EA SPORTS FC 27

For the record, stuff like this is awful and I feel like part of the reason it's impossible to get feedback taken seriously is because of this bullying culture.

There is a line; calling out the UI for being "gloomy" just seems like negativity for clicks to me - what, you want the AI to burn your retinas? And personally, I love the transfer UI based on a mobile phone. That adds authenticity.

The fact that calling out gameplay issues (which can be clearly evidenced through EA's own material) could be considered the same level of "toxic" because of how common this is makes me so frustrated.

Nobody should insult anybody over a game.

It’s why I’m not on any social media. For as much good it can produce it’s tainted by twice as bad in my opinion. The new social court system where people are condemned for an opinion and then it pours in to being personal with terrible insults. I like this forum, but this and AV Forums are the only ones I use and more so as a browser. I left SM 5 years ago and never been happier tbh!

I’ve so little interest in 27, it just looks pretty much the same as 26. If they can get authentic mode to be……errr…well….authentic then it might be worth a purchase.

I'm the only one who hates grass in EA FC games (or graphic design as overall)? Idk why but for me it feels so off, in older FIFA 17-19 it wasn't an issue

Every year I rear my head in this thread, genuinely hoping this might be the year I can get my hands on a modern day football fix.

I have just caught up with the deep dives on career and gameplay. I might get criticised for this, but I feel like EA are making a genuine attempt to engage with fans and be as transparent as possible regarding the changes they have made. Career mode has certainly received closer attention over the last few releases.

One line that stuck with me though during the career deep dive was how they are striving for better ‘immersion’. The problem here, for me, is that this comment came after highlighting several features away from the core gameplay. You can build the most fantastic career mode ever but true immersion will only be achieved if what we see on the pitch is a better and more refined experience.

Give me the most basic career mode or ML possible if it means we finally get a solid product on the pitch.

My fear, having seen the gameplay deep dive, is that some of the physics and movements still seem so unnatural to me. The piece on manual defending looked promising but again, the defending and physics of the interceptions just felt off. Likewise with the advanced dribbling.

I do genuinely think it is heading in the right direction but again, it does not feel like a major step change at the moment. The addition of additional sliders and a possible enhancement to Authentic Mode could be promising. I’ll hold off making a full judgement for now.

As a side note, the net physics still wreck my head. Talking about immersion, nothing kills it more than the net jumping around like a Sumo wrestler just nose dived into it after an 8 yard tap in (possible slight exaggeration).

That makes it sound like he's a top-level guy now, but according to his LinkedIn (click here) he's still in the gameplay team.

While researching this, I discovered Gary Paterson (who worked on some of the best FIFA gameplay I experienced under producers David Rutter and Simon Humber) now works for 2K according to his LinkedIn (click here).

David Rutter himself has retired (click here). :(
Let me make a correction: Sam Rivera is the Executive Producer.
At least when it comes to gameplay design, starting from FC 26 (or maybe FC 25?), Sam Rivera's influence has been gradually declining.

I think at least the frontline developers understand football and are working hard to improve the gameplay. It's just that the leadership controls the overall development direction (catering to UT user and light user), which limits what the developers can achieve.

We have also seen that Roles can sometimes feel too strict in gameplay, so in FC 27 we are introducing Attacking Spatial Awareness to help players recognize open space more naturally and make more decisive runs in attack. This means players will be better able to take advantage of the space in front of them, rather than always sticking to their positions and Roles.

From the FUT deep dive. It sounds good but why not something like this for defense too?

Translation: "AUTHENTIC Gameplay 2.0 #FC27 Much more realistic player movements, the players' movements have been adjusted to feel firmer and more physical, without losing responsiveness."

"Much more realistic"...

I've left myself be fooled again.

What i always fail to understand is why they make players duck to move the ball around. Real players carry the ball in full vertical position, unless they are trying to trick a direction as in "doing a trick".
Pes2021 got this right.

!!! MODDED FC26 (not FC27) !!!

When I see clips like this, it does make me think FC is capable of having some pretty good gameplay (even before TRACAB is introduced).

But how do we get EA to make it look like this? The extra sliders are there to help, but 1) I wish it was like this without our efforts, and 2) I think we'd need a lot more than just "tackle frequency" etc... I think mods like this are more reliant on this like walk/jog speed changes for a start.

Those lil hamster legs are adorable! Scampering for the ball and such.

Slowing down the running and passing (like in this clip) makes it seem somewhat more realistic, by reducing the teleporting, sliding, impossibly fast movement.

Like anything, just a few short clips won’t tell the whole story. A full game would be more demonstrative.

So I said I'm not going to watch this because it has Rivera in it - and I haven't - but this clip from Twitter appeared on my feed.

If he thinks people are playing the old games purely because they feel "fresh" (and not because they feel better, with better fundamentals)...

And worst of all, he thinks FC26 is better because it's the "most responsive"...

...how do we ever escape this?

Just because he's wasting an influential position doesn't mean he's right, that's just his opinion

It's like saying there's no value in alternative music and people only listen to it because it's different and not because it's actually good...

Well in both cases it's hardly a small sample size, it's a large percentage of people who play older football games still, so what - we're all wrong and don't know what we really want any more than the FUT and online screamer streamers?

For the gameplay mod, you can pay for early access to the Alpha, but once the mod is finalized, it becomes free. As for the one in the video, I believe that is a paid add-on, yes.

The HyperMotion V does have some value. Without it, you could never get that many famous players to do motion capture – the cost would just be too high.

That does not look good buddy and I have no idea why people still keep mentioning this "tracab" thing, EA didn't even say a word about it. But if that gameplay looks good to you than you have been playing FC games too long and it's gotten a good hold on you

I’m really hoping what we saw in the deep dive (footage and pitch notes) is more of a disconnect between the people putting together the media releases and the developers rather than a disconnect between the developers and its authentic audience.

Tine will tell! I remain a little bit optimistic, even if I’m not expecting a major leap forward I’m still thinking we will see improvements over regression.

Why is it that these threads turn into a comparison with mods or other games so quickly? We haven't even played the beta yet.
Fair. Likely desperation on my part. :D

It is always like that with annual FC/FIFA release : by default, it's bad.
People saying that it's not that bad : they are paid by EA or they are lying.

I hope this year will be different. It will be a big fail if the gameplay is not good enough to appreciate the career mode with massive tweaks this year.

Yesterday, even FUT gameplay trailer, the gamespeed was slower than usual. I hope it's a good sign!

The elephant in the room is the updates, in theory EA could release the best football game ever made and within two weeks, once all the online players negative feedback roles in it, can be changed to the worst.

Authentic is a separate thing, though. So any changes made to appease that crowd (who don't really know what they want, I'm convinced - you see a lot of love for the older games from these guys and how it magically feels "better" and thinking it's something to do with "responsiveness" instead of it being a much better balance between defence and attack) - shouldn't apply to us.

I believe there was at least one incident with FC26 where a change *did* apply to "Competitive" and "Authentic" when it shouldn't have, so it's not impossible. But, well, you have to hope.

Love to see this, and love the response from one of the Career Mode devs. This gives me hope for the future (unfortunately I don't know how far in the future, but)...

I particularly love the line (which is cut off in the preview below): "I do think a lot of Competitive players seek [this] game", which I'm taking to mean "a game where the best strategist wins".

Semi-related - a clip from FIFA 14 (next-gen edition) I've seen doing the rounds. I would be interested to get Sam Rivera's take on this. I have to be frank; I don't see a single way in which FC's gameplay is better.

Translation: "You guys are truly crazy to prefer an extremely fast game over this."

That career mode dev won't last long, I sense he's in the honeymoon period. Either he will be seen as a dissenter within EA, or he will get so pissed off at them implementing absolutely nothing that he wants. Hope I'm wrong!

It always nice to see the young generation appreciate our old games. Sometimes they think we have bad memory when we said the games were better before and more difficult.
But it's damned real.
Few motion capture but the feeling is damned amazing.
Yes it's hard but the pleasure to score was insane!
I want this feeling with modern technologie. It's a dream I know...

I'm sure this won't happen in Authentic (I mean, it'd be crazy to manipulate gameplay like this if it did).

But even for Competitive... Could they really not think of a more realistic way around this? Like giving the opponent an extreme "aggressive pressing" option that essentially man-marks every player if the opponent is seriously taking the p...?

It feels like "forcing" things is the answer to everything with FC. Force the game to flow by making every deflection magnetise to a player; force "reward" by manipulating ball physics on tackles so that the ball sticks to your feet like glue; force goals by deleting more and more AI.
