Bioshock, The real next gen begins here.

BioShock Has gone Gold.

New York, NY - August 10, 2007 - 2K, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), announced today that BioShock™ has gone to gold master exclusively for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system and Games For Windows. Developed by 2K Boston and 2K Australia, the renowned 2K Games development studios, BioShock is a highly anticipated video game that will be available at stores in North America on August 21, 2007 and in Europe beginning August 24, 2007.

BioShock is a first-person shooter that lets players do things never before possible in the genre. Nearly everything in the game can be turned into a weapon; players can biologically modify their bodies with plasmids, hack devices and systems, upgrade weapons and craft new ammo variants, and experiment with different battle techniques.

Players enter the game as a castaway in Rapture, an underwater utopia torn apart by civil war. Caught between powerful forces and hunted down by genetically modified "splicers" and deadly security systems, players have to come to grips with a dangerous and mysterious world filled with powerful technology and fascinating characters. With multiple avenues for surmounting challenges on both a moral and tactical level, no encounter ever plays out the same and no two gamers will play BioShock the same way.

Features:

Biologically modify your body with plasmids, which are genetic augmentations that empower you with dozens of fantastic abilities including: sending Electrobolts storming from your fingertips, unleashing a swarm of hornets hatched from the veins of your arms, or strategically turning enemies against one another with irritants.

Take control of your world by hacking devices and systems: reprogram enemy security bots into personal bodyguards, modify vending machines to change prices, and transform machine gun security turrets into powerless pieces of metal.

Upgrade your weapons at Power-to-the-People stations located through Rapture: craft variants of ammo and plasmids by picking up materials in the city and modifying them at U-Invent kiosks.

Turn everything into a weapon: the environment, your body, fire and water, and even your worst enemies. BioShock's free form combat options allow gameplay scenarios to be approached with a variety of weapons: inject active and passive plasmids, utilize environmental objects, exploit political alliances, or use a combination of techniques. Find your style but know when to adapt.

Explore an incredible and unique art deco world hidden deep under the ocean, vividly illustrated with realistic water effects and truly next generation graphics.

Make meaningful and mature decisions that culminate in the ultimate question: Do you exploit the innocent survivors of Rapture to save yourself...or risk it all to become their savior?

Been downloading since before 12pm (that's over an hour and a half), it's up to 8%. I'm on a 2mb line (tested it five minutes ago to make sure it's not the connection and it's working fine).

So it's going to be tomorrow before it's finished... Unfuckingbelievable.

No offence but why are you always the first with problems like that?

i set mine to download in the background before i went to work. I really hope it has not stalled as the machine will have been on standby all day.

RuneEdge, I don't quite get you. :eh:

I'm the first to complain about it because as soon as a demo is announced that I want, I'm the first to download it.

JB I tried to download the stranglehold demo yesterday and I had only 5% complete after an hour...annoying.Im on an 8mb line.

Took about an hour for me, but then I'm on 12mb here so that helps ;)

Graphics I thought were pretty impressive, certainly better than the graphics of Stranglehold, wasn't impressed with that at all, visual style and atmosphere of Bioshock really impressed me, very creepy game :)

Jesus Christ Nick, that's disgraceful. Why is it good for some and absolutely disgusting for others (when the ISP is fine otherwise)? Are you assigned a random downloads server? You should be able to select a half-decent one...

I'm upto 60% now (been going since 12pm).

i am on a 1meg line and hit 34% after 1hour and 30mins.

edit: but now it has stopped at 77% and will not budge.

I'm on a 24meg line, got to 76% after about half hour, checked the 360 to find a message 'you do not have enough room', and since I have resumed the download it has reached 88% in 3 hours. Great stuff.

Left mine on all day because I usually find that.

After an hour (9pm to 10pm) it didn't move a single percent, and yet the internet light was flashing occasionally. So I turned the Xbox off and on again, same percentage half an hour later. Turned it off again, now it's 5% away from finishing.

You must get assigned a random server. Which is utter bollocks seeing as I've been waiting for this for almost TWELVE HOURS.

I started downloading at 08:15 and it finished at 21:30. game is sweet though, graphics are real nice also. not sure why anyone would say they are not impressive.

Anyone know if it'll be region free? IGN doesn't list an Asian version release date :(

Edit: Answered myself by googling, yes it's region free :)

Started DL'n at 8 this morning, came in to check the dreaded % screen and its done............... So not sure how long it took, but under 3 hours. All done via stand by. Looking forward to trying it out after work.

The graphics are amazing, the atmosphere is great (the plane's tail sinking into the water is so creepy), I love it so far.
