YIkes, I still have 5 hours in my free ea trial and was waiting for more updates to get back to it, but at this point I think Im just gonna uninstall... this doesnt look good at all... shame

The fact that there is an audience that actively seeks that "gameplay" - which has zero relation to football - is just proof if proof were needed that it'll never be an enjoyable game to football fans until it either splits into two games, or some millionaire with a dream decides to take a chance on making a football game that isn't just FUT Clone #5.
I hadn't touched the game for months. Decided to try the new update to see what the fuss was about
Beat Napoli 12-0 with Juventus on 10min World Class difficulty.
Yeah, I had to endure 20min to see how many goals I would score by spamming the ball in the box. And EVERY SINGLE GOAL I scored were the same. Ughh. Give Vlahovic the ball. Turn around and shoot. Guaranteed goal.
Deleted the game. Will only buy the next iterations if simdheads here suggest it on this site. If I ever see a realistic football game in my life.lol
NBA 2k and sim racing games scratch the itch for now.

No haven't. Use precision shooting but will try this.. So many different combinations of buttons needed to do things on this game. Thank you for the feedback pal. Will use it when I next play

I've downloaded this tool. If anyone wants to provide more details of how to use that tool, i would appreciate that. I've tested it and when i download update_1 and ""launch" the game through this tool EAapp starts to download the latest update.
maybe you should download TU you want and then you sure have to stay offline, other it will download the latest Update again.
I always have a Backup of the previous TU, so i play TU7 now.
Maybe try it this way :
- let game Update to TU8
- copy whole TU8 Game folder
- restore with the tool to another TU
- Backup this restored game folder
- start Steam/EA App when the TU8 folder is "active"
the game then wont update.
- dont close EA/Steam and rename the active TU8 to whatever and rename the other TU Folder to the normal named folder
- start game and play old TU
- when you are read and close the game just rename the 2 folders again, so that steam for its next launch has the latest TU8 folder inside

It works! I picked TU2 and it's night and day with version 8... I can't believe how stupid they made the AI in this TU8

I have the first Version of the Trial Version of the Game on my drive, and I just played it out of curiousity last week. It is the only Version which I can play the default Gameplay without the feel to have a Gameplay Mod installed for some good. Feels more grounded, not so hectic and overpowered. I am not lying but the AI crosses 2 times in a single 2x6 Min. Match into my box instead of dribbling into my box from the wings.
I´ll do now the default Gameplay Test for TU 8. But not without the safety to have TU7 stored on my drive as well.
I'm on console and I didn't play the vanilla game. But I didn't see this speed on my career mode, and I have many 0-0 or 1-1, never seen crazy fest goals like 6-2 or 7-4 on legend.
The game is not perfect but we can have decent matchs easily.
PC version seems different than Xbox series/PS5 version. More speed.
FUT speed is a bad joke😅

This game is unplayable on PC.
Thought I was going mad, but yeah, EA have patched IN stuttering since Mid-November and refuse to acknowledge it.
Checked forums/reddits and so many with hardware that exceeds mine saying the same... the game stutters. I'm on a 4070 equipped laptop with a pretty damned good AMD processor, and 32gb of DDR5 RAM. This machine should breeze through EAFC.
But no.
I'm just relieved I am not going mad.
What an absolute disaster class EA are. This stutters on PC, Dead Space stutters on PC, Jedi Suvivor stutters on PC, and ZERO acknowledgement the issues exist.
I look forward to 2035 when the processor exists that brute forces through the stuttering on EAFC25.

Don't know if you or anyone else plays emulators but those two vids look more or less *exactly* like what overclocking an emulator, evenly slightly, does to some games. EVERYTHING is on fast forward there.
If that is EA's patch it is truly tragic stuff.
I mean, it is too bloated a game now for them to cater to mine and other folks in this forums tastes I dare say, but if they are going to speed the game up due to fan demands at least put some effort in beyond adjusting the "Increase game speed" slider in the dev tools, lol.
EA is giving us what people want. New generation's players don't look for a deep and realistic gameplay,but for something that spike their dopamine.
When they play online,i know for sure, they don't look for have fun, but they look for win, makes opponents ragequit it's the most satisfaction thing (in their mind).

Omg Someone tell me what this even is?? And also these comments in the video about how great the gameplay is and how smooth it is after the patch... And it's an unfortunate comparison to FIFA 14... I perfectly understand that not everyone wants a simulation, but how the hell can anyone like such a gameplay in 2025 ?? Regardless of whether someone is looking for realism or not. This is terrible. I understand that most players are FUT players and prefer arcade gameplay, but there are limits to decency. FIFA wasn't usually a simulation, but it was a good arcade game. Now this is just a bad game regardless of play style

This is another major issue - you play the 10-hour trial, you decide to buy the game and within months it's not the same game.
How - seriously - is there no way (at least offline, and in custom online games with friends) to select which gameplay version you want to use?
How are you forced into playing something that is categorically worse if you actually play/watch football? There's a "sim mode" for those of us who want that, and even that's worse thanks to these changes. How is it okay?
The NHL games let you pick which gameplay version you want to use (last time I played it, anyway) - alongside having twice the number of sliders (not that sliders are powerful enough to make this game anything close to a football experience, in my honest opinion).

Is there a general consensus now that Simulation mode is actually only a slider set? Or is this still debated?

It might do more under the hood but when you select simulation mode it just changes a load of sliders.
thats exactly what happened to me.i played the the pc demo i kinda liked it and bought the game on discount.now im desperately searching and trying gameplay mods to make the game playable again

Two things...
1) Yes, it's those "people's fault" - except, this time, EA put a "sim mode" in for football fans.
So whatever those FUT players want... It shouldn't impact us. But it has.
2) If I'd bought the game to play "sim mode", and then they wrecked it like this... I would be, to put no finer point on it, absolutely fucking furious. It's pure-and-simple taking my money and then taking away what I'd paid for.
I'm not sure I can trust them again after this.
My intention was not to defend EA...but make games cost a lot of money these days. New graphics engine,license...i bet FC cost a lot. So i think they don't want to risk much doing some brave game design choices which would make us happy but majority of players upset.
If only players instead complain how slow is the game,how hard is passing etc...start to complain about how much nosense the gameplay Is with 1vs1 core,bad ball physics,innatural speed etc. Maybe,one day, football games will be back. But complains should comes from majority of players not only from Evoweb users..
While it was a different time, what I will say about say a classic PS2 PES is that although they were 'fast', they were actually pretty tactical. More importantly I'd say is that in those games it was a case of every one on one or decision being very much "Rock, Paper, Scossors", It *is* simplistic you could argue, but it simply worked, in large part due to gameplay balance and of course player individuality.
Guess that is a long way of me saying that 'fast' *can* be okay, brilliant even. But boy oh boy do you need to get the gameplay design and mechanics almost perfect. I wouldn't say the classic PES games were perfect by any stretch, but they essentially made a simulation 'feeling' game from what could be compared to a perfectly crafted 2D fighting game. Those fighting games are bloody fast, but are designed so well and possess so much depth time seems slow downs as you get better. I honestly can't say that about EAFC or eFootball.
I just find both EAFC and eFootball to be too 'wooly' in both mechanics and design these days, so all that turbo charged pace to proceedings makes it feel so much more imprecise, buggy, and ultimately frustrating. You start to notice the speed because of the failure points in key areas.

Said before that I believe gameplay updates/changes should be banned. Almost feels unlawful. If a developer releases a game that's shite and full of bugs, well, don't release a game that's shite and full of bugs. And stick to your initial creative vision instead of parting your arse cheeks for idiots who - in time - would align to your vision because they have to, for views.

Just to double-down on this "the game will be unplayable for us until it splits in two" point:

"It felt like playing an AI sim" (before the patch) ... brother, if that's how it actually felt, I'd be the happiest guy on earth.
"To have fast, responsive, high-skill gameplay" (now) ... where's the skill when you're playing fully-assisted rocketball and when defenders run away from you? How are these players so deluded?
It's a twitch-shooter in football clothing - and the REAL killer for me is, I SERIOUSLY doubt that's what the majority want - this fast, "fun" on-rails high-scoring mega-boring experience that bears no relation to the thing it's supposed to be. Just a dumbed-down super-fast mobile game.
But, let's be honest here, the kids want it - the kids who give EA the vast majority of their earnings - and the kids watch these YouTubers, and the YouTubers tell them what to want. So it's a vicious cycle.
It will never be a football game again, and it's time to face it I think.

Outside of splitting the game into 2, a realistic and very easy implementation for EA to help us out in the short term could at least be to give us an ‘assisted defending’ toggle. I don’t care if they call it ‘assisted’, but if they could just let us have this it would go a long way.
It would be so easy for them to do as well.
