Attack-/Defence-Arrows for Goalkeepers

Does anybody know how attack-/defence-arrows affect goalkeepers? What sense does it make,to give a goalkeeper a attack arrow in direction to the oposite goal? Is he now coming out earlier or what? What is your experience?

Not related to the arrows, but if you get a corner while being down of 1 goal in stoppage time, if you set the setting to max attack, the goalie will come in the opponent surface.
