Biggest thread in the football forum! - must be all our new plastic fans, which at a glance are me and Vann.

Anyone else going tomorrow? I'm expecting a tough game because whenever O'Leary brings a team to the Bridge, they try and kick seven shades out of us - tomorrow will be no different.

C'mon you Blues!

(And c'mon the Geordies tonight!)

Yes I must confess im a glory hunting plastic Dynamo Chelski fan  ;)

I saw Villa play Man City the other week and they we're decent in the first half then completeley fell apart in the 2nd, their away form is terrible but maybe they can get a decent result tomorrow (fingers crossed).

This is the team I hope does the business for us tomorrow:

Cudicini

Johnson
Terry
Gallas
Babayaro

Joseph Cole
Makelele
Lampard
Duff

Mutu
Crespo (or maybe Jimmy)

You really think Cole will get a start this time? I mean, I think he's deserved it, but you never know.

With the CL on Wednesday, Veron and Crespo will definitely play in that game, so I wouldn't be surprised to see either or both on the bench Saturday.

Joseph has to be due a start!

Well, he chose Veron over Cole - and Seba had a stinker! He was always well martialed and marked, he couldn't really create anything at all. I feel bad for him because by now, everyone knows he can't play in a midfield 4. Claudio still keeps throwing him in though, leaving Cole on the bench - the result being Veron is now the most unpopular player at the club.

Good work Ranieri.

Save Juan for Europe i say. Play Cole in the Prem games, particular against the Charltons, Boltons and Wolves. I want to see more of Cole, personally. This is where Ranieri often annoys me, in his squad selection and positioning. Sometimes i see the starting 11 and i just go arrggghhh!!! To be fair, for me, only 2-3 players have made a claim for their positions imo (Lampard, Mutu & Johnson, ok and Duff too). The kid Johnson is looking such an exciting prospect for both club and country. I'll say it, but i think he's better than Ashley Cole, because he can actually defend too. His dribbling is pretty good, anyone see that one move into the box he did against villa? ;)

Jimmy was very static on Saturday. Johnson and Petit were the only two who performed above 'mediocre' I reckon.

Not sure what to expect on Wednesday.

Yeah, especially after Besiktas won their last league game 5-0! I'm slightly worried...

They looked desperate against Lazio, but that was without a couple of their better players. Personally, I would expect us to turn them over, but not if we are going to play like we did on Saturday.

Turkish delight in piling pressure on Chelsea
By Neil Moxley, Daily Mail
30 September 2003

Chelsea have been warned they will be embarrassed by Besiktas tomorrow night if they do not improve on the weekend's stuttering show against Aston Villa.

The Turkish league leaders have told Claudio Ranieri's side they will have to play a lot better in the Champions League clash at Stamford Bridge to maintain their push.

Besiktas goalkeeper Oscar Cordoba said:'We know how to play against the English. The Champions League isn't the Premiership. Besiktas are better than three-quarters of the teams that play there and we will prove it. Chelsea have nothing to gain and everything to lose. I wouldn't rule out a surprise in London.'

The Colombian may be talking up the pressure on Chelsea, but midfielder Frank Lampard insists the star-studded squad can handle it.

Lampard said: 'There is no doubt that expectations have risen and everyone will expect Chelsea to be there or thereabouts, but that's exciting.'

You're shish, and you know you are, you're shish.....

Its so funny and predictable, just b4 every Euro tie some person, be it a manger or player says something derogatory about the other side in an attempt to unsettle them. It' so childish!! although, they are only footballers, their brains stopped growing at the age of 12 or nearabouts.

Terry, did you copy and paste that article from www.partiallysighted.co.uk/sport by anychance?

I see a few fans are unhappy with Veron, looks like he played the sort of game against Villa that we became accustomed to.

Wonder if Raneri still thinks that he is "the best midfielder in the world" saying that prior to Dynamo Chelski signing him, Ranieri listed his best Prem players in The Times and guess what Veron was no-where in sight.

I'm actually unhappy with Ranieri - it's not Veron's sort of game. I know that, you know that and Claudio surely knows that, but he played him instead of Joseph. Stupid.

Well its gonna be real hard for him to keep the players and fans happy.

Why the fook would you buy sooo many midfielders??
they arent doing to bad lately though and so far are still unbeaten...

Who do they play next weekend??

True, but do you think Veron was relishing getting a shoe-ing from the Villa players on Saturday morning? I think he'd have been happy to sit it out.

Boro away on Sunday.

Veron continues to baffle me, Ive seen him do some pretty remarkable things with the ball, but for a player of his stature skill and confidence it amazes me how awol he can go during a game, surely he must know that opposing players are gonna double / triple mark him yet he doesnt seem to have altered his game to accomodate that and with the depth of Chelseas squad in the midfield department youd think it would light a firework under a lazy players arse.

lol ive just been speaking to my mate up in Stockton-on-Tees he's well looking forward to the game, they reckon its the sort of game that Chelsea wont like, they could be right, but they could get five smash past em'...

Who's the game in hand against??

Terry what do make of the Notts County tie we have? This surely is not a game for the likes of Veron and Crespo. It's got to be Lampard, Cole and John Terry etc. Although i think Mutu could hack it, it might be a risk playing him.

I actually think it'll be Kneissl, Huth, Kitamarike and Nicolas. Probably Zenden, Stanic and Eidur too. Tickets are only £20 and it would be good to get a decent crowd 'cos a lot of the receipts will probably be going to County.

cant see them getting Zenden back from boro just for that game ;)

Terry, Zenden's at 'Boro don't forget. But yeah i can see Huth getting the call, and Eidur and Stanic. I want to see Oliveira, the enigma, upfront too.

LOL! :D

I was thinking "why are those two telling me Zenden is at Boro? I fecking know that!"

I am a tool, no idea why I wrote Bolo's name - I must be missing him so much!

I saw him in that Far-Eastern competition. He looked good, if a tad small. Him and Nicolas are my tips for the future, not sure Keenan will make it though.

What about te Portuguese striker, Oliveira? He's supposed to be promising, at least thats what his last club were saying. Porto wasn't it?

I've never seen him play but all I hear is good things - hopefully he might get a game too. Getting nervous now, keep hearing the CL music. My last game was beating Barcelona 3-1 a long, long time ago!

I actually haven't seen any of the reserves games, for practical reasons. But I do follow them on the Chelsea homepage.

Any of you Londoners been to a reserves match?
