Don't get me started; it's a bee in my bonnet. I always refer to them by their original names! They changed it at a halfway point too - in between PES2 and PES3 - in Winning Eleven 6 Final Evolution.
They changed because there were real players named Castello, Miranda, Ivanov etc.
Even for something like that, PES series always got problems with licences lol, they're damned with those kind of things (by another company probably)
That's why all the fakes players got pretty weird names in the original database.
But if they creates fakes new players for exemple, they got the right to name them like they want, the difference they are generated so it's considerated as random, so not intentionnal.
We laught about some fakes stuffs, but those fucking licences and "not ressembling" stuffs are a real pain in the ass. The worst is Bundes: if rosters are too much lookalike, like height and weight more or less the same and player likenesses (stats even if it's subjective) with every single other things totally fakes, they can got pursuit on justice lol. Same for Brasileirao in Fifa.
Brasil and German are really the worst.
Especially Brasil because every games are doomed, well, not FM i don't know why, perhaps because, the owners of the Brasileirao Federation really think their league is sacred and above all...
Stuff like i've read recently with Palmeiras is absurd. And Konami, since PES 2013 or 14, can't update those teams, you know why (player by player contract and shit). Sad because it's the league with the most big teams in South America in part with Argentina. Even if i'm not a big fan of Brasileirao to follow at all, they're good.
Bundesliga got an exclusivity with EA, so it's probably EA who redacted the contract for the "nothing can looks like Bundesliga players". And they aren't Fifpro neither, i don't know why they refused that partnership, it's not like a restriction to be part of Fifpro.
Always the same talk, but there's points i still don't understand even 15 years later.
