Hi everyone,
Old football games had a certain feel: the weight of a pass, the timing of a tackle. I'm trying to bring that feel back in a new game, and I need people who know it to tell me if I'm close.
Here is a 50-second look at the game:

What you can do in it so far
  • Play 11 v 11 with classic default buttons (you can change them), on a DualSense or a keyboard, alone or with a friend on the same machine.
  • Fouls, offside, cards, extra time and penalty shoot-outs.
  • Close dribbling, skill moves, headers, a tackle assist, a power gauge for shots, and penalty aiming.
  • AI levels, training, a league mode, a team editor, and goal replays from several cameras.
Developed on Unity. Compiled for macOS 26, tested on M2 chip.
The game is developed with AI, based on the source code of Gameplay Football by Bastiaan Konings Schuiling (public domain).
What I'd like to hear from you
  1. Which part of a match should feel right first: passing, shooting or defending?
  2. What did the classic football games do that new ones do not?

I'm working on gameplayfootball as well, I think the problem is that it needs the animation engine to be totally reworked. It is a very good game, a work of art, but in 2026 that game needs really new animations.
