Rafa likes to rotate and depending on the opponent he adjusts accordingly, however judging near the end of last season he prefers Mascherano as the defensive midfielder. All I can say is we're lucky to have such a strong Midfield and add Lucas to the equation and there's a possibility in the coming years that we'll have the best midfield in the world.

definitely a badass midfield.

anyway if I were Rafa I'd drop bellamy and kuyt from the starting 11, always field Crouch as a target man, and field sissoko-alonso-mascherano in the middle.

btw I'd like to know a couple things:

1- can Agger play as a Left back? defensive left back of course, one that doesn't push forward too much.
2- is sissoko more of a DMF or CMF ?

Agger can play left back if needs be and Sissoko is more of a central midfielder I don't think he has the discipline to play as a defensive midfielder at the moment.

Think you post may prove a little, just how Collins is underrated by some.
James Collins was one of the best premiership defenders in the last 10 games of the season... easily in the top 5.

Anton Ferdinand is still overrated and there is a good chance he may move because of his terrible attitude.
There is also a chance that he may go to prison for fighting outside a club last year.

Upson will be back from injury and will no doubt be first choice so Curbishley will play more of a traditional centre back, who is great in the air (Collins) alongside him.
This is also the reason that he won't play Gabbidon (who is also better than Ferdinand) as he sees Gabbidon as more of a right back due to his height.

although it's very debatable which one of the 3 central midfielders should play DMF right in front of the defense, and it should probably be changed depending on the opposition.
also, gerrard and riise should swap positions every now and then in order to get the enemy defensive line confused, since they are both capable of running on the side and crossing for crouch as well as cutting towards the middle and shooting with great power, depending on the side they happen to be playing ATM.
