EA SPORTS FC 27

Quote from the Career Mode devs (source):

Dynamic OVR was something we internally had on our mind for a while. Watching football you see so many things happening: a young kid being thrown into the first team and performing, a top star being in a slump he doesn't seem to get out of, some players who are just really steady performers while others basically have a roller coaster season. There are so many factors playing into how a player is on match day. So this has been cooking in the heads of our designers for a while and I can't wait for people to see the Deep Dive and read the Pitch Notes to know more about it.

As for Transfers I think everyone knows that this is high on the communities wishlist and also was something we knew we want to tackle with a real overhaul and not just some fixes. Again what all of that contains, what your negotiation options are, how we guarantee better player values and more in the upcoming Deep Dive and Pitch Notes.

For the next few days I will be travelling but still will read feedback and answer if I find the time.

Can't wait for everyone to see the rest we have been working on.

according to fifaplay.com (if they're right) EA will be rotating the teams throughout the year that are available to play as in kick off mode in the lite version :(

that's a shame but better than nothing I suppose. If they confirm I'll also get authentic 2.0 included then I'll still consider it a win

I asked Andreas Wilsdorf whether the CPU team in EA FC 27 has an understanding of the match context. For example, does it realize whether it is playing a first-leg match, a second-leg, or a single-elimination knockout game? Does it have an understanding of the result to react tactically?

He didn't give me a direct answer. But even from his response, we can infer that they have worked on the issues I pointed out and resolved them. At least until the Deep Dive and Pitch Notes are revealed, we can stay hopeful.

One of my absolute biggest pet peeves is when you're winning a first leg say 5-0, you start the second leg, the AI scores to make it 5-1 and they celebrate like they've scored a world cup winning goal. Or even a league game, you're winning 2-0, 70th minute the AI pulls a goal back, and again celebrates like they've won the world cup, this kind of celebration for a "getting back into the match" goal just doesn't happen in real life and IMO it's completely inexcusable to be in the game.

This "feature" was available in FC 24 beta or FC 25 beta (i cant remember). It was then not happening after 1 or 2 patches and I havent seen it since...

Another interesting Career Mode quote on reply to a concerned FC player on Twitter - which, again, just makes me hope that the gameplay can meet this level (source):

(@Topaz, you mentioned balancing previously - sounds like they are aware of these issues and have worked towards a better solution.)

Regarding the topic of Form and Performance. The way we are doing it now has never been done in any Fifa or FC game and also not in any sports game I have seen. It is a new system and not just boosts or somehting we had before under a different name. And yes there is many factors playing into how OVR will rise and fall, potential will be part of it and other things. I think when you read the pitch notes and watch the deep dive it will be very clear.

You won't see extreme unrealistic boosts. If a young player gets a boost it might more be around the topic of: oh he is having a match where he shows his full potential, but also might be more volatile to not show it.

We exactly don't want what you said about the team full of 90+, which is exactly why we are building this system. We are doing a lot of testing, have done multiple playsessions with Career Mode players and more to make sure this feels natural and balanced.

I will quote one of our design council members: When you first introduced it as a concept I wasn't sure what to think, but now I get it, it changes Career Mode.

And that is the feedback we have seen from basically everyone so far who has tried it. Again not trying to overhype it, but we are very proud of this system and the design team has done a great job regarding the balancing.

When I see clips like this - where the ball contacts drive the animations and AI, and can change your decisions moment-to-moment...

...rather than the outcome being immediately pre-determined (e.g. a pass reaching a player) and the ball being "painted in afterwards" (which you can "feel" being faked with the controller in your hand, when the input and outcome don't match)...

...I do think this is the future. Game code built on the physics up.

But I think that might be years away, if EA ever even decided to try and make something that truly took advantage of modern hardware.

Compare that to the animations/physics in The Grounds (and for a bonus, check out the comments and realise *everyone* is sick of this):

Right after watching the trailer, it was the same sensation of being born and dying (stuck in a loop) where the same cinematic keeps repeating, causing discomfort and the need to find an explanation for EA FC 27, which is the same as 26, 25 and 17.

It's clear that I can't evaluate the gameplay that will be for the future, if I survive until then...

But it seems the biggest novelty will be the open world.
I wonder how I'm supposed to have fun looking at these character models, pulled straight from the depths of the Dark Web. How does the art department, EA's designers, develop something of such terrible quality?

A large part of the content from this mode could have been added to Career Mode. Like allowing the customization of kits, banners, logos something actually useful that exists in football. Being able to export and import (creating a wide network of communication with other people). Who knows, maybe even letting others access your profile to show support or express criticism.

I think that would truly be a leap forward. Anyway, this is just my opinion.

May be joke
May be not
I am not sure
I am forgot

Sad, that now in many forums "battles with words" between users will be replaced "battles with using AI-generated content".
In some cases - some users of different forums still "learnt something useful for life" from such "word battles".
P.S. Even this "feature of alive man" (where he can use possibilities of his brain) now was given to modern AI systems ...

Yeah but then you have Gerd calling me an angry poster ;)

These AI images are disturbing the heck outta me. Not because they are AI, just because they are freaky as f**k

Weren't in FIFA 06-07 your goal celebrations would look exactly like that? As in the players would just grab the ball and rush towards kickoff because they don't have any luxury to celebrate?

And in 07 onwards, when CPU scored too many goals, instead of showing CPU celebrations, the game would instead show your team being depressed and all that.

Was a cool detail to overall presentation.

I had submitted comprehensive feedback to the development team regarding the CPU's lack of tactical awareness of match context in league fixtures, first- and second-leg ties, and single-elimination knockouts, as well as its unawareness of which minute of the match is currently being played. I submitted this feedback through EA's official portal and official Discord. I hope the development team has implemented at least a part just a portion of this feedback and applied some of my suggestions into the game. I know there are many other communities and users around the world sending very thorough and quality feedback to the development team. We will have to wait and see how much attention the developers pay to this feedback and whether they incorporate parts of it into the game. We just have to wait and see.

Lack of Contextual Awareness and Tactical Adaptability in CPU AI

Additionally, for my own personal experience in EA FC 26, I designed and played with custom sliders specifically tailored for first- and second-leg matches as well as single-elimination knockouts. Of course, this was strictly for myself, and I didn't publish them anywhere. I designed and adjusted the slider settings for various teams based on real-world football data and actual team performances. I will share a few examples of my work with you.

Certain slider settings such as shot accuracy, pass accuracy, shot error, and the like .... should remain constant for all teams. However, you can see in the images the sliders that I believe need to be customized for each team.

Honestly, I don't know how popular these slider settings I created would be among the gaming community specifically the custom slider setups for first- and second-leg ties and single-elimination matches which is why I only designed them for my own personal experience. I hope the CPU in EA FC 27 has at least a fundamental understanding of match context in two-legged ties and knockout fixtures, so there won't be a need for such varied slider setups.

Do you know this guy?

What's weird about this is that, on the Career Mode / Authentic teams, I know for a fact that there are a lot of football fans. Not just because they say they are - but it's clear when you are privileged enough to have the occasional piece of internal feedback shared with you, and you see notes that aren't a million miles away from what you see here.

I'm not saying this guy's a liar - I know very little. Maybe that's how it is on The Grounds side of things? Which would make sense, seeing as it's less about football and more about appealing to Fortnite players, right?

However - the more feedback I see from online players (see the comments to that "ground header" tweet I shared above), the more I so strongly believe that everyone wants a football game that feels like a football game now. Not just Career Mode players.

I even see them sharing clips from 16/17 and talking about "trajectories" and ball physics.

FC seriously needs a revolution, IMO.

At the very least - a game that feels like football shouldn't be locked away for offline play only. If I've bought a football game, it should be a football game by default, and arcade gameplay via a dedicated mode (like The Grounds). Not the other way around.

Realistically we won’t get that revolution until a new generation, I expect that business is doing very well for them, and they just put a lot of effort in creating the grounds.

With FC26 I genuinely had more fun in career mode than I’ve had in a very long time, so while they’re not yet making me stop playing a modded PES21, I think they’re on the right track.

I can’t wait for the day when they redo player models and how the shirts look (efootball does this way better), and bring in real gameplay impact with players favoured foot. Seeing the FIFA 17 videos reminded just how much they got those things right, and how much it impacted gameplay.

Those two things I hated about the FC27 trailer, especially seeing players dribbling with their weak foot, and then using it to slam the ball into the far corner.

I went to the first ever E3 expo in Singapore in 2008, met some folks from EA, played whatever version of Fifa it was at the time, suggested to them they make things more organic in the game and gave them a great example, if you're playing at home and one of their players makes a bad foul gets booked the home fans boo that player for the rest of the match and cheer when he gets subbed off, not exactly hard to implement is it? Didn't happen :(

FC 27 Playtesting doesn't show up for me, is it not available anymore?
Looks like I got it, although I’m unsure if approved means I’m in, or they got my interest.

If I did, it’s because I filled it in as soon as @Chris Davies posted the link. My friend checked the day after and it was gone, so unfortunately think it’s filled up.

For those who got it, which region of the globe are you in? I have absolutely never had it in France all these years... I read that it was for the UK and US.
