So it's fresh in my head.
I played more than 60 games on the beta.

The big issue of FC 26, was the lack of fouls.
The first thing in FC 27 you will noticed is : yes EA can made a physical game!
At the start of the beta, CPU made too many nasty dub slidding tackle . After an update, I have seen more little fouls, it's more logic.

The sliders are now powerful and you don't need to increased to high value like before.
Shoot error at 60 is perfect.
In general. 65 is the hightest value except for physically at 99😍

What's new on the screen?

The graphics are better, the lighting is amazing!
The pitch is great too.

How is the ball physics ?

With defaut value for Authentic, the ball is not stick to your feet. I didn't need to change it.
On rainning match, it's far better than FC 26. You won't see anymore rocket ball or too slow passing.
They have improved the shot variation, with a real curve. Freekick are fantastic this year. With B Fernandes or Dybala, you can score some beauties!

How feel the players ?

There is more inertia but with more rectivity too. You can now with a powerful defender like Upamecano destroys a striker like Vinicius with strong shield contacts. Very rare on FC26.
If you have seen the last video of Anth James with his V10, , everything I have seen is in FC 27 : the physicality, the strong defense, less frenetic mouvs, the better AI.
The goalkeepers are insane in a good way. Last year, they didn't box the ball enough or go away of their surface. It was fixed in FC 27. The GK sliders is at 50 at vanilla and i didn't need to increase it🤩
They go out of their surface to kick the ball if needed with many new animations.

What about AI?

EA fixed many things. Before you have to switch quickly to take control of the right player in defense because they were really dumbed and too heavy. Now, the selection is quicker and the position of the team is good. You defend now like a team, and not in 1Vs1👍.
You will see different type of marking : individual or collective. But you will see some evolution when the score changed. CPU will press you if you have the advantage but will turn around the ball if the CPU is winning.
Today, i was winning 2-0 at Sunderland. I make 5 big changes to have fresh players for the next match. It was rainning and my defender in a bad period made a very bad control. CPU has stolen the ball and scored. CPU is pushing until the end of the match to score😎

What about career mode?

I hate the new menus, too dark and FUT like but I'm living with it.
Tranfers are now great. It's take more time to have a player. It depends of your team, the conditions of the contract, your rival can going in your tranfer to steal your target. You can chose the general overal of your target and your , like in old FIFAs.

Dynamic general, what is it?

You start with a general but depends of your performance, it will increased or go down.
You will have more pressure with your stars if they didn't have great performance.
After a long injuries, it will take time to find your initial level.

How about management?

This year, it's the key. Find the perfect mix between stars and wonderkids evolution.
If they don't play enough, they will demand to be out of your team.
With more unexpecting moments, many light or long injuries will happened before an important match like a derby or a Champion League match.
You can break bad performances but it could be worst after the match.
So I played like usual with United and Juventus.
I'm leader in Serie A but 8th in Premier League.

How is the most important thing : the gameplay?

I was thinking that EA will make only little fix and basta.
But for the first Time since man years, you fell some nice things, of the old FIFAs.
FC 26 was the first step but many things were not enough.

Now, playing against City or Real Madrid or Sassualo, you feel the difference.
A 60 gen didn't make the same passes or shot than B Fernandes. Playstyle are like old player ID of Konami. Stats matter really and the moral too.
The better ball physics, the CPU is always on now with intelligent moving and a great reactivity, the fun is hear.

You love FC26? This opus will be great for you.
The comeback of the fouls changes so many things in career : strategy, injuries, stamina.
EA have done a great job. I hope FC 27 vanilla will be like that or better.

For me, this gameplay is a 8,5 near 9/10.

FC 26 is a 7/10.

I having 5 penalties in 8 matchs. I didn't expectig that before starting the beta.
On FUMA, legend, the game is really competitive.

The cons :

Sometimes, ballspeed on pass at night is too high
No sexy menus : too dark and FUT like
Some strange animations of running with some long players like Osimhen
Still some skating
Some visual ghosting
Cutscenes not at constant 60 fps on PS5 Pro
Interviews are only text
The CPU shoots too early sometimes without defender near it
Good to hear positive things, mate! Just a quick question on pass speed. Does pass speed still need to be set quite low? I used most of your sliders for FC 26 & I got used to the low pass speed (16 or 17 pass speed, I think) What was your setting in the beta? Appreciate your feedback!

That's your experience and I respect that.

But FC has always many ways to play. Playing on competive, on authentic, on tactic, on Dynamic, the feeling changes.
Playing on FUMA, on FUTO, on semi, the feeling changes too.

I have seen ONCE this desactivation on my defender for a CPU attack in ALL my games (50-60 games)
ONCE. It was a bad selection in the middle of the field, it was France Vs Germany.
Haaland is a monster in real life and in the game so i can't imagine a 5"5 wins a air fight against him..

FIFA 20 middle was the worst to date : they didn't track back the player.
Even on FC 26, midfield was better.

Saying that there is no middle, hum, I have some doubts.
You can says you don't like it, it's arcade, there is sliding, no visual big changes, ok, no problem.
What's your settings?

Pressing this year is more natural because the players are well placed on the pitch.
I played Authentic mode vanilla 7 full matches on Legend with different teams and different levels : to 2 stars to international teams.
The CPU will made a foul to stop you in many cases.

I'm waiting for 18th or 25th of september to read people feeling about the retail version.
Videos didn't lie.
For now it's only words.

No, it was a surprise. At 16 /17 the ball will go at 1 or two meters. I try my FC 26 set and it didn't work at all. Between 30 and 40 this year.

Other good surprise : with a low acceleration like 47 and a speed at 33-34, stamina is great, no bugged since many years. You have to make change in your team in your match.
So you can have a slower game with more fouls than FC 26 with more injuries

Yeh the mode is brilliant, the way you get injuries and need to manage your squad is one of the best I've experienced in memory.

I'm purchasing PC only for the first time ever, hoping the mods and gameplay patches/sliders can really bring it to life 🙏

Not much more. Core gameplay is better but a lot of what has changed seems to be away from our ability to edit.
Are you sure? I've been looking through the Gameplay Attribulator files, and there are a lot of new parameters related to animation and locomotion. There's even a folder called "Animation Quality vs Responsiveness."
These, in addition to the raw animations feeling much more elegant and grounded, are really sparking my interest in this new interaction.
I've been modding FC26 for the last few months after feeling that I had reached the ceiling with FC25, but I never published anything from it. I might do so, because I've achieved incredible results in terms of how enjoyable the overall experience feels. I was even thinking about publishing the project so that everyone could see what I did to achieve a much more lively, natural, and enjoyable experience. But seeing these gameplay modding vampires going around trying to profit from developments that don't belong to them, while lying and overselling features, makes me reluctant to give away any piece of my knowledge.
However, despite being quite happy with what I've achieved, there is one thing that still feels like a thorn in my side: the way the CPU behaves when you're trying to take it on 1v1. It has this robotic, almost telekinetic behaviour. Thankfully, from what I've played of FC27, the CPU takes a totally different approach when defending against a dribbler. It feels much more human, like it has the initiative to tackle and protect space in the way a real person would. It allows you to toy with it by using your body angle and movement. In FC26, by comparison, dribbling is mostly a matter of who reacts quicker, and I tried hard to sort that out, but nothing worked.
The other big issue with FC is the man-marking behaviour once players get close to your goal area, with players chasing each other around like crazy chickens and defenders seemingly ignoring the existence of the offside rule. I think there's now a toggle in the FC27 files to disable that behaviour.
With all that said, I can't wait to get my hands on FC27 and start tweaking it. But, on the other hand, I feel like I'm immersed in this modding bubble where you can't stop trying to push the experience further, yet you never end up having enough time to actually enjoy the game. And just when you reach a really satisfying point, a new release comes onto the market with enough interesting changes to pull you into starting the whole process again.

That's way a new set of animation is needed. Using the same animations as competitive ruin everything.

The AI is still passive. It ruins the game for me, even on Ultimate difficulty in career mode. They just don't attack, they don't take advantage of bad user positioning, zero quick progression of the ball, too much slow dribbling and not exploiting space.

FC IQ is also just horrible, so rigid in terms of player positioning, both in and out of possession.

It's a shame because career mode, from what I played, looked in good shape. The dynamic OVR is a welcome addition and the transfer market seemed the most realistic it has ever been, albeit with a few moves that raised an eyebrow but this could be due mainly to an outdated DB.

Probably mods can fix this. But also, I don't know if there are mods yet for FC27, I suppose that the community still has to decodify the whole SDK of the game.

I know there a lots of things that are wrong with this game but this bums me out the most and ruins the game for me. I can eventually get use to the twitchy/slidy animations but where's the fun when there is literally no challenge? How are more people having any challenges playing against this CPU?

There's a really worrying amount of talk from the Authentic guys about how their mode and sliders exist for people to make the exact game they want, because everyone has different preferences.

While that's true, what currently exists is just so far from a realistic, fun experience (and it's not just poor animations ruining it, which is another thing they seem to believe, but gameplay foundations being completely designed for the Competitive crowd) - that I think talking about sliders is like talking about the wind effects, or the ball deformation... i.e. completely unimportant and missing the point.

they truly are clueless. It's so infuriating that these people have a monopoly on the main licenses. It's always the consumer that gets screwed

I am getting results by setting the sliders in favor of the cpu, about 1point in acceleration and at least 2 in sprint speed. Together with a line height at about 65 as well as marking and aggression on max i barely win a game and get a quite satisfying amount of midfield play.

Sliders can't fix the fullback not joining the attack or going past the middle third of the pitch, even with FB positioning set to 99. Sliders can't make the defensive line go past the center circle to serve as support to the attack.

There are bugs to the fundamentals of the game and there are bugs to the video game part. If it were up to me, watching video of someone playing the beta [not me], seeing the goalie parry a 100mph shot that ends up two feet in front of him, or another that shoots off the post only to stay 10 feet in bounds...is a bug.

I can't see how someone could play more than 1 game of the beta without noticing these fundamental issues. Or simply watching it at seeing there is no soul in it.

I've said it in here before, but if the devs listen at all - go sit in a room, real life broadcast games on one screen, another screen has the 27 beta - no Acceptance Criteria in the JIRA - and just create what you see. Not what you see from Real Madrid, Barcelona or Man City - no, what you see from the lowest level teams because you strip away all that extra crap so you can actually isolate what is right or wrong with the fundamentals of the sport you're trying to represent.

I'd like them to play their older games and get them to see what they used to stand for.

Football was the fundamental, now it's just a cash cow product cosplaying as a football game.
