Can I do an uninstall/reinstall without losing saved data?

I've been having a problem recently with 2008 where I will try and load saved games and the screen will just hang - I have to minimize using alt+tab then when I come back it loads fine. I have to do this when saving games, loading games etc. I'll be buying 2009 when it is released, but until then I would like to get rid of this problem. I know saved data goes into a folder in my documents but I want to make sure I won't lose this by uninstalling then reinstalling. Any help much appreciated

Just copy that folder to another location on your pc. Uninstall, reinstall and the copy the folder to the original location...
