According to rumours, Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund wants to buy EA. So let me get straight to my theory:
Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund gets everything in competitive sports and will buy EA. After buying EA, they will have a quick chat with their friend and FIFA President Infantino and buy the FIFA licence.
That way, they won't need to programme a new game, and Infantino will laugh at EA for not wanting to pay him licence fees.
I invite you to guess the new name of the game:
Based on the already known name, it will be called FIFA 27 or EA FIFA FC 27.
I’m still convinced it’s only a matter of time before EA gets the FIFA licence back. So it’ll be EAFC 28 or FIFA 28.
I reckon the deal (EA to PIF, followed by the deal with FIFA) has to be finalised first, and then it still needs to be programmed into the game. That’s why it’ll either be added later via an update or announced with a huge reveal in FC 28 (FIFA 28?).I’m a little surprised they didn’t pull out of the deal yet, like they did with LIV. Apparently the trillion dollars in the PIF is running out quickly?
Until the piece of human garbage Infantino is removed they should stay well away from it.
I can see it now... "Gianni FC 28"... "Be the first to play the new 128-team World Cup! Contains no UEFA license because those guys were super mean to me."I think they need to do the deal now whilst Infantino is still in charge as he absolutely loves the Middle East.
He will give them a better deal than the next guy, as long as he gets his share in a brown envelope.

"You're getting laid off because you're just numbers on a list. There's never understanding of the project."
"Morale has been terrible. The line we kept hearing is 'do less, better' but it just felt like we were doing the same amount with less people. Upper management was very excited about Claude and the possibilities of [generative] AI, much to the chagrin of my team."
For the largest game publisher in the western world, all of this is unfortunate to see. But for many within EA, the decline has been seeping in for a while.
Jared Kushner is one of the owners now. They don't mind pieces of human garbage over there.Until the piece of human garbage Infantino is removed they should stay well away from it.
People that will be able to make proper use of AI as a supplement but not replacement of their art will rise. Others who will just produce slop will definitely make profit but wont reach the same levels.I think the advent of AI democratizes the video game development process. Now anyone can make a game with a few clicks. Same is true for anyone who wants to make a song in GarageBand or a film in 4K on their phone. Truth is, most people don’t have the talent nor dedication to make something truly exceptional. Does this mean music and film are dead? It being easy to put out crap doesn’t mean everything needs to be crap. The cream will rise to the top.
As of now, 2K does not have the FIFA license. I don’t think it’s worth it for them, as it doesn’t really bring much to the game in a non World Cup year.I’ve noticed that, for me personally, the value of video games has been declining since the advent of AI. Just look at the 100 or so football manager games on Steam—it’s clear that the people behind them have no genuine passion for the genre, nor do they have any understanding of what constitutes a well-designed user interface.
I still believe that, under its new leadership, EA is systematically cutting everything that doesn’t generate profit, with the intention of using AI-generated "slop"—refined to a certain standard—to fill the gaps, all while aiming to re-secure the FIFA license. I’m not sure if 2K currently holds that license through their new studio, but I still suspect that EA might buy it back. Perhaps it’s just a matter of time.
All companies do that nowadays.EA is systematically cutting everything that doesn’t generate profit
I don't really see the reason for that. EA FC 26 with its generic World Cup mode performed surprisingly well, so these licenses wouldn't really help them earning more money.all while aiming to re-secure the FIFA license. It’s not about how much you receive. It’s about the fact that the owners of EA (the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia) are hosting the 3034 World Cup in Saudi Arabia. By the way, that’s going to be the best World Cup ever (lol). All companies do that nowadays.

It’s about prestige.
