EA SPORTS FC 27

Even PES 2019 abused the low crosses a lot. Maybe they fixed it in later datapacks. 2017 is the one I remember having loads of attacking variety
Low crosses in PES 2019 were fixed with the latest patches/datapacks. PES 2017 was on hybrid engine on PC and this is why I can't recommend it. I'm playing 2019 with DLSS 5 and it's gorgeous in every aspect.

I played Fifa 14 with a friend last weekend (beat him 6-0 but that's beside the point). I don't often revisit old football games outside of PES 2021. What struck me most was the freedom you had in these games to construct attacking moves. It felt like the shackles had been taken off.

How have we gone this far backwards?

Is it me or the tackling system in this game feels like you are playing like FIFA 98/99 where you go close to the attacker and just immediately steal the ball 100% of the time like a magnet? I swear tackling/auto tackling had major regression starting from FIFA 23 and this year, it's the worst i have ever seen. It's like a boolean logic whether you get the ball or not. Tackling attributes don't matter, inertia doesn't matter, leg positions doesn't matter. No physics or anything. Just a simple condition statement, if defender is less than distance, steal ball.
Like I said in my early videos of playing "authentic", it is 100% the worst "feature" of the entire game. Considering the people who play Ultimate Team are all about "skills over attributes" and "1v1 me bro", this has zero skill at all. It seems theyve kept it like this because the game at the top of UT is all about using skills moves and they are so fast that the only way to tackle is running into them or being run into by a mistake of the possessor. This is just very poor gameplay design at its finest.

If it's possible, can someone who's enjoying the game a lot upload a video of a match? Just to see how people who like the game are playing it.
Of course.

So the game comes down to just basically spamming through balls to a running striker behind defenders standing on the same line like a table football set, Only for the striker to run into the six yard box with the ball where the GK is glued to his line waiting for a middle height shot in the corner of the net.

Then the full backs of course have no role in the game just passive positioning regardless of what happens in front of them, Even when you set the full back positioning to 99 and run frequency to 99 they never move and are attached to the defense line.

All crosses and high passes are floaty and the ball feels like a balloon all the time despite the sliders that make no difference.

Fouls will disappear by the next 2 patches, All AI teams will play the same way and FC27 will continue the legacy of EA of producing this trash that cannot be saved with hundreds of sliders and gameplay options

Early days of the game release I said here I'll have to get it for my kids. A week ago I convinced them to download PES 2019 from our Steam account. Set up the option file and everything there and guess what: They're in shock. I can't see them going back to EA. I watched them play and right away I noticed they were adapting to a more sim style of playing and their attacks were more organic.
That said, if the user is provided with some fundamentals of the sport he will abandon eventually the bad habits created by bad products. Most people watch football. Given the opportunity they will try to recreate in the videogame what they're watching irl.

Today I realised I had 8 hours of my trial remaining so i thought I'd look up some sliders and give it a second chance

I really dislike these game developers, if they all lost their jobs I'd smile

Just some random thoughts, not all that constructive

The game cheats and reads your inputs like a cheap old SNK fighting game. If you go to do a Cruyff turn the game already knows you've inputted that command so the defender will go to that new direction before you've done the action. No wonder it feels like momentum doesn't matter now

The game logic knows what a foul is if it involves a sliding tackle, any other coming together it hasn't got a clue. i'd take pes 5 refereeing over this shit

Legacy defending is completely broken, I suspect they might have done this to push you to the new system. The alternative is they're incompetent which is probably more likely

I have no idea which sliders work and which don't but I can say with certainty that the skill move slider has zero effect, putting it all the way down to one and they still do them constantly (in the most inappropriate moments like being through on goal)

The game forgets my button configuration every new game or whenever I restart the game, how shit like this gets through testing is crazy

These game developers don't deserve to have jobs. They make me want to pirate the game to not play it just to get some petty revenge

Edit, I used to go to tesco at midnight on release day or order from shopto on the off chance that I'd get to play early. EA have completely ruined the yearly football game experience. What they've done is bordering on criminal. They are the gaming developers equivalent of the Glazers

A footy game should introduce ways in which patterns of attack are successful based on one or two attempts - and not each of them leading to goal scoring opportunities. Professional players, teams, structures are too good and too high level quality to allow this kind of breakdown to happen consistently in a match, let alone a string of matches. This is how variety exists.

In FC27's current state, the way the CPU attacks the user, and the way the User can attack the CPU - is currently set up as attempts of the same patterns...over and over again. Some team tactics and roles are forcing this, while some are CPU Sliders and some are just downright issues with the game's balance of challenge vs reality.

The gameplay team doing what they're doing with the upfield pressure is something that has to be respected and encouraged. We haven't had a iteration of the game like this. Something makes me feel they're holding back in other areas. Maybe that's by the strong statement of not changing the out-of-the-box gameplay, or maybe trying to make everyone happy at their levels, match minutes or something else.

Amen to every single word of this. I feel so sorry for young people now. They just get the soulless digital delivery and the ultimate shite at the end of it all.

Take away the licences and game modes, would people even play this if it was a free to play game? It might sound stupid, but if I experienced this gameplay on a free to play game I wouldn't ever touch it again

licenses are the only thing they've got going for them. The fact that they've pretty much got a monopoly on them for the foreseeable future is heartbreaking

Nice!

Where can i find your slider settings?

Until EAFC get meaningful realistic gameplay competition, there will not be anything like we wished for.

I’ve literally given up playing football games and only when something far better comes along will I return…..that could be beyond ps7 at this rate!
There will be no PS7

You will have Google Stadia 2 and only able to play the game via internet connection with minimum 100ms of latency and game will become unplayable after 2 years when licenses expire.

So I played 6 hours of the trial and had absolutely zero fun. I bought every iteration of FIFA/FC, since PES is gone I even bought the EA games on day one, but at this point they have completely lost me.
The game is simply not designed for offline gamers and I'm not willing to invest my limited playing time in the sliders to make this mess of a game slightly less shit. Not to speak of all the bugs, the old ones they carry over from one iteration to the next one, and all these new ones in the career mode. I know the career mode team is looking after them, but in my old fashioned opinion I think they should have sorted their things out before releasing a game, not afterwards.
I downloaded efootball again a few days ago and the gameplay is lightyears ahead. I'd rather play those pointless friendly games with the same few teams in the same few stadiums over and over again than waste my time (and money) with FC.
Sorry for being grumpy, I am happy for everyone who enjoys this game, but I'm out.

Sorry for being grumpy
This is genuinely how I feel, I feel guilty almost.

But a game where the physics are this bad (PS2 bad) is not a game I can understand anyone praising, though I wish I could enjoy it.

It's 2026, is this seriously the gold standard?

And posts like this have a point, right? And this is just surface-level stuff, let alone the fundamentals.

Hi

Would you mind giving me next weeks lottery numbers?

Thanks in anticipation 👍
