Do not use a Logitech rumblepad 2...

I was experiencing the kind of unresponsiveness that has been mentioned by a few people on this forum, while playing 2010 with a logitech rumblepad 2. I couldn't keep my players going straight. I would frequently turbo out of bounds. I would lose the ball a lot because the player on screen would pass later than i wanted to.

Then I switched to using an official ps2 dual shock through usb adapter and everything changed. They definitely added weight to the players but the control and responsiveness were back to what I expected.

Im not sure if its an issue with the pad or the game but using a PS2 pad works well. Also note that I used the rumblepad 2 with the 2009 demo and i felt it worked as well as the ps2 pad did so perhaps this is an issue konami needs to work out.

So for those of you experiencing responsiveness issues, try playing the game with a ps2 pad.

I was using the logitech rumblepad 2 as well and found it difficult to adapt to the game.. every single new PES Demo is hard to adapt for me but it was harder this time..

so I switched to logitech chillstream (which has 360 degree analog stick, no corners) and all I can tell is, it's not magic but it works better.. I was finding it difficult adapting to the place of analog stick in chillstream but I think I must put in the effort now.. it's worth it..

The Chillstream is an excellent controller, but i find it's a bit too small and i keep catching the shoulder buttons by accident :(

Are you guys kidding? 360 controller is by far the best, not to mention the game was designed to use it!

The Chillstream is amlost identical to the 360 pad (i have 2 of those also),it's just a tad smaller ,but it does keep your hands cool while playing :P(sort of)

Oh and by the way i also have a dualshock ps2pad with the play.com adapater ,and it's utter pants :)

I've tried the PS3 pad today and you are right it is a little bit more responsive than the LR2. This is annoying really, as I love this pad and the drivers for the PS3 pad don't work with Windows 7. So I'm now having to use my PS3 pad with Windows XP.

I've also noticed that the PES 2010 demo runs a lot better in XP than in Windows 7. It's a lot smoother and less juddery. Also, I can play on a slightly higher resolution on high, with perfectly smooth gameplay than in Windows 7. Strange.

So, PES 2010 + Windows XP + PS3 Pad = perfect for me

On the PC?

Can't agree with that - the Xbox 360 pad is the best now.

Err, well, let me clarify. I really meant either or. The dedicated console controllers will always be superior. I've used many made-for-PC controllers in the past and they always have calibration problems, poor D-Pads and are just poorly constructed in general eg. buttons sticking, breaking and the analogue sticks coming out of their sockets. Not to mention that the sticks, especially with Logitech, are always very loose and innacurate.

So yeah, either PS or X-Box controllers FTW.

Always loved my old gamecube controller the most for the older pes games, very comfortable pad ,but they all got worn out and are pretty uselss now :(

yep , i am using ps2 gamepad also and i dont have any responsive lag problems.

it seems the responsive lag bug is specific

hope they dont turn the game more arcade :(

I really hate where they have the analogue sticks on the ps2 pad i have, (i've always played pes using analogue),i guess im just not used to it on the ps2 pad.

There really is no excuse for using anything other than a Playstation controller.

100% agreed jazek, that was until this demo was released.
I have always in the past been a d pad player and found that the old dualshock ps2 pad was by far the best, but the analogues are terrible (the sticks are slightly too long). So because of the 360 movement i have been using a xbox 360 controller and i must say for comfort and responsiveness this gets my vote.

Well I must admit, I've never played PES on a 360 controller before, though I do have 360, so I'm very familiar with it. I'll have to get myself a dongle soon to try it out. Like I said before though, my point was actually about using a console controller over a PC one, because they are more reliable and meant to last ;)

Which is better in terms of responsiveness and comfort?

Dualshock 2 with an usb adapter
or
Dualshock 3 with a mini-b usb cable

İ use Dualshock 2 with an usb adapter for years and i have no responsiveness issue but once one of my friends said that using X360 controller (cabled) on PC was far better than using Dualshock 2 with a usb adapter in terms of responsiveness. He was using both, but I don't know if he was right or not, cause i could never get used to X360 controller because of the position of its left analog stick. :(

So i will buy a DS3 if it is any better than DS2 for PC. But i also think DS3 on PC might not be so responsive as its drivers are not official and DS3 itself was not designed for PC use. Can you confirm that DS3 has a good responsiveness on PC, at least as much as DS2 with an adapter?

Wouldn't know myself, but I have avoided getting a DS3 for that very reason you mentioned - no official support. I've heard numerous reports about analogue problems with the drivers available, and they're a little pricey to take a risk on so I'll pass for now.

it works perfect for me. Rumblepad is in my opinion the best gamepad for the PC and I wouldn't change it for any other.

Hehehe i would agree with you but both my 360 pads are currently broken, and trying to fix them is a nightmare, one of them just suddenly switches to player 2 mode and stops responding as soon as it does, and the other is in about 400 pieces because i got pissed off with it when i tried to fix a faulty left trigger button, both started getting faulty within about 4 months.Other than that tho they are very comfortable and responsive ;)

I have a busted trigger button on one of my 360 pads too actually. Need to open it up soon and have a poke around. Still, that controller was fine for 2 years, and I'd probably attribute the problem to the multiple impacts it's had with my floor :D

Point being, while no controller will last forever, at least you wont be looking for a new one every few weeks like I found with Logitech. What's everyone elses' experience with them in general? I've never came across a more unreliable brand of pads, talking from experience with the Rumble and Dual Action. Saitek also make sub-standard pads I've found.

By the way, you might wanna try baby powder on sticking buttons. Make sure you get a fair ammount nicely packed in around the sides of it and leave it overnight. It's not always a winner, but I've had both temporary and permanent relief in the past with various pads by doing this. At the very least its a nice quick-fix when you're just itching for a match or two.

Be very careful when you open up that pad ,everything ,well almost everything is loose inside and seems to want to jump to freedom as soo as the last screw is out! :P

About logitech pads, the two i have owned over the years (the excellent wingman and the very good Chillstream ) have served me well, very infact,i only replaced the wingman because it started to become increasingle difficult to set it up in certain games, can't comment on the rumble pad 2 as i have never owned one,but logitech normally make very good hard ware that is reliable and of high quality.
