Champions League 2009-10

I think it was a great final and full respect for both teams for generally playing good football and being fair (few dives, not many bad tackles).

Inter are very classy team, they have a great keeper, and very good counter-attacking players. Milito's skill and clamness under pressue was the key and Julio Cesar was like having a brick wall in goal. Bayern were unlucky, but they just didn't have the class in terms of strikers. Mario Gomez is pretty hopeless, but they had to bring him on since Olic (who is a good player) had run out of stamina. Muller is ok, but he needs to be playing to a world class striker. If you imagine the Bayern of years gone by, the likes of Roy Makaay, Giovane Elber, Paulo Sergio, Carsten Jancker etc... these players could have made the difference.

People are critical of Inter, "playing negative football" but this is wrong. Inter did still try to attack in the second half, even with Bayern having a lot of ball posession - Eto, Maicon and Pandev/Stankovic made attacks into the Bayern half. The difference between Inter and say Man Utd is keeping the ball, Inter would play forward, but if there wasn't an open striker to receive the ball they would pass it sideways - keeping the ball and retention of possesion was key.

Both fans were excellent and made a great atmosphere on the day, it was strange to hear the Inter fans singing, "Non si vende Kakà" at Maranon.
